I'm using agent extensions in vscode. For some reason dipsy write fails every 3-4 times but never happens when I use DSH
    >>
    >>110191205
I just use Pi and it works well.
DSH is a bit too much npm-slop for my tastes.

nta. use omp if you want /plan /advisor and more fancy stuff added on pi
    >>
    >>110191869
It ships with only the bear minimum.
If you want a "plan mode" just ask the agent to make you a plan mode extension. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.
Plan mode is pretty much just a system prompt change anyways.

    >If you want to use frontier performance on Frontier Code complexity level tasks choice is clear to use Anthropic models. But, as per Artificical Analysis V5

    >1) Leading Anthropic models generate very large amount of tokens for Frontier Code 2 kind of tasks (Test time compute) by a factor of 200 to 300%

    >2) They take twice as much time, and cost from 10 to 50 times more.

    >It is quite clear, if one wants to solve Frontier tasks, they are much better of using Anthropic models, but Open Models continue to have favourable economics still and they seem to have scope to get to Frontier performance with more test time compute.

You're right, it shouldn't. In practice DS is really not that smart, and if you don't tell it precisely what you want from a plan mode (which requires you to know what you want), it won't simply produce something useful out of the box.

I seriously hope v5 addresses tone issues. I'm having PTSD from Opus 5. This hyper-terse tone is so gay and annoying to read.
    >>

    >This hyper-terse tone is so gay and annoying
Wonder if this is part and parcel of claude text watermark. No performance loss
    >>
    >>110192460
It's not, because they fixed the tone completely with Opus 5.5. Guess we just have to wait until they start to distill that, I suppose.
    >>
    >>110192468
    >they fixed the tone completely with Opus 5.5
Funny because I find opus 5.5 as autistic
    >>
    >>110192490
Ok, but the super terse tone is completely gone. A lot of AI-isms have been removed from the model entirely. The stuff it produces is actually readable.

I've used both 5.* and 5.5 extensively. I have used them to generate audits for work, and it's night and day. Opus 5.5 without any tone guidance completely blows 5 out of the water, even when we give it guidance such as "write in a natural tone, don't be overly terse," etc. It's not debatable, really, it's night and day, and anyone who has used both models extensibly can tell you that.

I find in general it's really hard to prompt these tone issues out of the model. Your only weapon against it is examples, but those degrade as the model naturally pulls towards that terse language little by little, until your shit turns to slop.
    >>
    >>110192510
That's what weird about opus 5.5 for me. When I task it to write something down it would read like something was off I had to manually read word by word and edit out the things that don't belong. This doesn't happen with deepseek though. My workflow is now let claude plan, draft and then let deepseek rephrase and have claude give feedback and deepseek do the final fix. I haven't tested with 1017 much but that still seem to hold up.

NanoGPT is terrible. You'll get timeouts 7 out of 10 times.
    >>
    >>110195109
It's all mostly cached tokens. Looking at my most active two days this past week, 93% and 92% respectively of about 95M tokens each.
    >>110195125
Is that the case for all models? I've been testing out 1017 flash and GLM 3.5 Flash uncensored and both have been working just fine. Simple Monero payments and uncensored models are a huge plus for me.

Which deepseek model is best for RP in sillytavern? Is it better through openrouter or the direct website?
    >>
    >>110195125
It's not so much their service as their subscription specifically, as you are at the mercy of whichever provider they assign your request to if you want it to count toward your allotted quota. If you use it like Openrouter by purely sticking to pay-per-token and filter out shitty hosts, it's fine.

    >Is that the case for all models?
NTA, but in my experience there is a lot of variance. I never had timeouts 7 out of 10 times or anywhere close, but I did have times where I'd use a model and every few requests would take over a minute to respond and it's fucking annoying. Again though, this was a model provider issue. When I encountered this, I'd switch to another model and the speed would immediately improve. If you don't chain yourself to the sub, you can don't even need to do that for popular models with multiple hosts, you can just find the most reliable one and select it for all your calls. NanoGPT actually lets you see model uptime, reliability, and tk/s on their respective pages.

Even with the sub's limitations, I've been messing around with GLM 5.3 Flash uncensored for the past week and had no complaints. Always fast, no timeouts. When I switch to Deepseek V4 Pro 0813, it's often a lot slower, not just compared to Flash but compared to what you'd expect from Pro served on the official API. Occasionally requests go through at good speeds; that was the case yesterday, but on other days there are times I'd wait for over a minute before getting a response and that's just unforgiveable for RP that hasn't even accumulated a lot of context and uses low reasoning levels.

Again, it's mostly a model host issue, not the router issue. If it concerns you, just don't sub until you've used it for a bit and can verify it meets your standards for whichever models you're there for. Or just don't sub at all and pay for each token if that suits you.
    >>
    >>110195436
I see, thanks. I was banking on the subscription saving me money, but my vibecoding days would immediately exceed the weekly 60M threshold and then I'd get hit with double the cost of OpenRouter.

OpenAI counts on that. They heavily subsidize their models. Compare how much it would've cost you to use their API instead.
Their plan is to lobby the US government to ban Chinese models (or have the Chinese set higher prices for overseas), and then hike prices as soon as they can (after their IPO).

Is there a way to use DSH with the free web chat yet? I need to cheap out for a week or two and can't afford to top off until after Thanksgiving
    >>
    >>110208936
If I understand (guess) correctly, web chat will block you if you use more than ~60 calls an hour.
Just use the free option on openrouter or wherever else. There are a lot of free providers out there.

I feel like my usage for flash is costing way too much, am I doing something wrong here? I calculated it based on the prices on their platform https://api-docs.deepseek.com/quick_start/pricing/, and this amount of output / input should be around 0.007 cents, but just feels like it's doubled.

    Am I getting scammd?
    >>
    >>110211483
False alarm, the cost calculation was not taking into account off-peak pricing. The actual costs are half that, so it's correct.
    >>
    >>110211483
Only look at the cost in ds platform. Everywhere else is an estimate.

I now asked Dipsy to fix it, so I'm good. I was right in that I was seeing double the costs.

    >>110198231
I posted this and I want to correct it: it was 30 cents, not 60, lol.

I want to try running DSH with my local Dipsy (R1, Q8), but the context required for each tool call is kinda nuts. Might have to get V4.1 to build a per-call compaction plugin.

It's worth keeping in mind the peak pricing is designed around office hours in China, so from Friday to Sunday night is the best time to lock in. Monday-Friday you either have to arrange your schedule around theirs or accept the higher pricing.

It is true that some US subscriptions work out cheaper than DS API pricing but I prefer nto to deal with quotas and resets and kindergarten teacher models. I also think that if you're mixing models
    eg >>110208149
that you're giving a lot of your $ savings back in increased handoff/evaluation costs. I'm lucky in that I don't need to count every penny so if I burn $50 on DS tokens it's no big deal, but I also see a high value in being able to track my project development and content histort/stats through a single lens from start to finish instead of trying to reconcile it across different models/providers.
It seems to me that if you need to control your spending very tightly you should be putting some of your time/effort into things like optimizing very small local models that can work as reliable subagents for specific tasks, or developing helper scripts to do housekeeping and prefiltering and basic setup so that low-iq drudgery never hits your model in the first place.
For example, for every new project you might want to generate stub files for readme.md, memo.md (LLM 'notes to self' on braktrhoughs/dead ends encountered during the project), specification.md (architectural/algorithmic detail, etc., set up a new git repo, create your preferred directory structures etc. etc. You might as well automate that instead of burning a few million tokens doing it from scratch every time.
Also consider some of the excellent 'working memor'y plugins available, which do things like scanning your session logs once or twice a day and storing your preferences and working patterns in a local sqlite DB or similar.

For me in Europe I actively have to try to hit the peak times.
