    >rogue AI cyber attack brings down the internet

How would we communicate? through CLI message boards?
    >>
    ol' reliable
    >>
And how would you connect to those CLI message boards, anon?
    >>
Piece of paper stuck to a message board?

Where I live (Ohio), there's no "town square", but there is a posting board on the side of the courthouse. Certain things (bids for contracts, foreclosures, etc) are required to be "publicly posted". This fulfills that requirement.

Newspapers, or at least printed pamphlets/flyers/guides/etc, would probably become popular again.

The "internet" being brought down doesn't have to mean literally everything including the isps being brought down.
It could just be cloudflare aws dns and other services. You could still have connectivity in those circumstances. Direct p2p networking could still be possible
    >>
    >>110200516
Yeah but when rogues AI agents can chew through security it's kinda game ogre
    >>
Same as we always ever did: IRC.
    >>
    >>110200624
What part of "the internet is down" are you struggling with?
    >>
    >>110199986
    smoke signals
    messenger pidgeons
    cell phones
    telegraph
    radio
    mail
in person (hopefully it doesnt get this bad)
    >>
    >>110199986
    Meshtastic or similar
    >>
    >>110201013
No, you can't use messanger because the internet is down. What part of this do you not understand?
    >>
    >>110199986
Question, how do you bring down a decentralised network?

lol another zoomie who thinks the web is the internet
    >>

Hmm yeah I'll give you that, but thats a small community and the ASN people usually sort it quickly, when Pakistan jeers up their attempts to block YouTube for example

I would assume this would be forced upon them by the government

i would unironically rope. I have no friends, no family, i live alone in a small apartment and never leave the house. I have no tv no books or anything at all to occupy my life other than my computer and an internet connection. If the internet was down completely at the isp level and not even my phone can connect to the internet I have absolutely nothing else i can do other than stare a wall. I can't go outside because of deep rooted social anxiety, it would be like solitary confinement except prison would be more stimulating. The internet is all i have don't take it away from me.

a great reset of the internet could turn out to be a good thing. it would be interesting to observe people organizing their isolated little local networks, dodging AI etc.

    Meshtastic:
    https://meshtastic.org/

You could probably communicate long distances this way with enough effort

get a $20 kindle and jailbreak it (or just download an epub reader) and hoard some ebooks
I would link this collection but I don't even remember where I got it. might have been from /lit/?

I have 48GB of Amiga TOSEC disks to dig through. more than enough to last me two lifetimes.
but in this scenario, I will probably be too busy trying to get food though.

MeshCore preppers have been prepping for this exact scenario for years. you'd be surprised how much infra is already put in place, all by paranoid schizos. I think I will be getting 2-3 more of these.

I always was curious about local library but I'm not sure if I would fit there. They seems to have fun, lately had collab with local pottery and ceramic club during an open night.

How would those not need internet access? You've got a dial up modem lying around? Your phone line, if you still got one, is probably VoIP. Why are you so fucking stupid?

theoretically, you can create private channels. I tried it with mixed results, but it should work (in theory).
and if you mean a rogue client could be just shitting up the band, that would be illegal in most places, and feds should take such device down.

I have an ICOM 9700, it's pretty comfy. On calm nights I've talked all the way to Oceania with it and a simple wire antenna. Digital modes go even farther and are basically like text chat. Would recommend, though the rigs themselves are pricey and 10 meter interferes with my modem and nukes my internet sometimes.

Did we ever get any information on just how IDF was able to exfiltrate live feeds from numerous cameras in Tehran? The bandwidth had to be impressive.

Unironically, we go back to BBS and Ham Radio, we will all be much happier.

We can run a MUD and do raids, it'll be great.

your mother and father were actually brother and sister, weren't they? raid proof only works if you have someone permanently unemployed using the site 24/7. very few do this.

Found out this was basically me when a while ago a huge storm took my power out for over a day and my phone wasn't charged. Instead of re-examining my circumstances my move was to just buy a large battery bank so if it happens again I won't have to go without the internet/phone because I immediately started going crazy.
