Ordered the TRN black pearl last week and it arrived today, got around to plugging them in after work and it seems to work just fine with my phone but after plugging it into my PC the first thing I noticed was that the windows audio test cuts off the first tone in each channel. I then found out that it also occurs when opening video/audio files and is very easy to notice with songs that play a distinct note in the first frame. It only happens on fresh openings and not when I rewind to the first note.
I'm a little worried that the DAC is damaged, though I can't see any apparent damage on it or the packaging. I've never owned one so I'm not sure what to make of it. I tried using another USB C to C cable and an older USB 3 to C cable and it's still happening. I'm on Windows 10.

What are the best DEEP INSERTION IEMs?
Should I get Etymotic ER2XRs, YU9 U-556, or YU9 404?

I heard that the Brainwavz pads are good, if not a little better than stock by being a little thicker. The stock pads on the MDR-7506's are godawful. Paper-thin leatherette that looks like a gaping anus, bound to deteriorate really quickly so I might as well replace them with something nicer before that happens.

I bought a new battery and resoldered it after 6 years. The battery still worked at the time... but I figured I'd replace it anyways to ensure another 6 years of use.

I don't know if it was the best solder job... I bought a $15 soldering iron on Amazon. And never soldered before (see low-res img).

The driver part is interesting. But then you open the app, a graph inside wide bounds appears - and then what? What are you even supposed to do? They tried so hard to stop people from misusing targets that they forgot you have to EQ to something before you start making adjustments.

Hey im the guy with the bijou.. im back and giving it a proper drunken listen. Well trying to anyway. Im only two glasses on wine in. Theyre ummm. OK.

The BC driver definitely adds something. Its still not as bass heavy as a normal DD. However, theres more depth to the bass. Im finding male vocals just a but thin.. they fit great in my ears though...

Im not gonna say these are new fav just yet. The zero 2 is a hell of an iem to dethrone.

On the other hand, this BC driver is doing something good with the bass. Its adding more depth. Its widening the soundstage. The BC driver is good. I think what I want to have is just a DD and a BC.. maybe.

The bijou fits great. Its really pretty. The resin shell looks incredible. I just cant say im a huge fan of the BA driver. I with the bass thumped more. Nonetheless, I think its an iem that ill use often. 7 out of 10. The soundstage is really cool on this one due to the BC driver. But.. the BA driver leaves a little to be desired. It would probably have been better if that was deleted entirely and this iem was tuned with a wild W shape or something..

I'm gonna say it. The bijou is better than the zero 2 after some EQ. Theres just more here on the bijou. But it needed EQ. It didnt get there when I first plugged it in and the sound signature was flat. After playing with the EQ this thing really comes alive.

My ear devices tell me that the bijou wins. It wins in speed, detail and bass.

Now the zero 2 is an iem to be celebrated. It was basically the best in the budget category for a long time.. it punched way above its weight class.. but new stuff is out. Namely its the BC (bone conductor) drivers. This changes things a lot. As much as I admire what the zero 2 did for the iem hobby its time had passed. Now we have bone conductor drivers. Its a whole new ball game.
