Aaaaaaaa! My EYES! YOU BASTARD!(Not responsible for self inflicted injuries)This is a continuation from this previous thread >>8016016(I'm not previous OP but to me this is HIS thread, maybe he's busy so I made it for him)
I want to make a little dialogue driven side story about a post OP did in the previous thread. I wrote another little "fanfic" based on that. But it's just a lot of dialogue and text. This girl lives near the "snowglobe" but people called a cursed city, to go in there is forbidden, for good reasons. She won't get in, but she will have an encounter with an old and mysterious man who is researching the gigantic head from afar."Jenny" is a tentative title, not sure if adding something like "Jenny between dimensions" or " Jenny Through the looking dimension"
This is the post that inspired me to do a quick side story about it. >>8040630It won't involve Cassandra, just one character's cameo, he he. It is really interesting to me the concept of that place, so I made up an unrelated detached approach to what that place "is", from an outsider's view: The people that lives around that thing and can't find any answers to what "that" is for real.
>>8054342This image makes me itch.
>>8054356Aww shucks!*(.)=(.)* \_/
Welp, here's the first page finished. I left it just as "Jenny". I was losing too much time trying to decide what other title to use.>>8054523>Aww shucks!Don't worry man! It makes sense, I'm totally unfit, to imagine how that crazy place works, or how to portray Cassandra, or J.Prickles, those seem to be very special, pure and soulful characters. I took enough liberties with "Milo" (That story will be finished, I just want to take this one out of my system quickly, this stuff is like a " shocking rush" that needs to be contained and used to create "the thing", if not, it becomes wasted energy/inspiration otherwise).
>>8054342
>>8054734That was the inspiration for Cassandra's House.
>>8054599Well, you have a whole Official Canon shooting script with a plot, imagery and background that I would enjoy your interpretation of. And working within such parameters will be its own education. And the newspaper sized strip format is fine. You need not keep to exact reproduction of my panels, because had I tried to retell this properly it would be made from processed chunks of art in Photoshop. So telling the story composition wise is the challenge, and you certainly are up for it.
>>8054813That’s a house? Looks more like a landscape. >>8054599She’s about to have a bad time, isn’t she?
>>8055386Cassandra calls it her house, because she conjured it into being. It is "the size of Rhode Island stuck on a spike ", the interior hollow but with ridges like a pepper might have, like this storyboard alludes to. After it's "condensing" into this dimension from a myriad of intersecting ficdoms, timelines, temporal confluxes, and what such metamagic spawns, Cassandra spent the decade after the conclusion of the war for anthromorph emancipation exploring the place, and has made several strongholds and base camps for her investigations. And she barely scratched the surface.
And here is something I did when I caught Covid for the first time. I thought I was a gonner and thought I'd put as much background material that I had in my head onto paper as fast as possible. So fast that I didn't bother drawing any head spikes because I was fighting the clock. The Secret Chronicles REVEALED!
And here is the last Snowglobe strip referred to.
At least these permabegs are contained.
>>8055660And it keeps attracting the craggots.(Faggot crabs)
>>8055525Those 2,000 people needed foreign viagra, though.
Wasn’t having no luck drawing what I wanted to draw so I drawed this instead
>>8056050I never got feedback from anywhere about the story I produced for over a decade. Only the statistics of my traffic, which averaged 3400 unique visitors per month, and over 99% were going by way of a direct link like a saved shortcut. So at least some humans were following the story. The Snowglobe story was a happy accident, a random demon head in a new sketchbook that then became a premise embodied in a second character, their interaction became a story in progress, and the familiar third character gave it a plot. Then a second page elaborating on the first, then a third, and suddenly I had to write up the beginning of this story when I was thirty pages in. Sometimes I could knock out a strip in a week, and sometimes I couldn't draw for weeks. Covid crippled my finances and I sacrificed both domain name and server rental. And I didn't draw for over two years.
>>8056207So are you a pantser? (As in “write by the seat of your pants.”) Seems like an especially difficult thing to make up a story as you go while drawing it. Awfully time-consuming way of figuring out what to do.
>>8054599 >>PAGE 2 FINISHED! I don't know why in the retarded fuck I thought that this new comic could be much more easier and faster than the other one, having this 5 different characters with their own personal speech. Oh well, I'll try my best to get it going.>>8054856Thanks anon! You're too kind! Honestly, to make my own vision of Cassandra's house it will take me a lot of commitment and mental work, I'm not ready. This little tale that I'm doing works like a very simple theatrical play, that puts the reader into a place of introspection. Your characters, like Milo in this case are like mythical figures, and I don't want to spoil too much, but Jenny and Milo will have a long theoretical talk about Cassandra's house put as a concept of a "mock dimension" and how an ordinary person would react to that "unruly" sub-alter-reality. So what my little story does is just hype your snow-globe concept. Have you seen "Ghost in the shell 2: innocence"? I think your Cassandra's house dimension would feel like that, like when Batou's mind gets hacked. In any case I think this will be interesting for you no doubt.>>8055386>She’s about to have a bad time, isn’t she?I didn't thought this one as a NSFW story, those are supposed to be good boys, though this story could evolve into whatever you want after her talk with Milo and Jenny and the boy band there can get involved in all sorts of weird shit, but that should happen way ahead in the story, if it ever happens.Nice Witch!!! That's one lucky Halloweener!>>8055518>8055524>8055525>8055526>8055527>>8055536Oh wow, I'll have to read all of that!>>8055982You can save her Mr Prickles! I love that this pic fits so good in my new story's lore, lol!>>8056087That's a Happy chonker!>>8056207That's interesting, yeah, personal web sites and projects require a level of commitment that I will never have. I could not take the stress of it, it takes a lot of fortitude and resilience.
>>8056444 GOD DAMN IT! I forgot an speech bubble in the first panel, again.. Here's the fixed one. Sorry.
>>8056449 >>PAGE 3 FINISHED! I think I'm getting the workflow for this one.. Maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew.. this is still doable if I don't deviate from the planned dialogue x__x..
>>8056252I realized that my foreseeable future was going to be as a dutiful boyfriend spending time with my future wife in waiting rooms so I brought a new sketchbook to pass the time. Drew the demon head, and tried to explain what it could be trapped in a bubble. An old computer term is " daemon", a subroutine in a program that does simple automatic things like when an email wasn't delivered. So I saw him as an interface but for whom? The second character was more deliberate: a Cassandra rabbit, but one impossibly created between different anthromorph species. I like doing what I call One Shots, a whole page of a panel of a story in progress as a challenge to stuff it with sufficient details for the reader to speculate about what the story is about. But a second, a third, and I wanted to share this tale as it carried me off. I may post the whole thing again in order, all 180+ strips. I alternated between three groups of characters all simultaneously sharing in the adventure. Sometimes the art influences the story if it has facts to express as I draw it, and the writing forces me to create characters and situations on the fly. I would start a strip with a few plot points, sprinkle some foreshadowing where appropriate, and like George RR Martin does, I let the characters respond naturally to the premise. I look forward to telling the Trouble with Teddies story this way, and how I can clean up the art in Photoshop.
>>8057317>>PAGE 3 FIXEDSHIIIIIIIT! I don't understand HOW after hours and hours of staring at it I didn't notice the guy with the numbered shirt, doesn't have number! So again, another page, another fix. I was wondering what was I forgetting there lol.
PAGE 4 WIPI'm gonna have to divide the time to accommodate my "Inktober" sudden impulse. Cursed be my artistic autism, lol
Done on a TV blocking pad so old the screens are CRT.
I redid it. Several times.
>>8058339 >>PAGE 4 FINISHED! Forgot to say, (even though it should be obvious) this story happens in a future timeline, where most of the things in OP's mythical lore already happened, but.. "time doesn't really exist" as Jenny and Milo will agree on their on coming lengthy dialogue.>>8058435I love this! I had one of those mini black&white TV's where I watched GI-JOE and Thundercats I remember.>>8058966Cool, I would ask her for a magic trick instead of candy.
>>8059518My lore accounts for all sorts of alternatives of characters from other dimensions. Even yours!:D
And this is the middle one.
She was my poster model. And I had two instances of Second Life open so I could have conversations between her and my main character, just to convince others she was real. We "met" in Quake 2 servers where she was a rail gun assassin and my Damnation Sent when I wanted to intimidate nasty people.
Billy didn’t have the heart to tell Cassie that her “trick-or-treating without a costume” tax really wasn’t structured like a tax.
PAGE 5 -WIP- This is a test, I tried a different approach, and it floored me. lol. That first panel I did it on a much bigger canvas with a proper brush, still very fast and "simple", but it took me an hour to make just that and I couldn't even finish that one complete panel. In one hour I can do the whole page line using the other "simpler" style. Well at least I tried. I'll go back to do the previous style with the hard round brush in a smaller size. This is like a marathon, and I can't compromise my daily limited energy and stamina.>>8060294Oh I can imagine that, for sure. I can wait to get to the dialogue with Milo and Jenny.>>8060608>>8060619I love this stuff, it clearly portrays the visual spirit of that era. So much hype with virtuality and new tech. Today everything feels so dull. That magic is gone.>>8061003Does she do anything for free? lol
At least it’s not Billy and Cassie again.
>>8059518 >>PAGE 5 FINISHED! Alright! Yes! I managed to put that complete dialogue in one page. Awesome, that will make this comic to be "completed" in way less pages.I drew again that first panel, I really need to keep this project as simple and fast as possible. I can't derail like that again. Too little time to fuck ups.>>8062988COOL! It's crazy how this seems like the work from a totally different artist.
>>8063333This one is very interesting to me. I like how you made word balloons guide the eye through the conversations with pointing (copulating?) arrows. I had put numbers next to the frameless panels of that one strip that grew a story around the portrait of Cassandra showing off her simulation. I just stuck talking heads in random spots and let the reader deal with number hunting, but later work I have dispensed with balloons entirely, relying on the cadence of the dialog to identify their speakers. Even in the Peter's Lair story I went with highest balloons speak first even though I fit them right to left in some panels. You have a good way of conveying the flow of the script. Even the word balloons are fucking each other!:D
>>8063388>Even the word balloons are fucking each other!Simultaneously text AND subtext. Brilliant. Wake ‘n bake, niggaz.
PAGE 6 -WIP->>8063388LOL Thanks anon! I never thought about in that way, now you gave me an idea, copulating "speaking" balloons fucking each other? That could be expressively useful and creative, in sex scenes.. heh hehYeah, that wasn't intentional just as the saying goes "necessity is the mother of invention" (or something like that). I needed my speak balloons to have some sort of indication for direction since my stuff can be excessively text oriented many times, and I care more about the text than the drawings lol.>>8063588>muh coon!FUCKING KEK! Dude I chuckled out loud! LMAO!
>>8063333 >>PAGE 6 FINISHED! Quatrips checked btw
I was looking through the drawing pad where I found the Flightless picture, and found this too. A bad composition rightly abandoned, but I did the PG version afterwards.
Stuff I dug out of my laptop, which was functional all this time.My Quake 2 skin.
a bad scan of a 1 shot.
Second Life stuff. There were Freebie places new players would find and collect old items other players made and donated so they can tear them apart to see how they work. Lots of game assets from somewhere. Does any of this look familiar?
This was a freebie, a lantern fish as big as a bus.I named him Chester.
Christmas with Chester
>>8064092 >>PAGE 7 FINISHED! This page was too rushed, I don't like the figures much at all, but I'm okay with this little project going forward as fast as possible.>>8065133She is looking pretty awesome there!>>8065152This is COOL!
That was my contribution to Burning Life 2007, and I had the animated Eye lying around with no better use for it. It's part of their history...https://youtu.be/Yiy_FS7AoJ8?is=xgREq5OXjSvnHxwz
The bad pen strikes again.
>>8066370I will admit I like this one
>>8066370Thing about your art is I can't tell if you drew this today or in 1980.
I had the comic book standard Bristol board lying around and I felt ambitious with this reawakened urge to create. But it was wasted effort, and I would spend a serious time in composition before committing to the Bristol board.
Here's an earlier version. I tried spelling out "A Divergence" in dripping eyes, but it needed more composition.
PAGE 8 WIP. The inktober challenge is draining me, but this project is going well.>>8066370This stuff is incredible.>>8066871Your stuff is artistically unhinged, it seems that it needs to flow and exist in its natural form in order to be created. Too much sovl to be contained by established formats.
Have you ever looked in to how much it would cost to make a proper artbook? Don't underestimate the ability to crowdfund
>>8067559I have yet to make anything that I would be comfortable charging money for. The stuff that I am posting might have merit unto themselves, but I can not expect interest in a book of such things until I get a following, which requires a more focused effort. I DO have a strategy for somehow making a living from my art, but its still in the developmental stage. I finally got my computer working, and now can put proper scan jpegs into the laptop with Photoshop so I can learn how to properly color my art and also to learn how to alter my style to anticipate Photoshop legerdermain. After that, I will assemble the artwork for the YouTube channel, and find public domain music to couple with the hyperlapse video I make drawing the first introductory story in the Jeremey Prickles saga. Peter stumbles across the Professor and so it begins, as I draw it "by the seat of my pants" as someone put it, the story appearing before your eyes. https://youtu.be/tCE1GQHCdDc?is=z7cKm8X85fuy7egDhttps://youtu.be/Xp67nuEVESU?is=gbmo4_D55F9lCUjyhttps://youtu.be/s1o1B8vUA5Y?is=mTS7J3Z9u-MeYQsdhttps://youtu.be/YEDuqSY0wko?is=esJCJbfBUNvDidRoAnd my hardcopy art books would be collections of these strips colored and heavily Photoshopped, something not for online distribution. For now, my first project will be a tshirt design, a superior version of the eye shirt I did but half the image was stuffed in your pants, so the main image must be on the top half for the new one. Framing eyes so I can shuffle in new interior art, with color variants to maximize sales. And YouTube will be my promotional platform. I doubt that the media they provide will change drastically like viewing platforms have. I did a 180+ strip story that was the dimensions of your average Sunday newspaper comic, a rectangle that would take up the entirety of the screen. Now people websurf with their phones and complain how hard to read it is. So let them watch it unfold as video and cherish the printed books.
>>8065531 >>PAGE 8 FINISHED! I like how this one came out, very effective for my dump exposition purpose.>>8067878I'm not that anon, but it's very interesting to hear how your deal with this creative endeavor and the struggles associated with it.About what I'm doing here, I'm just riding on your passion, I hope I can finish this little stories as a gift and motivation for you. I have no other purpose at all for these fanarts, these are yours. Maybe some other artists can add to the lore of your world, hopefully not some brain-rotten coomers like me lol! I'll resume posting the Sparky one, once I finish this Jenny story, just in case the ban-hammer falls on my head lol. I want to at least get this safe for work story uploaded here, before taking the risk continuing the other one.
>>8068175It's a matter of time management. And finding how much of that I can draw/Photoshop is still the deciding factor. Each video is documenting an hours worth of inventing and illustration, and after I learn to add a music bed to the videos, can upload 2 or three a week. Maybe spreading them out so I can work on the coloring of completed strips, one upload a week. For now, I have the last pencil work to ink, this one, and off to getting stuff into my laptop for the second half of the homework I need to face.As for others contributing to my lore, I must be its alpha and omega while I am still kicking, since it still needs figuring out. But have fun,and thank you for caring at all.
Ugly art.
>>8069605Not ugly at all. It reminds me of the Disney show the Gummie Bears Try cell shading that with flat colors, just to see how it would look.
Digging through my laptop, now that I got it working, and I found an example of PhotoShop Legerdemain. This was one of the bug war machines that are in the hanger the gang stumble upon in my 16 page story I did to teach myself the craft. I made a bunch of random bugs and wanted one featured in several panels, but this one remained on the cutting room floor.I drew likely bits and with an ala-kazam, we get-
With bits in altered Contrast ,and the shapes hammered into place, we get this. I didn't like the results, so I moved on, happy in the knowledge that I did not ruin a whole Comic Bristol Board with a bad design, that substituting something better will be easy to do now.
And my Quake 2 skin as a jpeg.
Boo.
