Why wasn't the Christmas truce of 1914 repeated in later years?

The real answer is night raiders/trench raiders. Trench raiding became a real threat from the middle of 1915. In fact, it was partly because of the Christmas Truce of 1914 that officers said "Nah, fuck that" and started training people how to seek, kill, and destroy the enemy using stealthy raiding parties>To curb this live-and-let-live phenomenon, the obligation to conduct trench raids was ordered in February 1915 by Field Marshal Sir John French."
>>18766576The real reason is that COs from all sides of the war treated their men like dogshit so they all had something to relate to

The Christmas truce makes sense given that the British and Germans had rarely fought wars with one another before 1914.The British and German monarchies were cousins to one another. The English and German languages are cousins to one another. The Anglican and Lutheran religions are cousins to one another. The core of the imperial rivalry is due to the British government not wanting to let Germany build a railway system through the Balkans and Turkey since that would negate their monopoly over sea trade. But to an average soldier that's an esoteric reason for war
