YouTube has higher quality content today than it ever has, real cinema, and the algorithm rewards thisHowever the converse, now there's also Indians and aislopBack in the day, large channels were all goyslop, churning out daily low-effort slop to farm tarded children for views. I suppose this does still exist but like if you compare MrBeast to PewDiePie from back in the day, MrBeast's content is like 100000000x effort and quality (of course he has a much larger/professional team behind it, but this serves a reference of comparison for how the landscape has changed, you basically need to put in real effort. you can't just churn out daily unedited minecraft let's plays, you need to actually need to put effort into creating high-quality original videos)Back in the day there was basically no reason to ever watch a large channel or even a video with a million views lol. Small channels were where it was at and it wasn't hard to find them. It's not as easy to find good smaller channels these days, they still exist but the search keeps getting neutered worse
>>110207196Youtube is so good that I have to use YTNeuter filter-list + 225 lines of custom filters in uBO to make it work and look properly.
>>110207196Buy an ad, Google.
>>110207227Sauce?
Youpoop is garbage
>>110207196>open youtube incognito>watch 2 shorts>return to homepage>picrel
>>110207340Legit only 1 video I'd click on and it's prob narrated by AI.
>>110207196>you can't just churn out daily unedited minecraft let's playsthe top channels of the let's play rush were more parasitic. An indie dev would make a horror game, and the 5 largest channels would play through it and rake in ad revenue, barely any of the audience would play through the game because they already had it spoiled, and the dev would get nothing
youtube started recommending me hardcore jeet content out of nowhere.
>>110207196YouTube isn't "social media," fuckhead
>>110207228they can't afford to their stock lost like 500 billion in one day
>>110207196>converseIt's "inverse" or "conversely", you dumb ESL jeet fuck- 2 izzat
>>110207596YouTube is socialist media, which is close
>>110207196agreed. if you know how to navigate it...
>>110207596You sure? There's likes, follows and subs, comment section is pretty active even though everything is botted up or clickfarmed.

>>110207196>YouTube has higher quality content today than it ever has, real cinema, and the algorithm rewards thisThis was true up until mid 2021 but it's been regressing since then. Private equity bought out most of the edutainment moguls and raised the production value but severely lowered the information density back down to TV documentary levels. The vast majority of shorts views are clips form legacy media. It's much more common to see two channels blatantly making the exact same video. Most "deep dives" are just reading the wikipedia page or covering some 20 years outdated approach to something very shallowly (any video on image/video compression for example). What's on YouTube is on average significantly more derivative than it used to be. There's an entire cluster of channels that get pretty high views just summarizing (undisclosed) FT articles and then reacting to each other do that as well. And for relatively fungible content like video game playthroughs, people still make them, but there's no value proposition over the older ones, usually.
>>110207196YouTube isn't social media just because videos come with an unrelated ape exhibit next to each one.
>>110207596I miss when it used to be more social. Back when you could PM people and form groups and leave profile comments.
>>110207340Even with history turned off, you occasionally get algorithmically bombarded with certain channels or types of videos.
>>110212429That was also around the time the not interested and do not recommend channel buttons shamelessly stopped working to the point where the broken SPA nature of the site leads to the videos appearing on the next video but still having the undo card lmfao.
>>110207196Not really. You cant get around their age restricted videos.
>>110207196so great. why just today it made a new category on my home page called youtube featured and put a 5 year old wkuk stream in their (that ive already watched)truly amazing product saar
>>110207196Another difference is that in the 2010s, channels would abuse the hell out of Youtube Spaces before the company shut them down in 2020. Like youtube got all this hoping to make more Smoshs and Nigahigas, meanwhile they'd fit the bill for a whole stage and an ARRI just to film "Americans try Australian Snacks" and "Kids React to Happy Wheels" and "15 easy life hacks"
