What's the verdict on flatpark?https://flatpark.org/
I like it. It's convenient to install applications on my computer and it's convenient for developers to ship their applications without depending on the distribution maintainers
I'm installing the whole Artcraft and epic from there

>>110186197Flatpaks are great and you should use them for most apps you would download.
>>110186197Crazy how there isn't even a single good Flatpak repository that isn't Flathub. What's the point of the decentralization if it's highly centralized in practice?
>>110186808>decentralizationthe point of Flatpak is not decentralization? I've used several apps that had their own repository if that's something you care about. I do think there is a market right now for a well-curated repository especially with the imminent flood of slop.
>>110186808Why dont App developers host their own repo? That's what they often do for F-Droid
>>110186822>the point of Flatpak is not decentralization?Well no, but it's one of its features and particularly back in the day when Snap vs Flatpak vs AppImage was actually a real dilemma, the common complaint was that Snap is tied to one server that is run by Ubuntu, while Flatpak is decentralized
I use it on ubuntu and I like it better than snaps.
>>110186834It costs monet, dinnit?
>>110188774No, you can just host it for free on GitHub Pages and have GitHub Actions automatically build everything when you tag a new release

>>110186197I don't trust it yet, but theoretically the whole point of flatpaks is that even if you don't trust something you can revoke all of its permissions to make it mostly harmless so it should be fine.
I fucking hate it. I'm sick of dealing with additional package managers.
