>>18761868>What are the Japanese?I'm under the impression they're a novel hybrid of like three population migrations in chronological order:-One from Austronesia, possibly "out of Taiwan" and then to Okinawa and into the broken islands of Southern Japan and maybe into Kyushu. -Another from ?whatever Russians call Inuit people? from Eastern Coastal Russia to Hokkaido. -And then one more big push of East Asian people (I think) the Korean Peninsula. The last group would go on to form the Yayoi people and end up becoming the biggest genetic contributor to the mix given the fact they had agriculture and thus numbers on their side. >Why are they so differentThey live on an island that's *just* isolated enough to easily defend from outside intrusion, but not so isolated that they don't get any news or trade. This allowed Japanese society to go through remarkable periods of intense stability, but zero fucking development, eventually followed by alarming break-neck points of "catching up to the outside world".
