It is kinda ironic how artists barely suffered any damage from AI and programmers turned out to be the actual losers in the trade.Years of mocking artists came back as karma to punish you.
>>110204555>
Turns out you can't AI soul meanwhile Claude is good enough to replace most npc code monkeys
>>110204555artists were already starvingnow it's codemonkeys turn
You didn't notice online artists tearing eachother to shreds over imagined instances of tracing over AI slop?
Artists who already had platforms were always going to be fine, but any smaller artist got raped and you’ll never hear from them.
>>110204586Those were nothingburgers. They make for good drama content on Youtube, though.
Everyone knew this would happen from the start. Only retards thought ai slop art would be... what? Valuable? Slop code though, now that's something corporate can latch on to.
It was just a few vocal schizos spamming stuff about luddites/"artcels"/etc. Hell there's like thousands of uploads from the snailcat guy, which is kind of acceptable though because snailcat is funnny. The sociopathy was pretty easy to pick up on.
Art is one of those things where people often care about the who, how and why more than the end product itself. And I think artists had less to lose in general as it's a fairly rare profession statistically speaking, and it's rarely even a profession and not just a hobby for most.Programming is different in both aspects - people generally don't care who made their software as long as it works, and it's a popular profession that's not a hobby nearly as often.
>>110204600how about those same artists using AI as an excuse to gang up on smaller artists and deny them artist alley booths at conventions by accusing them of using AI?
>>110204657I am not going to repeat myself. Artists love petty drama, but it never affects anyone at scale unless it's a Google dockey about how an artist leveraged his powerful 500 follower count to "manipulate" a 17 year old girl to having enthusiastic consensual sex with him.
>>110204555Arisu is nice.
You are all retarded, xitter artists always abuse whatever shit they can use while tearing each other apart for doing the same (i.e. gatekeeping). Drawing methods, using references, using 3d models for poses, photobashing paint, using liquify to fix proportions, prefabs, custom brushes that do all the work, mimicking someone's style, mimicking someone's palette, tracing shit from other people or pinterest, and now tracing from AI.The only difference between codemonkeys and drawfags is that the latter community constantly get into fight about shortcuts so that everyone thinks their drawings are the result of sweat and blood instead of vid rel
>>110204555>hag coded pissy attitude loli as nice girlmake it make sense
>>110204830"using references is cheating" has done irreparable damage to the western artist sphere, meanwhile japs all tell you to trace their favorite anime cus that's how they learned to draw as a kid
>>110204858Western individualism will never not be a form of self-sabotage
>>110204858>meanwhile japs all tell you to trace their favorite anime cus that's how they learned to draw as a kidYeah and now modern anime looks like inbred trash, only the most retarded will say that reference is cheating but there's a limit.
>>110204858that's how you end up with everything looking the same
>>110205064yeah "western anime artists" have famously unique styles
>>110204555Sure sure pal, just 2 more weeks
>>110205112>"western anime artists"yeah the good ones don't make anime
>>110204555for me its these ugly as fucking sin flyers for events. Im tired of these fucking talentless hacks sending me flyers while spouting out shit like>support local music/artists/businessesuntil its time to spend 20 bucks on a graphic designer to shit out an event flyer or take 30 minutes to learn gimp>t. have canceled events at a venue i help run because im not attaching one of these absolute doshit flyers to us
>>110204555bruh AI art is everywhere. Work for graphic designers collapsedIronically the most loud anti-ai people, the furry smut artists, are least impacted as they managed to successfully make furry ai art be seen as low statusthe real money was always from companies needing art for their products, ads, whatever, and that money shrunk over 10x
I wonder what's wrong with OP that would cause them to act this way.
>>110205601graphic design is kind of a different thing, it would be interesting to see how much concept art and illustration jobs have been impacted.
>>110205064Tracing anime is more about getting you to master linework (light lines vs. heavy lines for instance) and basic stuff like composition before moving on and getting creative. Eastern artists can be masters of realism often.
>>110205492>t. have canceled events at a venue i help run because im not attaching one of these absolute doshit flyers to usbased beyond belief
>>110204592Smaller artists weren't making money in the first place
>>110205654that's moving the goalposts.
He doesn't even know just how fucked artists are now
>>110206266its not nobody thinks about graphic design when they talk about art
>learn to codeI wonder if they're just as smug today as they were back then. That being said, I lost all hope of ever "making it" as an artist, even though as a lawyer with an already established customer base I have more spare time (and $) than ever to polish my skillset: all I do nowadays is just read/correct what my AI assistant spits out for an insignificant fraction of the cost of my former human junior, lol. I would replace all judges with ad-hoc models in a heartbeat, though.
>>110206224we have a graphic designer that does most of our flyers (not pic related. just picked one off of goybook) when a show gets put together but some bands like to use their own. Not a problem. ezpz. These Ai flyers look fucking horrific and all look the exact same. Its the delusional arrogance that people would rather have their show canceled than have us do one up or even just write the bands on a fucking sticky note with time/date, scan and send it in and use that as a flyer. I dont even personally hate AI but if youre an artist trying to sell yourself, put a little fucking effort in. I havent seen a single band/artist/dj/etc that has been anything more than "ok" using this shit. I am just astounded that people dont find this utterly repulsive and think this digital vomit is anywhere close to acceptable. A flyer is literally one of the easiest things to do and theyre too fucking lazy to even do the bare minimum.
>>110206715>dont even personally hate AIdon't worry, getting exposed to this shit will make you hate it.
usecase for developers/programmers? literally all of them could be replaced by claude already
>>110204555can't get fired if you are already unemployed
>>110204555seethe AIjeetstill employed, negotiating a raise soon
>>110204555
>>110206715I don't work as a programmer but I always liked it as a hobby, nowadays knowing (or learning) how to program has become completely irrelevant, AI can write better code than I will ever do, most importantly it can actually solve problems better than me, there is also an issue of a code written by human and by AI, with art, human artist can produce a painting, a sculptor can sculpt etc, those works can be used as a reference but those physical items are real and unique, with code it's just 1s and 0s, there nothing unique about it, even if I don't release the source code AI will decompile it and basically rebuild my app. I lost all interest in several personal projects I was working on, there is just no point in working on them (spending time and mental effort), I will have ask the AI to do it and it will do it 30 minutes or less
As a code monkey making music as a hobbyI hate this timeline
>>110204830artists using tools is actually a great thing, as long as they are the ones who made their tools. good craftsmen are always autistic about their tools because the process of making the tool fit them (instead of making their brain fit the tool, ie. learning the tool) is what makes the works they make truly theirs. in other words artists actually need to learn to code and make their own brush engines and script their own workflows of automated inspiration. all of this can be done with ai so you don't need code brain either.
>>110204858only publishing traced art is bad. ditto when genning your coomer slop that only looked good before the post nut clarity. it's why artists are so anal about what works they make that stay online.
>>110207507800 dollars for 1 drawing or 800 dollars for a gpu that makes infinite drawingsI wonder which is the better value
>>110210267only one of those has soul in it thus making it good, chud
>>110210267>800 dollars for a gpu that makes infinite drawings>800anon, i...
>>110204555>Years of mocking artistsYou mean the AI companies' shilling, the one that is ongoing?
>>110210929you dont need an rtx pro 6000 to run anima, a shitty laptop 1060 6gb will run it faster than a twitter artist will even reply to you after taking your money
>>110210267or you can buy a pencil for 1 dollar and an eraser for one more dollar and steal a few pages from the office printer. an $800 GPU is a week's worth of work if you earn $20/h (after tax) which you can spend learning to draw and it will be good for your brain.
>>110213694your time isn't worth anything by your own logic, hearty kek
Isn't commercial art like pretty much all AI generated nowadays? Or do you mean artists as in twitter folk who draw your favourite fetishes?
>>110213710how so?
>>110213728it depends, in the West there is more resistance to AI and most companies at least try to hide their usage, whilst in eastern Europe they're more openly showing AI-generated graphics and "music".
>>110204555Programmers are winning harder than ever before—I just looked at the forums for the MPU I'm using in my next product and all the posts are from jeets asking questions that are trivially solved with SI; this is what programming was like before these incredible and powerful tools: "How do I sign my firmware images in your ecosystem?", "How do I build only the firmware and skip Linux while doing development?", "How do I generate images what work with my workflow using your scripts?". None of these questions matter anymore: SI gives you a robust solution instantly. I am doing the work of an entire firmware team on top of my prior responsibilities and my work output is higher quality than ever before. Face it—SI is the future and programmers won harder than anyone else: the only job in the future will be programmers using SI to automate every possible task—continuously evolving to new tasks as SI takes over. Where programmers lead—SI follows.
>>110204555>programmerscodemonkeys and tryhards.codemnokeys bc self explanatoryand tryhards like security guysalthough if theyre smart they have a gigantic force multiplier nowif youre an actual software engineer and your job actually consists in solving (new) problems youre totally finein fact, llms are a godsend because you can traverse all of the overt knowledge about a certain topic in a couple prompts
>>110204555Define loser. I have automated my job completly and yet, my boss cant fire me. AI has only made everything easier for me
as a programmer and art/animation otaku i hate this timeline
>>110214984that only means youre not good enoughdo. better.
>>110214995shut the fuck up
>>110204555I don't even know what I should study anymore. I just wanted a white collar job
>>110209953>AI can write better code than I will ever do, most importantly it can actually solve problems better than methis matters even LESS for a hobbyist so I'm tempted to call you a propagandist, but on the off chance you really are just a bit lost please try to remember that your love for what you do is more important than who (or what) can do it better than you, you're not being paid after all. Since your career isn't on the line just have fun and do it your own way.
>>110215612>dont remind meit is what it isdo better, you sad fukken sack>b-but i wanna larp and eat salads all day and get paid 6 figures for that !1!1!!1
>>110216006>schizophrenic ramblingdamn dude, you show that guy! whoever that is in your head must really deserve it!YOU do better.
>>110209953I'm the same way but I persist because I'm stubborn and enjoy what I do. I will finish my projects and I won't be using AI to do so. I had depressive spells at first but then I realized it's not stopping me at all, I can do whatever I want. I just see this as another excuse for me to slack off. I've spent over a decade harnessing my skills and I'm not going to give up now just because something may or may not happen in the future.
