can having the autism nerf your /ic/skills? Asking for a friend
>>
>>8065165
Yes lmao
>>
>>8065166
my friend hopes you're trolling
>>
>>8065165
the kind of autism where you obsessively commit to your interest or the kind of autism where you invent a nonsensical preconception of a thing and then proceed to develop idiotic abstract mechanisms to reaffirm said nonsense, all the while being terminally obtuse to the reality you physically inhabit, incapable of distancing yourself from your retarded headcanon and disassociating from the imaginary persona you identify with and whose nonexistent reputation and ego you must protect at all costs?
>>
>>8065178
the first one actually
>>
>>8065165
I will assume you have Asperger, so an high functioning autistic person that doesn't have his IQ nerfed due to his autism.

Autism (Asperger included) can affect negatively several aspects of your life, not just social but also other skills, like playing the guitar or drawing.
If you are lucky, you are extremely good in a few skills.

Autism is very diverse, and what nerfs (and eventually buffs) changes from individual to individual.
You have to understand by yourself what are your problems, in what you are good as any normal person, and in what are you gifted.
If you suck in drawing, don't worry, as it might not be your autism. Drawing is a very hard skill to master, and can even take more than a decade to get good at it.
>>
>>8065178
Not OP but I have the 2nd one
>>
>>8065165
The most pressing autismo trait is being utterly incapable of viewing your own skill and appeal objectively. It can be a good thing if you're the exact right person otherwise, but in most cases this is how /permabeg/s are born, it's best to assume you are not an exception to the rule. Art isn't particularly hard, you don't need big brain IQ to do it. But you do need well developed empathy for nearly every part of it, and you absolutely cannot logic (or whatever autists pass as logic) your way out of this.
>>
>>8065178
Stupid faggot I am not good at drawing because it wasnt meant to be, not because I consciously refuse to make a series of esoteric adaptations to my process, the people who succeed literally had it all handed to them, look up quora for people asking how to succeed/learn/etc, none of the people replying are creatively successful
Reading your midwit bullshit is frustrating, why are you so retarded? Were you dropped as a child?
>>
>>8065495
Nigger thats just normal behavior are you retarded too?
>>
>>8065503
In the spirit of irony, I regret to inform you that most people do, in fact, have well developed empathy.

But I can't be too hard on you, there are untold numbers of autist permabegs. I can't fault you for thinking it's normal behavior.
>>
if you have to ask it's already too late for you

/adv/ is that way anon

my bad, here's a response in proper /ic/ formatting
>>

If you have to ask here*
Especially if the friend is young, and genuinely posts here, it's already over

Autism is mostly a bad thing, even a high functional one. People just joke about it when they say "I have an autism about numbers" and process to name random numbers they saw through the day and even explain where exactly they saw them. This shit is not autism. Real autism is people who are obsessed with some subject and can't stop it, they also make the subject more important than most of the things in their life. Their lack of empathy and social skills makes them very prone to delude themselves into weird ideas and potentially spend 1000s of hours into literally nothing without any output. In most cases, they need a tutor/teacher/a friend to guide them. Regular people need it to, but to a lesser extent, and they'll be able to tell that they need one, when an autist will just live in whatever delusion they have
>>
>>8065726
nah, it doesn't matter where you ask (unless someone pointed it out and your first option is to avoid asking them and instead ask 4chan in which case yes the autism is terminal)
the "will my drawing skills be crippled because i have aphantasia/autism/no asian jeans/no tall ents" is always a retarded question thrown out just to reinforce their pity hell and self harm sessions of fault redirection OR to get their ego jerked off with the usual
>haha noooo you're so special you don't need that
baby babble

if one has the self criticism capabilities they'd be asking about flaws in their drawing, not trying to find a generic flaw in themselves that they could push the shit art reasoning blame on
>>
>>8065732
I got used to these people asking about different shit online and never actually committing to it. Heck, I even knew very sad cases of similar behavior, like when a guy would do the same action for a few years in a row, getting exact same result, ignore all criticism, and even not being ashamed of talking about it online and becoming a local lolcow (before the term went mainstream)
You just can't fix people. Questions like this are fine, but they're really like when a person with no direction and even a sense of direction asks random people to gaslighting them into some belief (like "yeah it's easy go for it anon" or "nah it's dead, ngmi")
>>
>>8065165
Absolutely. I have to be motivated in order to draw., if I'm not motivated then drawing makes me literally nauseous when I think about it. I could be drawing right now but my brain ran the simulation in my head and the drawing didn't turn out good, so I saved myself hours.
>>
Depends on the severity. Generally speaking, unless you consider yourself retarded, then no it shouldn't nerf your skills.

I have the autism and my drawings look like this
you decide whether thats good or not
>>
>>8065726
yeah im autistic asf its over
>>
>>8065805
You choose to render one of the worst ones, i dont get it
>>
>>8065165
It can if you don't have the type of autism that naturally lends itself to learning abstract stuff. A lot of autists are trapped in perma-/beg/ hell because they take 'just draw' too literally (and develop poor habits) or fall for the constructive drawing trap (drawabox, brokendraw, Peter Han, etc).

Gesture, line quality, drawing your immediate surroundings, continuous line drawing, shape/line grinding as warmups, meaningful tracing (break down refs into shapes), and spending more time looking at your reference than your paper is all you need when starting out. If anyone tells you anything else, they're horribly misinformed.
>>
>>8065833
That's right, you wouldn't get it BECAUSE YOUR A PIECE OF SHIT NIGGER!

This is me. I have no intuition and I end up following bad rules I don't even realize I'm thinking are rules until I see someone else do it differently. How to stop being like this?
>>
>>8065165
you probably have fake tiktok autism/adhd. the horrible experiences actually autistic men go through make for great art, and being stubborn allows them to follow through

Always take what "trusted people" are telling you with a grain of salt. Try out their advice and if it doesn't get results quickly, drop it at once. Keep looking for help elsewhere until you find what works for you.

Always take careful note of what people are telling you, too. Question them. If they're being obtuse, too vague, or refuse to spell things out...don't listen to them!

I doubt it makes drawing harder or makes it less likely for someone to achieve their art goals. It's probably just hard in a different way.
>>
>>8065165
I don't think it's useful to think of oneself as a blank slate with an autism nerf. Becoming truly good at art and self expression is hard for everyone (unless they're like, exceptional prodigies I guess). It's a long journey during which everyone has to face themselves and the ways their own personality makes things difficult. So I think it's more productive to think about the challenges you, individually, have as a person, especially since autism also affects lots of people in different ways. You could look up "can autism make you worse at ____" for anything you can think of, and you could find an article saying that it can hinder you at that. So does that mean you should never do anything again?
