The modern day tech job market is exactly like the modern dating market. The top 10% of men (software engineers) get all the attractive women (high paying jobs) without even trying while the other 90% fight for scraps and either remain incels (unemployed) for life or have to settle for an ugly fat wife (mid 5 figure salary in a dead end job) for the rest of their lives.

There's some truth if you're a Westerner competing within Western countries, but you still have a lot of companies willing to hire whoever they can find in India. Indians make up a plurality of GTA6 development for example.

Your jeet shit is irrelevant. /g/ is an American board concerned with American issues.

Gamification of the interview process has created a lot of very rich people. leetcode was probably the best time investment you could ever make to improve your income. A lot of these interviews you see come off of people on Blind just asking others for references. There was a guy at my workplace who spent his time at work practicing leetcode questions. He didn't get much done in terms of actual work and while not a bad person personality wise just wasn't pulling a lot of weight. Ended up getting a job at MS on the Azure team, more than doubled his income etc. He was not a particularly good developer, just invested his time smartly.

I don't know how the current job market is or how far leetcode skills go. I imagine they are still highly relevant even with AI.

Facts hurt your fee fees, drop your retarded bravado and go do something about it, no cares about your patriotic screeching on an anime themed site.

>dating analogy

> 6k devs
Seems a bit much. Did they put Steve Baller in charge or smth?
>>
why would you pay someone with 5 yoe 650k? How does that make any sense that dude barely knows anything. Modern devs are even worse.
>>
Didn’t zuck hire some 25yo at 250m/yr? Whole industry is a grift.
>>
>>110203345
it has always been this way though?
>>
That's how life works in general.
>>
>>110203345
who told you to cheat in uni instead of studying saaaaaaaar?
>>
>>110203345
No way that's real
>>
>>110203345
>The top 10% of men (software engineers) get all the attractive women (high paying jobs)
Except they aren't the top 10%, they're just non-Whites and women.
>>
>>110203680
Yeah but Zuck will burn though that guy within a year and kick him off with an ironclad NDA
>>
>>110203345
I'd rather work at Google than Netflix but for 210k extra Netflix is a no brainer. Unless you can use the other offers as a bargaining chip against Google.
>>
>>110203345
I wonder how people earning 400k+ feel, I earn 200k and feel like I still earn 60k
>>
>>110204041
There's a pattern found in a lot of places where consumption will always rise to match production. So someone making 400k vs making 40k will feel equally broke because they just match how much they spend to how much they earn.
>>
>>110203364
You know those jeets just do busy work no one else wants to do right? I bet 95% of them could be replaced with AI agents, and 50% of the other countries' staff as well.
>>
>>110203345
This analogy kinda falls apart when you factor in the 90% of spinster roastie beckys who can't get a top 10% Chad to commit, lol

I discovered my 2023 ex's new dating site profiles just yesterday, bitch is reaching the JUST stage way past the wall now heading for her late 30's and is using delulu AI pics that don't look like her actual self at all (and which omit the giant doodlenigger tramp stamp on her biceps as well ofc, lmao)
>>
>>110203394
>shabbat shalom goyim sir do not look at is and our golems
>>
>>110204343
How does it fall apart? FAANG companies can't get the top 10% of software engineers to stay either because they have total freedom to get a job wherever they want. If you're in that exclusive group, you can hop from company to company every year with an even bigger salary each time. These people are all making close to 7 figures after 10 yoe. Meanwhile I'm at 10 yoe and I haven't even broken 6 figures yet and get maybe one interview for every 100 jobs I apply to.
>>
>>110203345
Those are crazy numbers.
It may be cope, but I'm fine with my 92k (expected to cap out around 140k in another 7 years or so). Already I have a home I can afford and am making extra payments on.
Live by myself on my lonesome but I get by with my modest hobbies.
>>
>>110203671
he knows the current shit, which is all that matters most of the time. who the fuck cares if someone knows how to do shit that was hot 10 years ago. 95% of work these days is the new shit
>>
>>110203771
have you been asleep for the past decade? i constantly get recruitment emails for jobs that are $400K+/yr
>>
>>110204041
Yeah man you should probably budget. My lifestyle hasn't really changed at all going from 80k to 200k

>>110204593
It's all relative to when you started and cost of living in your area. I wouldnt be able to afford a home comfortably at this moment in any city id like to live in. If i made this much 10 years ago id be able to buy a house in cash
>>
>>110204593
I'm in the same boat at 110k. Thinking I'll be good here for the rest of my career. I work for a non-profit (so student loans forgiven) fully remote and everyone here treats me like a god and I usually put in a solid 1-2 hours of work a day. I could bust ass for more, but I'm 37 and over the ladder climbing
>>
Correct

Anyone under mid 6 figures in 2026 is coping majorly and in denial of the fact that simple reality dictates major depressive disorder by the very virtue of simply being a menial wage slave nigger cattle cuck

They should truly commit suicide immediately, literally throw themselves into a wood chipper on a public live stream

It would do a favour to all the high net worth people and the attractive women who UNFORTUNATELY have to deal with poor men every. single. fucking. day.

How are you a man and poor in 2026 in a system that was LITERALLY DESIGNED FOR YOU? LMAO

Kill yourself you're poor holy fuck. The cut off is mid 6 figures per year but soon rapidly approaching a million dollars a year in salary. If you haven't reached that there is essentially zero point in your existence since you are perma locked out of 99.9% of lifes experiences and you will NEVER have access to quality worthwhile women

>>110206822
>everybody under 6 figures commits suicide
>6 figures automatically becomes the minimum wage
>your pay is now worth nothing
truly a genius move

It's not

Indian men will be overjoyed to hear that.
>>
>>110203400
A lot of places stopped doing leftover interviews because people gaming memorizing solutions but not making productive code (and now that you can just get the solution with your company AI it doesnt matter).
My Amazon interview has a leetcode medium that you must do unassisted that counts for half technical interview credit, but the rest is just seeing if you can use claude code or an equivalent to handle modifying an actual codebase.
>>
>>110209408
>leftover
I'm not bothering see what else mobileposting fucked up
>>
>>110204041
Usually these salaries are in liberal shit holes where cost of living is out of control.

Like in so cal where a starter home is 1.5 million and you pay 50% more in taxes than other states.
>>
Now that Ai can do everything isn't it just a race to the bottom now? We'll end up being super efficient while coding and earning 60k.
>>
>>110209501
That was the plan since they started with offshoring, bootcamps, and H1Bs. This one might actually stick.

which is literally how it works in pretty much any domain/environment?
just settle for what you can get granted your starting conditions, stop looking at others and seething at them and comparing yourself to them, otherwise you will always live a miserable life and never try to accomplish anythhing (even if you know that you will never be the best of the best)
>>
>>110203364
Bay area only. Except for anthropic, non-bay-area jobs even by FAGMAN pay ass by US standards anywhere else (of course bay area being a stand in, not a literal term).
>>
>>110205427
Knowing syntax has nothing to do with actual dev work. It's a tool, like claiming that the only thing that matters in biology is mastering the use of a microscope. Architecture, software design, product vision, UX, DX, defensive practices, tactics for improved team efficiency, knowing what to do when a process just dies and gives no error message, etc. are only really built through experience. For example, the likelihood that someone recognizes the symptoms of experiencing memory failure on their machine without having suffered a 2w++ wild goosechase in a complex algorithm that actually worked perfectly is basically 0. This is what seniority buys.
>>
>>110209483
lol 50% more? Try like 300% more. People paying 40k a year in taxes for a single story 2bd bungalow in the bay area. That's rent in NYC for a nice apartment in Manhattan.
>>
>>110204398
I have fagman experience (fte, not intern or contractor slop) and that has been a negative on my job search. Many companies (rightfully) consider fagman exp a red flag because "this person won't know how to work on tight deadlines with budget constraints".
>>
>>110203345
I think the modern day tech market needs to look at what happens to the price of a good, software in this case, with a relatively inelastic demand in the short term, hits the biggest spike of supply we've ever seen.
>>
>>110207286
That's far more than you deserve, so don't complain.
