Have communists ever made up their minds on their stance re: the Cold War commielarper regimes? They seem to flip-flop between:>that wasn't real socialism, real socialism never existed, those regimes were all capitalist >those socialist regimes were epic, they did a heckin industrialization, they raised literacy rates, Amerikkka could never
Communists did this to themselves because they don't know if Communism is a system of government or an economic system or both, so when a communist country becomes a failed state they can't blame the government unless they call it "not real communism"
communists aren't a monolith. Different tendencies will give you different answers.
>>18765571I'm with Hobsbawm (possibly the ugliest dude ever) that it was real socialism, and it was epic and they did heckin industrialization and raised literacy rates, but that's all "that" was, really. Like there were various reasons why it happened in that way where it happened but it wasn't a desirable alternative if you can pick and choose. It might not have been a choice although I'm not sure about Cuba, that one might have just been a flat-out bad choice and should've stuck with being Caribbean Vegas instead. But like in Russia or China, what was the alternative. BTW historically there were a lot of nationalists who were very nationalistic but hated their traditional cultures and societies (that was most communists for example), now most nationalists are far more into the traditionalist populism. Probably says something about the historical dynamics and whatever nationalism was a progressive force at some points. Also nowadays a lot of people who call themselves are not even nationalists because they don't want to have anything to do with their country and compatriots but like just hate gay people. Thanks 4 reading my post.
>>18765571Because both of that is true. None of the regimes achieved communism but what they did with economical planning would've been impossible with liberal market capitalism.
