Why has this not been declared a mythical land like Atlantis? We have no evidence for it.

"Atlantis" first appeared by that name in some political tracts by Plato, whose whole ethos was about creating national myths for a better Greece. Plato was literally the Greek Tolkien. Might as well be looking for ruins of Beleriand or (more on that nose) Numenor.Punt on the other hand is mooted in real Egyptian texts. The traders went to where trade could happen, which was real places, not fake places like Atlantis or the land of the Rechabites or wherever. There's the difference, for anyone reading this who is not a faggot like OP.

[samefag]Anyway, "Punt" is probably a Budge-era mispronunciation. pwnt was more likely *pwenet, that -et being your classic old-Semitic / old-Egyptian / old-Berber feminine ending. The Late Egyptian or contemporary Semitic would be something like *eponah or *oponah and indeed Opone was the Koine Greek for one of those ports around the Horn.
