How would the Greco-Italian war have ended assuming no German intervention?
>>18762600Only possible if Italy wasn't a German ally, as British intervention would have been inevitable, which would have forced German intervention. But regardless... I don't know enough about the subject to answer.
>>18762600The Greeks were counterattacking into Albania and occupying Italian territory. Without German intervention there's nothing to suggest the Greeks couldn't set up a buffer zone at the very least.
>>18762600Taking Valona would have likely crippled Italian supply to the point they'd lose Albania.
>>18762615A Yugoslav intervention would have been too much for Italy to handle.
>>18762600Reestablishment of magna graecia, italsissies totally btfo
Dumb question
the way italians were losing ground Greece would have reached Milan by 1943
>>18762600With or without the UK fighting a proxy war in Greece?
>>18762623>>18762751>>18764565Shitalian shouldn't had betrayed Austria-Hungary.
>>18762600Supposing no outside intervention at all and both sides committed to victory; Ultimately and fundamentally it is an issue of an agrarian, non-motorized, infantry only (for the most part and in every relevant way) army of Greece against a fairly modernized Italian military that was far superior in every aspect of war materiel and the supplies and the logistics needed to maintain those units in the field. Elan only goes so far and doesn't replace bullets, rockets, bandages and fuel. The mountainous terrain aided Greece immensely in somewhat subduing the relevance of modern weapon systems and increasing the relevance of its own men and relevant knowledge. The issue is that the Italians only needed to get lucky once while the Greeks would have bet everything on continued Italian incompetence as the Greeks had no industry of relevance, no fuel supplies of relevance, no extensive logistics train with which to reliably supply men in the field and regardless, no source of ready means with which to continue supplying themselves in the long term barring outside aid. Eventually the Greeks would have messed up, over extended, over reached, and had no means with which to absorb said setback. While the Italians were better armed, better supplied and even if their entire Albanian force were theoretically obliterated they could conceivably rearm and redeploy additional forces. The Greeks, could not.
