Have you preordered your 512GB Mac Studio yet?
>>
I wonder how good the Blender rendering performance is. That's already 16x the VRAM of the 5090, you could use as many 8K textures in a scene as your heart could dream of and still have a lot of breathing room left.

Unigoyd memory is just a really fast SSD right? Why would anyone want something like this though? AI workloads would rape it within a year.
>>

>Unigoyd memory is just a really fast SSD right?

No, it's system memory that both the CPU and GPU can use at high speeds.
>>
>>110188452
It's 1.2TB/s which is faster than an RTX 5080. The 5090 is the only GPU with faster memory than the M5 Ultra.
>>
>>110188402
No, not yet.
>>
>>110188402
explain to me how a small computer is more expensive than pic related
>>
Um, hello? Why do they even need to sell this crap any more. What do you need a 'fast' CPU for, or a GPU? all you need is a 486 processor to open the web and connect to an AI website and have it generate anything you want.
This is like horse carriage companies trying to sell racing horses after the model T was invented
RIP apple, dump the stock NOW.
>>
>>110188913
You still need a powerful computer to rever engineer GTA 6
>>
>>110188913
you probably don't own any guns either, why would you own a gun when you can just call the police right?
>>
>>110188402
Yeah. I did. This is the reason why I own a base trim Toyota Camry.
>>
>>110188868
the technology needed to make computers is more expensive than the machining mills for building car parts
>>
What games can you play on that thing?
>>
>>110188785
Yeah but applel silycon isn't known for being particularly strong. What's the real use case for having so much ram and storage capacity? The fuck kind of slow ass AI will you run on the thing?
>>
>>110189577
How many times were you dropped on your head as a child
>>
>>110189561
technically any game
>>
>512GB
Still not enough to run frontier models.
>>
>>110188402
yes, but i'm not happy about the $5k fuck you surcharge

Answer the question quasimodo
>>
>>110188402
Man, that's a lot of money, but I'd be lying if I said I ain't jelly.
I'd throw 4ish bpw GLM or the latest Deepseek flash on that thing and have it work on stuff 24/7.

You're brown

>>110188868
really, if we're going into the realm of "expensive hobbies", then you should be looking at the average BMW M3/4/5 owner.

i was so close to affording it, sadly i lost all my money playing online blackjack.

That's way too fucking much money for a machine I can't make any real upgrades to.

Solitaire?
Qbert??

GRAN TURISMO 3??..?

CONSOOOOM!!
>>
>>110192790
If you're buying a $30k workstation for any reason other than jacking off to the big numbers in the specs, in a few years you're going to want upgrades. On most computers you can keep up by gradually upgrading different parts. On a Mac you have to throw the whole thing out and buy a new one - which might be acceptable on a laptop but for a $30k workstation it's ridiculous.
>>
>>110192806
That's fair.
Hey, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to you.
I was way out of line.
You doing anything later? Maybe we can get together.
Nevermind. That was silly of me to even ask.
You're right. You're married. We can never be a thing.
I get it..
Sorry, again.
>>
>>110192806
Yeah, if it's a workstation, parts could deteriorate with heavy daily use.
>>
>>110192841
My CPU seems to be going that direction and I had to underclock it a bit to keep it stable, but from what I hear this is really mostly just an Intel problem. GPUs too but idk how Apple's integrated ones fare. Integrated graphics don't usually run as hot, and Apple's chips lately run fairly cool for what they are.
SSD though, having that not user replaceable is borderline criminal.
>>
>>110188402
Nigger, I can barely afford rent. Go to hell.
>>
>>110192858
Yeah MacOS has a tendency to rape SSDs
>>
>>110192898
Apart from the OS, so do most tasks that you want a high end workstation for.

you mean, closed-weights?
>>110192898
Honestly the real issue is no replaceable SSDs

all it took for apple's ram pricing to track the market was costs quintupling

Mini and studio do have the SDD on a daughterboard that can be replaced
