Why were Vietnam vets hated and called baby killers and terrorists whereas Iraq and Afghan war vets are still cheered to this day as patriots, heroes and "real men"?

Does anyone respect Iraq or Afghan veterans?
>>

The US did WAY more war crimes in Vietnam than in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They are viewed as a protected species almost. If anyone so much as criticizes an army veteran or any military figure these days they are called unpatriotic filthy vermin and liable for deportation and Trump will "look into" getting rid of them from America, and so on. Just go on X and look what happens to anyone who attacks the military or anyone involved in defending America post 9/11.

Yet in the 60s people were spitting on Vietnam soldiers and screaming "child killer!" at them. If anyone did that to say Pete Hesgeth they'd be piled on and called terrorist loving scum and unAmerican, but attacks on Vietnam vets are not seen as unAmerican and pretty normalized across the board.

all war is a crime. a soldier who kills another solder has committed all the same grave immorality as murder, and the stains will never be washed from their soul.

Depend on which side of the now divided society you are one.

That's why the priests are always the first wave of an attacking 'western' army crusading whilst masquerading as liberators of one form or another. To answer OP's question, there have always been popular crusades and unpopular crusades. It's really up to the people.

Nobody really acknowledges Iraq and Afghan vets, hence why so many are homeless and there's been no public outcry about it.

I am closer to 30 than 18, I just don't respect people who gladly risk their lives for Israel.

More drugs + troops were simply following their commander's orders. Vietnam is infinitely more justified than Iraq or Afghanistan and the Korean War is the perfect example. No ones like: man fuck those Korean war vets, they should've just let South Korea be invaded! South Korea would be much better off right now under Kim Jong Un!

Because 9/11 was America's Pearl Harbor of the 21st century and a casus belli for both of those wars, unlike Vietnam where the Gulf of Tonkin incident was nowhere close to home and had 0 casualties inflicted on US citizens and military personnel, not to mention the NSA lying about it, combine that with the fact the journalists were not tied to US military groups like they were in Desert Storm and afterwards and you get that result

You're retarded.

I wasn't alive back then but am presuming that Vietnam Vets weren't actually hated by populace. That was probably limited to the ancestors of the same subhumans today, the leftist radicals the hippies. Its popularized in media but I'm guessing that most of america still treated veterans with respect. Certainly the conservatives did.

It was also known as Spelly's war after cardinal Spellman from NY who lionized the 'conflict', it's roots originating from the loss of French plantations in Vietnam. Spellman was a small ugly man and known sodomite, not the kind of cheerleader the people were looking for when crusading on an ancient culture half way around the world. Really a collection of atrocities until the people rose up and demanded it end.

Jim Morrison's dad started the Vietnam war.
