    >Where does this retarded “Trinity is Platonist” meme come from?
Do you understand the concept of a timeline? Plato lived in 4th century BC and laid the groundwork for Platonism, a philosophy rooted in pagan traditions of spiritual and philosophical contemplation that seeks the soul's direct, intuitive union with higher eternal realities—culminating in the Form of the Good or "The One"—through intellectual ascent, virtue, and inner transformation. That is the basis for mysticism in 4th century BC Platonism

Jesus lived in 1st century CE and laid the groundwork for Christianity which had no metaphysics or mysticism until after like 6th century CE. Christianity gets philosophically mogged. It inherited an apocalyptic Jewish messianism, a Pauline crucifixion theology, and a set of ethical teachings about charity and repentance. What it did not inherit from its Palestinian origins was a contemplative metaphysics. It had no doctrine of the soul's ascent through hierarchies of being. It had no analysis of divine names. It had no triadic structure of procession, rest, and return. It had no theurgic theology. It had no apophatic negation as a pathway to union with the Absolute. These doctrines did not exist in the Gospels. They did not exist in Paul. They did not exist in the Synoptic tradition. They did not exist in the rabbinic Judaism that formed Christianity's immediate background. Jesus never spoke on anything regarding metaphysics grounded in logical reasoning.

Christianity acquired its mysticism in a single documented act of literary theft. At the beginning of the sixth century of the common era, an anonymous Syrian monk read the works of the pagan Neoplatonist Proclus, head of the Platonic Academy of Athens from 437 to 485 CE, along with the works of Proclus's predecessors Plotinus, Porphyry, and Iamblichus. Proclus carried on the traditions established by Plato, but this monk copied Proclus's system, with substantial portions reproduced verbatim or with minimal paraphrase, replaced the pagan divine names with Christian terminology, attached his forgery to the name of Dionysius the Areopagite (a figure mentioned briefly in Acts 17:34 as an Athenian convert of Paul), and released the resulting corpus into Byzantine circulation. The forgery was accepted as authentic apostolic writing for the next thousand years. It shaped every subsequent Christian mystical tradition, from Maximus the Confessor to Meister Eckhart to John of the Cross. Every Catholic sacramental theology, every Byzantine liturgical commentary, every Western scholastic doctrine of the angelic hierarchies, traces back to this document.

The structural backbone of Proclus's entire system is the triadic rhythm of monē, proodos, epistrophē: abiding, procession, return. Every level of reality abides in its cause, proceeds from it, and returns to it. This triad is established in Proclus's Elements of Theology, Propositions 25 through 39, and it governs the architecture of his Platonic Theology. The triad is not a trivial formula. It is the load-bearing structure of Neoplatonic metaphysics.

The Dionysian corpus (a forgery), first appearing in 6th century CE, adopts (steals) this triad as the architectural principle of its entire system. The forgery was accepted as authentic apostolic writing for the next thousand years.

The first major Christian commentator to systematize texts on "The Trinity" was John of Scythopolis around 540 CE, within a decade of their surfacing; his Scholia, expanded by Maximus the Confessor in the seventh century, became the standard Byzantine framework for reading the texts. The texts were translated into Latin by John Scotus Eriugena in the ninth century at the court of Charles the Bald, introducing Dionysian theology to the Latin West, where it would become central to Aquinas, Bonaventure, and the late medieval mystical tradition.

The corpus attributed to Dionysius the Areopagite consists of four major treatises and ten letters: On the Divine Names (De Divinis Nominibus), On the Mystical Theology (De Mystica Theologia), On the Celestial Hierarchy (De Caelesti Hierarchia), On the Ecclesiastical Hierarchy (De Ecclesiastica Hierarchia), and the ten Epistles. These texts first surface in the historical record at a specific, dated moment: the Council of Constantinople held in 532 CE

Jesus died in 1st century, anon. He didn't mention anything about "The Trinity". Church Fathers -- 6 centuries after Jesus died -- gained access to Neoplatonism, extinguished Neoplatonism academies and cut people off from the traditions by imperial decree, then decided that a mystical triadic structure suddenly belonged to Christianity from that point on.

Oops I guess that was 'a lot of words'. Im sorry if I triggered your psychosis again, anon.

My answer is that the sentence didn’t end there and I don’t think it’s possible that you’re actually this stupid, you’re acting in bad faith.
    >>18763700
See this is what I mean. You saw some epic “shocking true history of Christianity revealed!” video by Bart Ehrman or someone like that 5 minutes ago and now you’re talking about obscure figures of church history that very few people in general have heard of. Yes it is still embarrassing.

The doctrine of the Trinity didn’t appear in 540 AD. Even the formal creedal definition was over 200 years earlier, and the term itself from still a century earlier yet. What you’ve shown (or really just referenced) is that Pseudo-Dionysius was a neoplatonist philosopher, which all of the 6 people who heard of him knew already. What you have not done is remotely explained what Plato has to with the doctrine of the Trinity. Second, it is true that Christ never spoke of a “Trinity” or a doctrine of the Trinity, it is utterly false that He said nothing of the substance of the doctrine. The doctrine, the whole doctrine, is derived directly from the holy scriptures, and only the vocabulary developed.
    >>
the process by which the trinity was arrived at is actually fundamentally oppossed to Plato's teachings. In the symposium. Socrates scolds Agathon for prioritising praising eros over accurately describing it.
This is exactly the type of though process that decided what interpretation of Jesus' nature was made doctrine.
The gospels very clearly point to Jesus, the Son, being subordinate to the Father, but this wasn't the interpretation that allowed them to praise him the most, so they declared all the sensible reading heresy.

    >The doctrine of the Trinity didn’t appear in 540 AD
Yes it did. Any earlier than that and the concept of Trinity in Christianity was still merely in the process of becoming defined doctrine.
    >What you have not done is remotely explained what Plato has to with the doctrine of the Trinity
Your reading comprehension is garbage. Neoplatonism is where the framework of triadic structure in metaphysics was most well defined in antiquity. Christianity adopted the Neoplatonist framework and claimed credit for inventing it because it complimented the process they were struggling with, regarding the concept of the Trinity for centuries.

It was already a well defined concept before Plato died, 400 years before the birth of Jesus. Middle Platonism and Neoplatonism further expanded on the framework, and eventually Christians adopted it centuries later in order to reshape their theology, define angelic hierarchies in heaven, and change the way they engage in liturgical commentary. Christianity didn't spawn in with all of it's traditions and interpretations in the first century, anon. It was struggling to define itself while Platonism was flourishing the entire time.

In 529 CE the Christian Emperor Justinian I, whose legislation prohibited the teaching of pagan philosophy on pain of confiscation of property and loss of civil rights, closed down the very last Neoplatonist academy in Athens.. The remaining philosophers, including Damascius and Simplicius, fled to the Sasanian court of Khosrow I before partially returning under treaty conditions. The thousand-year continuous tradition of Greek philosophical instruction at Athens, begun by Plato in 387 BCE, was extinguished by imperial Christian decree.

Within a generation of the Academy's closure, the Dionysian corpus appeared. The timing is not coincidental but you don't seem balanced enough to have that conversation.

The notion of a "Holy Spirit" exists to obfuscate the incestuous connotations of Jesus's birth. After all, if Jesus claimed to be God (John 10:30) and God knocked up the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:18) then that means Jesus impregnated his own mother to give birth to himself in an act of magical incest. Disgusting. Hence why the notion of a "Holy Spirit" that is/isn't God or Jesus is necessary for the narrative and why criticizing the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin in Christianity.

If you disagree with me then you disagree with Jesus. He said that only those who are not of this world, born of the Spirit can partake of the New Covenant, inherit the name of God and that their kingdom is heaven, wherever they establish the dominion of God in God's name. Monad, Nous (or Word/Thought), World Soul
The Father is the Monad, The Son is the Nous, the Holy Spirit is the World Soul.
The only oddity is the Christian demand that the Nous and Monad be equal and homoousian but distinct, with the Nous submitting to the Monad on Earth but being equal and homoousian but separate to it in Heaven.

If you ever wondered about the "begotten not created" line in Trinitarian dogma, it is because Platonic philosophy said that a creation is always less than it's creator. You cannot make something as good or better than yourself, it must be lesser because the 'potential' within a system only declines with time.
So God could not create Christ because that would mean that Christ was inherently less than God. God could only beget Christ, which is a different process apparently.
If this doesn't make sense to you, it is because you are not a Platonist, but early Christian theologians were.

There's no forcing. To say "he's the god of 10 things" because there's the lightning and the thunder and the clouds and whatever is disingenuous. Clearly that's one realm and that's how anyone with a bit of common sense sees it.
I outlined the 3 realms for Zeus but this can be done with a lot of other gods too. He's the one who brought up Zeus and he didn't even know about the traveler/hospitality realm. He just went for the quick silly gotcha.
You can do this for a bunch of other gods. That's how people thought of the gods back then, they weren't just gods of one thing.
Christianity had to syncretize itself with whatever already existed so that's why they had to use the trinity or the common person wouldn't even consider it.

    Kek, someone posted it.

Water is sometimes liquid, sometimes solid and sometimes a gas, is God the same, sometimes in a role and another times in another role?
    >>
    >>18764982
    That's modalism, which is heresy

    >delusional gloating intensifies
The Church of Christ will last as long as the Second Coming. It is written
    >>
    >>18764982
God is like water, sometimes it's the Father, then it changes and stops being the Father and becomes the Son, then it changes and stops being the Son and becomes the Holy Spirit.

    That's some hardcore heresy.

Christianity is the religion that lose the most members in the world. Unless we stop looking at data and believe those mutt pastors who claim that 80% of China is secretly Christian or whatever.

The trinity as a concept connecting 3 divine identities into 1 being is as old as Ancient Egypt.
Ra-Khepri-Atum are 3 separate identities depending on the positions of the sun in the sky, yet they are all 1 god. There is nothing original or unique in Christianity, no divine revelations; everything in the bible is borrowed & re-branded from pre-existing civilizations.

    You're so fucked. :)
    >>
    >>18765088
Ra's situation is closer to modalism and has way more gods in it
Like, Sekhmet should be in there
The Christian God isn't Jesus at one time of day and the Father at others, all three exist concurrently and are all God
    >>
    >>18763583
    correct.
its some quantum physics bullshit cooked up by people who lacked the language to express it properly, but were so certain of the specifics that they had a bunch of big nerd fights over it.

God is something that exists beyond space and time, beyond our 4 dimensions, who can thus view our existence across space and time, past and present, all at once.
Therefore any attempt to look or interfere run into the quantum observation issue, where merely observing a thing changes it.

The holy spirit is basically God reaching out in a minimalistic way to affect creation, usually by giving out information or other guidance.
Jesus was God doing something radical and basically making a meatpuppet to work from within existence to do something.

She is the daughter (offspring) of Ra, not an alternate identity of Ra like Khepri and Atum are. Egyptian mythology has many gods in addition to having its own divine Trinity represented by Ra

16:23 speaks of Hades, not hell.
That is just the greek word for afterlife, which was always gonna be used because the gospels were written in greek.
revelations is just some whacky prophecy
    2 peter 3:9 says
    >The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

    Hell is not christian.
its some goofy fanfiction from a guy that had a nightmare.
You get purgatory at best and need to repent while there.

    >Oh ok, so there is no relationship between the two.
Based illiterate retard. Triadic formulas mentioned in letters between Christians =/= doctrine.
It's obviously part of a centuries long process which plays into the first officially defined Christian doctrine on the Trinity, which we only see after the 6th century in Christianity once they realize Neoplatonism has done what they were trying to do all along. Like I said.

Like I don’t think you understand that I do not feel intimidated or threatened by you at all. You’re just a deeply ignorant person who is very arrogant and full of himself. You’re like a flat earther but for church history. Literally every single thing you said in this post is very basically wrong. Like you think Trinitarianism before Pseudo-Dionysius is “Triadic formulas mentioned in letters between Christians”, when in reality you have people like Augustine of Hippo writing long-form theological treatises called “On the Holy Trinity”. It’s just a waste of time either to refute you or even to listen to you, like a flat earther.
    >>
I get my understanding of the trinity from the only reliable source after the new testament: the earliest known book of Christian hymns.

    >Augustine of Hippo writing long-form theological treatises called “On the Holy Trinity
Augustine of Hippo studied Neoplatonism you fucking moron. Specifically he read Latin translations of Neoplatonic philosophers like Plotinus and Porphyry. He was born hundreds of years AFTER the trinity was already a well defined concept in Platonism. Try again, low effort shitposting retard.
5 seconds in google could've spared you from being so wrong. Do better next time

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odes_of_Solomon
    >the majority of scholars believe it to have been written by a Jewish Christian, very likely a convert from the Essene community to Christianity
    >There is wide agreement that the Odes are related to the Gospel of John and the Dead Sea scrolls, thus Charlesworth concludes that the writer was an Essene convert to the Johannine community
    >as the Odes are replete with enjoyment in God's good creation, they seem at odds with the gnostic concept of knowledge providing the means of release from the imperfect world.
    >Scholars such as H. Chadwick, Emerton, and Charlesworth are fully convinced that the text has nothing to do with Gnosticism

What's with Christians and all this lactation fetish?

    >According to the Acts of Paul (specifically The Martyrdom of Paul), an apocryphal Christian text written in the late 2nd century, Paul was beheaded in Rome under the reign of Emperor Nero (around 64–67 AD). When the executioner struck off Paul's head, milk—rather than blood—reportedly spurted out and splashed onto the soldier's tunic. Seeing the milk, the executioner and bystanders were astonished and glorified God, eventually reporting the event to Caesar.

    >According to Lactatio Bernardi (the Lactation of Saint Bernard), a popular legend and motif in medieval and Baroque Christian art, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (an 11th–12th-century Cistercian abbot and Doctor of the Church) was kneeling and praying in devotion before an image or statue of the Virgin Mary when she miraculously appeared (or the statue came to life) and squeezed milk from her breast onto Bernard’s lips. The stream of milk was said to bestow upon him extraordinary spiritual nourishment, heavenly eloquence, divine wisdom, and sometimes healing from an illness or eye infection.

    >The stream of milk was said to bestow upon him extraordinary spiritual nourishment, heavenly eloquence, divine wisdom, and sometimes healing from an illness or eye infection.
    >and sometimes healing from an illness or eye infection
I like how this can be read as if it were a regular occurrence. Usually the milk just gives him nourishment, eloquence, and wisdom, but every now and then when he gets his yearly eye infection or some other illness, it heals that too.

Before Christianity it was the spirit of God that would give people energy or inspiration or wisdom or whatever
But after forcing it into the Trinity it became something really confusing
