im in need of money but i dont like to part from my pieces. it disgusts me to sell them to buy usables, while i see more timelessness in keeping them. i am well aware they are not speacial and good and mean more to me than others.
but i do think i need the money so my question is, how do you sell your work?
    how can i price them?
what happened to you, once you sold them?

    also, critique my work pls.

    or picrel

the vegetable is my second painting and i was holding onto the translucency of a sketchy impression. i wanted to keep it like that. but maybe i dont really have a feeling for how and when i have reached a paintings maturisation. if i would push it, i risk it becoming something that fails?

I'd be more worried about trying to find someone willing to buy that over everything else. Ergo, start filling out those job applications, my dude.
    >>

i might be sentimental about the value of my painting, but certainly not on the business side. ive seen people buy all kinds of work. my paintings are not better or worse than what i have seen money go down for.

and it does not have to be expensive. but since i do not know how to evaluate a price for an artistic object, and not understand the maker-buyer relationship, my intention and inquiry are well placed. the only misconception i have, is my expectation to get some forwarding answers from a site merely infested with stagnant coomer garbage.
    >>
I like your last sentence so I am helping you: do some asbtract art, play with colors over a black background, take what you learn from there and put into the op painting

For your pricing questions there are plenty of reddit threads you can google, why would your first instibct be to ask 4chan? This is an anime porn board before it is an art board, thats just how the "Site" works

    >I've seen [x] happen
    >therefore expecting [x] to happen to me is reasonable
Might as well expect some jew to throw a bag of money at you to subvert western civilization.
    >my paintings are not better or worse than what i have seen money go down for
You are blind to how shitty your own work is, you're not an objective judge. Your paintings suck on a technical, thematic and aesthetic level, deal with it. Sure, you could put them up for $30 and maybe someone would take them eventually, but you are absolutely 100% not making this a source of income nor turning it into a quick buck.
    >oh wow, I wish I had a really badly painted, dull and drab pillow and blanket to put on my wall, that's what's missing from my life
    ???
    >>
    >>8068905
    >why would your first instibct be to ask 4chan
    im a bit slow.
was thinking this might be more of an explorative site, particularly because its not professional people, but have experimented with various ways to find their style, their group and material or ways to make money from it. kind of like a grubby main train station. so you would go ask there if someone knows the way. but because im giving the benefit of a doubt and always believe the best, i end up seeing the worst quite late.

    thank you for your remarks.
    >>
    >>8068911
    >Your paintings suck on a technical, thematic and aesthetic level, deal with it.
im not dealing with it; i want critique and you are giving me none of it with all the buffoonery garbage that comes with your cockery.
    again, be specific.
    >>
    >>8068916
What part of nothing about it being good eludes you, retard? I literally told you multiple things wrong on both a conceptual and technical level about the retarded pillow painting, are you fucking stupid? Do you expect me to hold your hand?
Kill yourself, retard. Just put that trash online and see what offers you get.

i can sell it for 1 dollar and a half and buy a cone without an ice cream and still have no problem with it, if i placed the price well. now let me see your paintings.
    >>
    >>8068925
    >I can sell it
    Prove it.
    >>
    >>8068927
just had a phone call with a high bidder from a major fine art auction house, they buy it for two, once you upload a painting of yours. my hope relies on your generosity.
    >>
    >>8068925
    >i can sell it for 1 dollar and a half and buy a cone without an ice cream and still have no problem with it
Literally losing money on time, paint, and the canvas
Please just accept your currwnt work needs some work to have aesthetic or technical appeal. If you wonder why, it is practically /prebeg/. Most high schoolers can paint on this level, there is only more to learn from here
    >>
    >>8068937
    >Please just accept your currwnt work needs some work
no shit sherlock. but having it a monsoon of crybabies that doesnt go into detail how to improve is the exact counterpart of what you claim is, its pretentious. and now help or repeat yourself, and so will i.
    >>
    >>8068759
Bud this is just bad work. It's not interesting, muddy, no sense of composition. I can't see anyone paying to have this on their wall. The whole thing is lazy and it looks like art from someone who is still learning. I don't think you need to worry about selling your art yet, you got a ways to go. If you can't see that it's bad you need to develop your taste and eye as well.

OP, do you have photos of these two subjects? People may have an easier time criticising if they can make comparisons.

    About your artichokes:
Have you tried drawing them? They are made of scales that are far more distinct than your painting suggests. There's a clear edge where each scale overlaps. Often, the leading edge of a scale is slightly rounded and catches the light, and that light is immediately adjacent to a sharp shadow cast by that scale. As a whole, your artichokes are very low contrast. Perhaps for practice you could draw or paint some in strong directional light.

The foremost artichoke is lighter underneath than on top, and the rear artichoke is basically formless. Try painting two apples or oranges in a similar arrangement. Don't worry about surface detail initially, try to get them to get their spherical nature across first.

I think the subjext has a lot of potential
    >>
    >>8068971
    thank you!

they dont have an easy time to critize, because they are an unimaginative and stuck up bunch of criebabies.
    -no critique how to improve
-no information how to place a price
-no information of how a buyers-maker relationship works

hey hang themselves up on the premise of a piece being unsellable and that stops their thinking in its tracks, instead of exploring the questions or actually critisizing. they just puff up like a steamy potato pinched with a fork. give them any other theme, and they will act the same.

i dont like drawing off photos. But i will approach like you said by drawing and playing with values and contrast and different lights, thank you.

You can tell the actual advice and critique has been completely ignored and you've used the opportunity to type another meaningless paragraph.
    >>
    >>8069017
actually these are several paragraphs. Are you the same guy who confused "you're" with "your"? i can tell you cannot ignore my complete meaningless paragraphs, but give actual advice and critique in yours, i just have to find it.

Link a print on demand site to an etsy account and have it automated. People buy the prints, then the third party company prints and ships for you after getting info relayed from the etsy order.
    >>
    >>8071717
    >just give out your high res print files to jeets, bro, surely etsy and the print service won't just train ai to generate your paintings or anything
    >>
    >>8071717
a good idea for prints, not so much for oil paintings. I prefer their luster and texture, the best paintings still sink in print
