Shit, I was gonna debate the expensive part, but apparently the cheapest model is $450 now. That escalated quickly, I got my basic one for like $259 what feels like just a few years ago, but I guess maybe it was like 2019.

For the stuff tablets are actually good for, I don't really think there's a good alternative. I bought a mini to use for Foreflight when I was doing flight training, and it only runs on iOS so you're kinda stuck unless you switch to alternatives that are worse and won't sync up with your instructor's Foreflight for logging hours etc. At $259 my old regular iPad was great for reading random wikipedia type shit in bed or on the shitter too. A mobile OS tablet isn't a PC replacement and I never tried to use it as one so I can't speak on anything like that.

I definitely wouldn't. I had to use mine for that when I was dating a girl who didn't want to have sex as much as I did but would get mad if I looked at porn or fapped so I had to sneak it in the bathroom and the ipad is awful for that, trying to navigate such a big thing with one hand while fapping with the other is impossible.
