Steam deck with Bluetooth keyboard and stand instead of laptop?I wanna play handheld games and use it as a laptop (for uni etc) good idea?

>>110195202Get a monitor too. Also a way better keyboard and mouse. And a steam controller v2. Then enjoy BT latency.
>>110195202with a keyboard and screen it works very well as a DESKTOP replacement that you can also pick up and game onit's a terrible idea if you need a laptop. pic related is uncomfortable as fuck. the screen is too small for any serious work
>>110195224I have a gaming pcThis would be laptop for uni
Bad idea. Get a cheap laptop for school work. Spend the rest on a steam deck if you want to game.
>>110195202Nigger get a portable 15'' screen or some shit.
>>110195202This is exactly why I wish the steamdeck came out in 2010. Yes yes, shittier hardware, but that would have been a great combo at uni
>>110195202>use it as a laptop (for uniHorrible idea. If you MUST have a handheld gayman device that doubles as a laptop, get a GPD Win Max 3.But really you should probably just get a regular laptop.
>>110195530>>110195503I have a Thinkpad T580But an eck seems much practial, 1 device for games and as laptop
>>110195202you cant use it as a work/university laptop, its too small and awkward. get an old thinkpad off ebay and use the deck as a game console like you're supposed to.you can possibly do some cool stuff with the deck in desktop mode, but it will never be usable as your primary working device.
>>110195654>primary working device. It would just be for uni shit nothing primary
>gaming device as a uni laptopyou're a big boy now, you can go a few hours without playing bing bing wahoo while actually studying
>>110195202You could use it as a Desktop PC but you'd look like a gigadork in campus.
>>110195202>>110196641>universityno wonder the post quality has been shit lately, just a bunch of zoomers here
I have the steam deck. I love it and I use it all the time for gaming and non gaming tasks. I don't think you should rely on the steam deck for a full time laptop replacement. You are probably being lied to about how well it works as a desktop OS. You will run into issues with the immutable os, limits based on discover/flatpaks. Without full disk encryption support you probably don't want to be doing online banking on such a device. The resolution is a real killer for a lot of software. If you think you can get by with just a web browser only workflow it could work, but if you need any software, even existing Linux native software, you can't rely on this working when you need it and you will end up having to pivot.I don't recommend Check if your uni has good remote desktop vms, that can smooth over a lot of difficulties you might hit.
