/g/ - Technology

Can any uncs chime in and tell me was there ever this same supposed level of backlash to any other new technology or more particularly some piece of software as there seemingly is against AI? And I mean in your lifetime. I vaugely remember people dunking on social media but that seemed like it was old men thowing stones at kids having fun. This seems more like a group of people powerless against an incoming wave. And everyone constantly complaining.

>everyone constantly complaining
the biggest retards always complain the most.
the people who are okay with it dont go on the internet and write essays about why its a good thing. they just remain silent.

you just need to learn not to listen to every retards opinion.

Idunno, the loudest complainers seem to be coming from booru/pixiv crowd now that their engineered by corpos 2D waifu sluts aren't receiving "real artist touch" with all the AI slop flooding the platform. Also gaymers, but those guys have always had room temperature IQ and are borderling tech illiterate. Niggas have been fed a steady diet of corpo slop all their lives. You really need to go back to the 90s to get any semblence of real raw artistry.

>backlash
What you perceive as backlash is more like a projectile vomitting out of force-fed technology hype from yet another instance of a this-will-change-the-world technology that will end up being another nothing burger in a series of nothing burgers that have been force-fed to the sheep over the last 20 years.
Google --> enshitified
Social media--> useless
Smartphones--> made everyone stupid
3Dprinting --> had the most potential but still went nowhere (for now)
crypto--> pyarmid scheme
blockchain--> money laundering scheme
Electric vehicles--> still just a car
Autonomous driving--> I still can't DUI legally
AI --> excuse to lay people off, but not delivering shit

at some point you look around and realize that the west is in decline, we are surrounded by 3rd worlders, everything you buy is an unrepareable piece of shit, and all those gamechanging technologies turned out to be overhyped pieces of shit. You can't even buy a toilet that flushes more than 3 wipes, or a decent hallogen lightbulb anymore. even the porn is getting worse. wtf.

I guess if you asked some old-fart actual boomer (not me) they'd probably say replacing the Carbureator with Electronic Fuel Injection got alot of backlash. The outcome was same shit, more expensive/complicated engine.

the problem is A.I.
Actually, Indians.
a fast spreading block of illiterate, ignorant, corpo/brand enslaved biomass given internet access and a tool that can replace their sick brain when required.
who do you think gens all the slop.
who do you think is mindbroken and retarded enough to accept all the enshittification and still pay for services.
they are the technocrat's wet dream. the perfect, utterly cyber reliant, corporate slave class.
the world you know is undergoing a controlled demolition to supplant us with them.

I mean as opposed to other technologies. These behaviors didn't just emerge in 2023.

the backlash; because I haven't really answered your question.
no, this is somewhat new. the surveillance state after 911 had a harsh backlash but it was mostly covered up by the government and suppressed. the backlash to the coof was also very strong but wasn't televised. the news just never reported on the many anti lockdown and anti compulsory vaccine protests
in terms of tech I don't think I can really answer your question. it seems like in the industrial revolution, and in general in the labor revolutions that made unions and the 5 day work week, there was a heavy degree of this backlash to the existing technological and working conditions, against corporations. so it's the most comparable to now. because this backlash is essentially against corporate/technocratic interests.
the reason why the backlash is so visible and omnipresent is because the technocrats literally do not care, and they can make money off of it, before the whole society collapses as planned, and indians replace everyone. then they rule and enslave the biomass from their ivory towers, back to the days of the robber barons and early oil monopoly basically.

Except that is quite literally what is happening, pajeet.

Only good post in this thread and /thread
AI psychosis did a hell of a number on /g/

We had all the usual "anti" crowds when old mobilr phones (cellphones) came out, when Doom was out (violent video games), when Google and Wikipedia first came out (read an encyclopedia or an educational book, kids), etc, but it wasn't anywhere near as intense as AI.
It's ironic, because almost ALL science fiction and young people back then had AI everywhere in fiction and fantasy. Now that we're actually here at the start, suddenly everyone's shitting a brick.

SystemD in Linux. And before then the ever popular vim/emacs war, of which nano chads ignored entirely.

Basically all the millennial generation did was get high and drunk, fuck, blame boomers, do a shitty imitation of hippies and end up working in a coffee shop, a bar, or a dead-end admin job at 29. AI then came along and haemorrhaged these 'industries' and now it's AI's fault they didn't get their shit together.

For me it was covid that wrecked the food industry business. AI is just a nail in the coffin.

Doomerfaggotry like >>110192678 and >>110192973 just makes you a useless miserable cunt. In my experience, the best thing to do is to get on the ground floor of new technologies (don't spend money though) and try to get an advantage by understanding how things work on a fundamental level. All the backlash is just noise.
For example, you could have experimented with building and maintaining your own website in the 90s, or you could have tried out a multi-use portable device in the early 2000s, or you could have skimmed through satoshi's white paper around 2010, etc. Take each wave of new technology as an opportunity to be an active, informed individual, instead of just lazily hanging back and complaining about everything and saying that the sky is falling.
>>
>>110193112
This isn't like those times, do you even follow the news? Shit's moving at speeds even tech experts can't keep up with. Shit is so advanced too that not one individual can comphrehend it fully, it just hits so many sectors simultaneously and is pushed on a federal level. I've been frantically browsing /g/ for a month trying to just stay informed by what anons in the know are saying.

Between jobs going to jeets and ai, the time to unionize was yesterday

Yes like the massive advantage you would have had knowing all about the betamax and putting your lifesavings into NFTs.
Retard.
t. PhD in "AI".
You don't know shit.
