Apple MacBook Ultra has just been announced.
$2899 for base-level 14"
$3399 for base-level 16"

>>110187135
This was obviously dogshit - they pushed the good new MBpro refresh back a year. I bought an M5 macbook air last week while the trade-in prices for older stuff were still high.
>>
where's the fucking event coverage
>>
THE ILLUMINATED LOGO IS BACK
>>
>ProLED XDR
What kind of shitty name is this

Dogshit update
>>
>>110187307
The Apple log on the back glows again! lmao.
>>
>>110187135
>double-tap a window to fill the screen, or flick to tile it into place
oh fuck I'm gonna flick it
>>
No fucking changes beside the screen? When the M5 Max chip is thermal throttling in the 14" chassis and when the 96 W charge limit is no longer enough to actually power the laptop?
>>
>>110187343
They added the "dynamic island" which is literally the worst update to the iphone I can remember. I hate that feature and when I saw this would have that I immediately bought a different laptop.
>>
Apple keeps winning
>>
>>110187468
use case?
>>
>>110187135
not even m6
>>
its funny just a few days ago i saw apple fanboys saying touchscreens dont belong on laptops because nobody who does real work needs a touchscreen. looking forward to them shilling for this saying its the best thing ever now.
>>
They keep adding features people have been wanting but still hold back on others. Why is there no pencil support? Because that would cannibalise the iPad Pro sales. They keep making all of their products closer and closer to each other feature-wise but just different enough that you can't buy only one that does everything. If they really wanted to make a killer product they'd add pencil support and make the display rotate 360 degrees. Maybe in 5 years.
>>
>>110187135
Honestly, what's the point? A touchscreen on a laptop?
>>
>>110187924
Retarded decision. Nobody ever uses the touchscreen on a laptop because you have much superior input devices attached to the device.
>>
>>110187827
>looking forward to them shilling for this saying its the best thing ever now
Won't happen, look at MacRumors, look at Apple subreddits, everyone's saying touchscreen is a piece of shit useless gimmick
>>
>>110187924
>>110187940
Here’s the thing. They could’ve released this with Apple Pencil Support and 360 degrees hinges to make the touch feature actually matter. It now it’s just a touch screen with nothing else to offer.
>>
>>110187917
> Why is there no pencil support? Because that would cannibalise the iPad Pro sales.
That’s mega retard logic when the only ones that want to use a laptop like an iPad Pro are artists and the other tablet companies are quickly catching up to Apple’s portable tablet niche with 12 inch, 13 inch, and 14 inch tablets with stylus that don’t need to be charged.

> Maybe in 5 years
We don’t have 5 years. Everyone here is so blind with what is coming. If these bastards want to shot to shoot themselves in the foot by their own nonsense greed, I will reward them horrifically.

The dynamic island is fine on their phones only because it's used for FaceID. It seems like after a decade Apple still hasn't managed to slim the FaceID module down to fit in the laptop screen for some reason.
>>
>>110188252
That would dig into iPad sales it's never happening.
>>
>>110187135
I paid $1600 for m4 pro with 24gb ram

I'm buying a Windows laptop next time
>>

we know, stinkpad anon
>>
>>110188845
Not him, but I'd easily take a Zenbook Duo with a 358H over the touchscreen abomination Macbook since the Zenbook's touchscreen is actually useful.
>>
>>110187135
damn it's mid. i'll wait for the M7 series then
>>
>>110188510
The iPads are smaller than the Macs, and they even have IPad minis because people complained about how big the pros are.

There is zero cannibalism here besides for giving the artists in the ecosystem an actual super-portable medium sized tablet to work with.
>>
>>110187222
>>110188793
Looks like the proles got LED on by the industry again XD
The R stands for Repeat
>>
>>110189299
There is an iPad of almost every size and they all support Sidecar and the pencil.
>>
>>110188979
>358H
I hate that I can't find this thing in a nice normal 14" laptop outside of a crazy overpriced XPS. That's all I want.
>>
Xdr got PROLED
>>
>have light up logo
>don't have light up logo
>reintroduce light up logo
>omg so kewlll!!
jfc this world is retarded
>>
>>110189568
Not really. A main point about the IPad Pro is that it’s supposed to be an art tablet and Apple hasn’t made any 14 inch or 16 inch versions. They’re just a tid bit small to be a medium which is the main thing I was trying to find because grabbing a laptop and a tablet and the stupid wires is annoyingly stupid for a “portable” experience.
>>
>>110188510
the ipad is a poor product and the sales numbers are terrible.
just as jobs called touchscreen laptops "ergonomically terrible", he said that "if you don't cannibalize yourself, someone else will".

You can't release too much stuff all at once. They have a ten-year road map for what you're listing.

Too bad Asus ZenBooks have terrible build quality. The lid on mine no longer wants to close properly and I had to open it up and dissemble the fan to relube it because it started grinding, also my screen is slightly flexing due to the hinge issue, also my "S" key just popped out and broke for no reason forcing me to buy a replacement.

If I had not gotten it at almost 50% of I would have been pissed.
>>
>>110193229
>a literal laundry list of issues
yeah, i know what the actual problem is. seen this shit countless times through college and work.
>>
>>110194051
What's the problem? my laptop stays home 95% of the time. My old Alienwares and Macbook Pros didn't have these issues.

maybe I will pick up a miniled m6 before all they offer is oled.

unironically the best pc in the market
windows, amd, nvidia and intel (kek) are doing fuck all to give consumers a light in the tunnel of AI despair
apple just keeps releasing hardware and now it became a gamer's goldmine thanks to the ARM architecture and Switch parity, to the point that the first Switch recomps have released on MacOS lol
>>
>>110192824
That's not an iPad Pro, looks more like an Air which has an LCD screen.
