If you aren't doing picrel in your AI generated projects, you're lying to your users about it's copyright status
>>
>>110201231
The Copyright Office guidance is NOT Jurisprudence nor Case Law, nor is it an Act of Congress.
If NYT wins against Microsoft and OpenAI, then it is likely that LLM weights and generated code are derivative works.
This is identical to the FSF position on static linking, e.g. "LLMs as a lossy compiler."
This would mean that any LLM trained on GPL must:
1. Distribute their weights as GPL.
2. Code generated is GPL.
>>
https://www.netbsd.org/developers/commit-guidelines.html
Pretty much already the case, though, unofficially.
>>
why did you post this the tim sweeney reactor is going into meltdown mode again
>>
>>110201442
It would be pretty funny to GPL nuke all the AI companies
>>
>>110201231
but does that mean if you ask AI to create something that is obvious copyright infringement you are not liable?
>>
i just slap mit on it because honestly who cares
the only value in software now is how easy it is for the end-user's agent to modify
if you a user thinks
>i wish this worked like x instead of y
and can't have that be real in a few minutes, then there's no reason for your software to exist
>>
>>110201879
This looks to be the case for now, but I think something will be done about this in the near future, so I'll give the AI Photoshop clone a few years to exist.
>>
Also all the mental patients on this board don't realize that AI will never replace programmers, because it's only used in 30% of the project AT MOST exactly because of potential copyright problems.
>>
We need a GPLv4 with an anti AI training clause at this point
>>
>>110201231
>the guys with money and power won't get what they want
>the law will protect us

lol, lmao even

Lol

My country doesn't recognize the public domain
(no, seriously, it doesn't. It is physically impossible for you to put things in the public domain here)
>>
>>110206320
so you are forced to license everything you create?
>>
>generate everything with local Claude Code session
>don't let claude be the one to commit and push
>do it yourself
>your name shows as the credit for all the lines
>nobody can prove you used AI
Simple as
>>
>>110206334
>>nobody can prove you used AI
this is like alcoholics thinking that no one can tell. trust me, we can tell
>>
>>110202644
>everyone is crazy but me
gonna be increasingly delicious to watch you people lose your little minds
>>
>>110206333
correct
>>
>>110206361
I was shitposting, but I don't think "I just know he used AI, it looks like typical AI formatting" would hold up in court, assuming no other evidence (logs from Anthropic, or the PC that used it) could be procured.
>>
>>110206408
i guess. i meant more about trying to pass off ai generated code to your peers as being made by you. people who here coding prior to vibecoding can tell that something was generated based on your commit styles and whether the code makes sense for a person to write. vibecoders don't realize they are snitching on themselves whenever they commit code that is full of "llm-isms"
>>
>>110206467
Oh yeah, its obvious as hell. The big giveaway is the ridiculous way it writes comments. No human user is going to comment their code in that style.
>>
>>110206320
so who owns the rights to the bible in your country
>>
>>110201442
Whats GPL?

most countries let copyright expire (very few in reasonable time now after uncle sam lobbied but they do)
>>
>>110201231
You can't put it in the public domain and have a MIT-like license.
>>
>>110207236
i've heard some places won't let you place things in the public domain yourself, but things can still become effectively public domain naturally over time
>>
>>110208964
If you can't put something in the public domain, just use the 0BSD license, same as Unlicense, but different wording, where you're not "putting it in the public domain", but licensing it to allow everyone to do anything with it
>>
>>110201231
A file named "License.txt" that opened to ASCII art of Goatse would be more respectable.
>>
>>110201231
even though its LLM generated. i still put GPL on it.
>>
>>
>>110201879
it means the opposite. if you make an original work with AI, you cant gain copyright on it
>>
>>110209677
What a dumb cartoon.
Nobody wanted to write books by hand or use inferior lighting.
Not a single person complained about those advancements.

What is different this time is that a inferior products are shat out by AI and when people point out how bad the buggy vibeshit is the prompt writer gets angry like we killed his baby.

Deboonked
>>
>>110209838
You're acting like humans outputted pristine bug-free code. And that coding is actually fun. people can handwrite code the same way they can write a book using scrolls and a fountain pen
>>
>>110209838
luddie liar
>>
>>110209849
Hand written code can be good or bad.
Vibeslop is always bad.

Go ahead, name ONE (1, uno, just a single) piece of AI generated software that is decent quality.
>>
>>110206361
It's beautiful, isn't it? Humans, completely away from my code.
>>
>>110206334
My name already shows up retard. You think I give Claude seperate git credentials?
>>
>>110206403
You can't license non-human made works by international agreements. What third world country are you in?
>>
When will regulators force AI into watermarking itself, so public domain code will not be licensed under anything else?
>>
>>110201890
Based MIT licenser
>do whatever you want
>don't sue me
>simple as
>>
>>110212004
the MIT license requires attribution, the 0BSD does not
also AI companies don't enforce anything at all, they just don't look at the licenses of what they're training their model on
