Is Linux Mint, macOS 15, and Win 10 LTSC the last bastion for a non-retarded OS experience?

like a lot, if not most, tech, its made by people who either dont use it or only use it for an extremely specialized set of tasks in a specialized environment. It falls apart as an actual product. Feedback may or may not force improvements based on competence and cost.

Microslop is still the same crap. Windows XP was dogshit too before they released Service Pack 2. And if we talk about macOS - it's just an Electron app, not real OS.

How about Oracle (saar) linux? It seemed to me that they have pretty good documentation compared to anyone else, and they don't hide it behind a paywall. I use it, it pretty much "just werks".

macos is good again with 27 and is used by millions of people that actually create things
Ubuntu is still great, used by the worlds top scientists among others
Windows is pretty bad for more than a decade now, but if configured right its completely fine for most people
The reality is that they are all solid if you care about the actual work. If you want a truly unusable OS you need to look at stuff like chromeOS or that Windows Edition that can only install things from the Microsoft Store.

Arch is the most vanilla and unoffensive OS you can get. I don't understand why there is a stigma against it

8.1 became bloated and less responsive and win10 accelerated this trend but then win11 killed the responsiveness x10 so that users would get used to the idea of running an OS virtually/remotely.
    >>
    >>110211154
Yeah, that's just Windows. By that metric, 2000 was peak. 11 is way nicer to use and look at than 10 once you turn off cloudshit.

    >8 and most of 10
I completely avoided them by using XP until 2020, 7 was completely usable until this point too with tools that removed gwx updates, and we have since refined procedures to de-spook ltsc.

    >11
Most spookery can be bypassed if you actually can't run 10 (lol e cores), next ltsc release supposed to return the UI to native code and be less shit

    >Loonix
The most unnecessary and most tragic fall from grace, literally only usable because Gabe Newel hates Microsoft

Arm only now, x86 support ending in numbered days, native hardware sucks

Yes, because it meant that Linux was now just another program. No need to dual boot into Linux or have a second Linux machine anymore.

    >What's wrong with Operating Systems?
Copyright, patents and other forms of government intervention.
Microsoft has been riding the rail of fucking with other attempts to form a functional OS while letting their own CrapOS decline into deferred maintenance mode.
Microsoft has successfully lobbied for international sanctions against other Operating Systems and pretty much the only reason that their current deceased carcass of an OS hasn't been replaced with ReactOS is that every Windows leak is treated as untouchable due to litigation.

The only successful software in the 21st century has used the GPL to opt itself out of participating in copyright.
    >>110212073
By that logic it's still better to only use Windows as a VM guest, since you can gain more functionality from a Linux host.
    >>
    >>110214067
    >By that logic it's still better to only use Windows as a VM guest
    Absolutely not true.
Windows VMs don't perform well at all on Linux, and don't get any GPU hardware acceleration unless you do direct GPU passthrough.
WSL2 Linux distros get full direct GPU access, so running accelerated workloads works perfectly.
    >>
Arch Linux is pretty good. The problem is that people try to run shitty software on it, and shitty websites feed shitty code into your shitty web browser that you're running. And then your perfectly functioning open source computer system is out of memory.

    >>Arch troons are a horrible blight

I don't understand these guys who think their inability to understand technology is some sort of flex. My grandpa boasts that he can't use a smart phone, and this is the same thing.

Linux isn't hard, it's rock steady, and it does everything I want. OP can't make it work, but that says more about him than it does about any OS.

Listen man I am also a huge fucking autist and computers are my hobby and I like tinkering and understanding how they work, but that isn't the case for 99% of people. You shouldn't have to 'make it work' for ordinary people, it should just work. Which is the case for Mint. Arch honestly isn't bad once you get it set up to your liking, but even that is a bridge too far for someone who defaults to

    >>
    >>110216226
It doesn't stand, actually. You've just not intuited the terminal-end of the conversation. I can spend, maybe 30 seconds on elaborating how and why, but i would much prefer to not, as it acts as a filter separating those capable of novel thought and synthesis of information and those that cannot.
