my pc got locked with bitlocker, i dont have recovery key anywhere!CVE-2026-45585 (YellowKey) - didnt workwhat do i do? i have no social life so basically all my life is encrypted https://github.com/e-ago/bitcrackerhttps://web.archive.org/web/20260514163321/https://github.com/Nightmare-Eclipse/
>>110211482Just restore from backups.
>>110211496>backupsI don't have any
>>110211482Just give up. You should be able to recover your data in a linux live environment. Let this be a lesson to stop using that broken garbage.
>>110211482This happened to me by mistake once. I just restored it from my backup and it was fine. Even if you were SUPER lazy and only took backups once a week or something, losing a few days of recent data is better than all of it, right?
>>110211482did you linked a Microsoft account to Windows?>>110211526>recover your data in a linux live environmentdata are encrypted
>>110211544It's not. I know it says it is but it's not. It just werks.
>>110211482give the laptop back to whoever you stole it from , Jamal
>>110211482>i don't have recovery key anywhere!why are you retarded?
>>110211544>did you linked a Microsoft account to Windows?no never>>110211541>backupi almost lost all my data a couple of months ago because all my important information was on a 20-year-old laptop hdd. it died, but i managed to recover some information. i havent made any backups since then>>110211579shit happens
>>110211482Sorry for you're lossStop using the heckin TPM in the future. I know you have to go out of your way to enable passwords for bitlocker, but it's more secure as in less likely to wipe your fucking data.
Why did you say Yes to Bitlocker if you weren't going to link an account or save the key
>>110211482Literally go to aka .ms/recoverykeyfaq like it says and help yourself. Not that hard.
>>110211482I thought everyone was smart enough to disable encryption. It's literally a trap to fuck you in the future.
>>110211591>no neverSo I don't think there is an easy way to recover the key...Since there is a "skip this drive" button you have more than a drive, are you sure that your data are in the encrypted one?>i almost lost all my data a couple of months ago because all my important information was on a 20-year-old laptop hdd. it died, but i managed to recover some information. i havent made any backups since thenIf you still have the old HDD you could try to recover something from it again
>>110211644>old HDDi drilled it...>>110211644>Since there is a "skip this drive" button you have more than a drive, are you sure that your data are in the encrypted one?yeah, im fucked up
>>110211670That's weird, I thought that Windows 11 encrypted the system drive only, not other drives.Did you encrypted it manually or did you have a dualboot?
>>110211700>Did you encrypted it manuallyit happened because of my mistake. the current Local Disk C is another disk i connected to use the pc, locked is my main 1tb ssd
>>110211515
>>110211482Why did you set up encryption if you weren't going to remember the key, retard. Just wipe the disk and reinstall
>>110211482Daquan
>>110211717The PC got locked randomly or something changed in Windows (Drivers, Updates etc) or in the BIOS?
>>110211482If you have a microsoft account I think they can get you a recovery key.
>>110211762>or something changed in Windows (Drivers, Updates etc) or in the BIOS?]yeah...i run optimization script https://github.com/FR33THYFR33THY/WinSux>bcdedit /deletevalue allowedinmemorysettings>bcdedit /deletevalue isolatedcontext >bddedit /deletevalue hypervisorlaunchtype and then its was ITS OVERcompletely my mistake, i didnt even need to tweak my pc. my first winlocker KWAB
>>110211852Your fault for completely trusting some random zoomer on YouTube/X.com for "optimization". Just stick to Mac/iPhone.
>>110211852I'm afraid there's nothing you can do...The only thing you can do is leave the drive untouched and hope that some exploit is discovered in the future that will allow you to unlock it.For the future, I advise you to be very careful with Bitlocker, keep it disabled or if you want it enabled, save or print the recovery key and store it in a secure place.
>>110211852yikes
>>110211482Try to pull the power and wait or something.. bit locker is super buggy, my laptop randomly triggered it because the power adapter went bad. Pulling out the battery and pressing the little reset power pin, then booting it after a few minutes fixed it.
>>110211515better luck next time then>smart enough to encrypt>dumb enough to not have backupsgetting mixed signals here
Give it back Jamal.
>>110211482If you can't find a working exploit right now just keep the drive around exactly as it is and wait a few weeks or months until something new gets discovered. Doesn't help now of course but the chance of MS actually writing bug free software is 0 and we're in the golden age of finding exploits right now thanks to LLMs so unironically just wait two weeks.
>>110212209>uses bitlockerThat was all the signal you needed to know OP had no backups
>>110211482try random passwords
>>110212279BASED
>>110211482what did you do?I once updated the bios and that shit triggered bitlocker kekyeah better have that recovery key stored somewhere bro :c
>>110212209>Using random girhubman debloat script>Smart enough
>>110212304>I once updated the bios and that shit triggered bitlocker kekYou disable bitlocker first before doing something drastic like that.
>>110212361yeah I forgot bro, learned my lesson. Thankfully had my recovery key saved in a different device so its all good, just shat half a brick
>>110212310but they're open soooouuuuurce
>>110211574fpbp
>>110211482The key is 48 digits long. It only takes 10.7 trillion years to cycle through every combination. Hope that helps
>>110212425BACK YOUR SHIT UP.
>>110211482Give it back Tyone
>>110211515No backup, no pity. It's a tale as told as time. (as old as computer, rather)
>>110211852Changing anything via bcdedit invalidates the TPM and you have to reenter your bitlocker recovery key
>>110211482Did you get ransomwared? I'm confused on what happened. If you got ransomwared you probably don't have any option but to reinstall or whatever.
>>110214135Nah I just stole the computer.
>>110211852God damn, I'm sorry to say but you are more than a little retarded. I'm sorry you have to deal with this though. In the future, and if you care about things like bloat or tracking, you should just install Linux. You can also then encrypt your drive with LUKS which definitely has less backdoors than Bitlocker too.
>>110214135He willingly encrypted his drive, willingly forgot to save his key and willingly ran a meme optimization script that made Wangblows ask for the key
>>110211567It is encrypted.
>>110214082this, as >>110211852>https://github.com/FR33THYFR33THY/WinSuxthat script actually does opposite and disables bitlocker during its run
>>110212361>>110212425For personal use, there is little to be gained by FDE. If you desire to protect certain files, you are much better off using encrypted containers or flash drives etc. That way the data is protected but you dont run into these kinds of issues. You can also store/move multiple copies of the container if you wish.
>>110214990That's why home encryption is enough on Linux.
>>110211482Now is a great time to SWITCH TO GNU/LINUX! I recommend Qubes OS for maximum security, and a diet eschewing digital crack cocain... err games.
>>110211526Linux live environments are illegal nowThey can be used to do bad things like purchase human organs or order ketamine and nitrous tanks for non medicinal reasons (getting fucked up at a college frat party)Its better to just give up and buy a ChromebookAs for your social life just make a new Facebook account, you can start anewIts okay to be sadIts okay to make mistakes
>>110214372then how did the corpo crowdstrike victims get their shit running again, even when they had no recovery keys?I remember microsoft telling them to bootloop a dozen times
>>110211482it should be in your microsoft account
