when will AI be small enough to be embeddable into video games to make them more personalized?
>>110186650You can already get decent 2M-6M parameter models, the problem is they run too slowly on most people's shitty hardware.
>>110186650I don't want personalized games. I want to play whatever some talented dudes thought was cool and I want to share that experience with my friends and with strangers around the worldnot just video games, of courseI want to master chess and play it with other people who are trying to master the same gameetc.
>>110186650Couple of years
I will use AI the moment it can make decent romhacks that aren't randomizers
>>110186650Im doing a game right now that uses an LLM for an Ace attorney style game, but you have to get criminals off the hook with convincing arguments that beat a pass/fail threshold
>>110186650you can do it with tiny models today. its even simpler to use modern ML to pregenerate many variations of voicelines/text and randomize those to give the game more 'prebaked' variability.the way machine learning in vidya is going to go IMO is the other way around. all 'regular' games will be free, since the users can decompile anything you let them download anyway.video game 'pricing' will be the pricing of the inference on the company's servers being done for you while running a game designed to generate assets on the fly by sending queries to the game company's servers.theyre already doing simplified versions of these with 'AI text adventure games' where you're playing in a unique game world each time. this kind of parallels the first text-based video games of the 1970s. we will see more andn more sophisticated versions of these initially adding just image generation of the text world and later on whole 3d enviroments, flatscreen game mechanics, VR game mechanics and so on. this is how we get to 'ready player one' or that sort of whole VR worlds. your PC is just going to be a local cache for the inference you rent from the video game company
itt anons yearn for the slop
Johnathan Blow new language Jai is like that except its not AI , it's self modifying

>>110186650You can do it right now, I assume you mean the creepy pasta, yeah, been having grok train a local learning model that fits in 5 gigs of vram and been training it nonstop on a derth of youtube creepy pasta mario personalized lore and what if videos and it is coming along nicely, been at it for a year + now, when I consider it ready I'll release it on github. It can change the game and build it out in segments as you progress and do fucked up shit, scan your drive (if you choose that mode) and learn about your life to fuck with you psychologically by profiling you and building its content based off you in a "fuck with me mode" it also has a "safe fucky mode" where you designate a folder and supply it with hand picked content to build from in addition to its own internal knowledgebase, the entire thing runs in a self contained sandbox for obvious reasons.
>>110186650Already is. There are already commercial tests and small mods that run highly specialized micro models on local hardware to make decisions locally. Look up PUBG Ally for one such commercial example. Mods, too, like the Mantella mod for Skyrim and Fallout 4.It needs to be a very specifically trained model. You can't just shove any old thing out there and expect it to work. But with targeted training on the specific framework of the game, it does actually begin to work. We'll probably start seeing this rolling out in real games, not just tech demos, in a year or two.
>>110186861There's one very niche, very silly usecase I think would be good: Voiced characters addressing you by name. Don't fully replace VAs with AI copies of their voice, just include both and splice in the AI when the player's name is brought up
>>110187398that's a cool idea I'm going to steal it and release it on steam first
>>110186650i just want a bunch of NPCs i can talk to via voice. That shit doesnt even need to run local.
>>110186861>>110187695this, plus it will 100% hallucinate given the ridiculously small context window and give out shit output anyway. jesus, I'm not against AI at all and it makes sense but I don't want to read slop as dialogues, I want to have a relatable experience
>>110191128Go ahead
>>110191128Ill pirate it
>>110186692>decent 2M-6MMay I see it?
>>110186650Probably in near future if we figure out the ram shortage. People are already working in fairly smart 1 bit quantized models that can run on average hardware. It will probably still take some time for the hardware and software progress to meet to enable this for actual games.
>>110186861>I want to play with some dudes cock That's what you sound like
>>110191636I've seen people express the same idea about AI porn and it's the gayest shit ever>I don't want AI slop I need some dude to jerk me off through his art
Few months
>>110186861>I want to play whatever some talented dudes thought was coolyou are are such an impossibly embarrassing faggot holy shit how have you not killed yourself out of shame
