The pirates do a pretty good job of keeping everyone clear from using their botted up versions of windows filled with russian hacking botnets.
>>
>>110184977
why doesn't microsoft take action against the crackers and distribution??
>>
>>110184977
people using windows are less likely to switch to macs or leenox
plus ms makes almost no money with retail/enduser sales of win licenses anyway
>>
>>110185039
I paid 10 dollars for my windows license off a keys site.
>>
>>110184977
There is no real reason to. They make far more money on office, azure, and pushing ads. They'd give windows away for free if it didn't upset the investors. W10 was supposed to be the last version but the investors were up set that number didn't go up so number had to go up.
>>
It makes them more money in the long run, the biggest advantage of Windows is that it's the "default" option.
You as an individual may pirate it, but your government pays for it, and Microsoft has pressured your government to fine companies that don't pay for it, this happens even in the third world.
>>
>>110184977
Don't listen to this brainlet >>110185033 who doesn't understand the market share and how it affects the value of a company. Secondly, ever since win10+ M$ now gets to sell your data too. Win/win.
>>
>>110184977
Because it makes them more money via other invests that windows exists massively.
>>
>>110184977
because they are selling their data too. and windows is also a glowie approved OS that mainlines straight into the Pentagon.
I'm honesty surprised Windows is entirely free now, just for the surveillance benefits
>>
>>110184977
Why would they? This ensures they have a stranglehold on the market.
>>
>>110184977
Because boxed retail software days are over and OS is a gate for subscription based platforms rather than the main thing. Use troonix/gahnoo whatever like a year and you'll notice that nothing valuable works on it
>>
>>110185905
use case for proprietary software in the year of ASI?
>>
>>110184977
Free marketing and more useful idiots in their ecosystem making all other software worse.
Piracy has no negative effects unless you are so bad at selling things that piracy is the path of least resistance, and I'm not even talking about money.
Even before software copyright and in spite Bill Gates penning the open letter to hobbyists, Microsoft was seeing more benefit than harm from people ripping off their software.
>>110185035
Why would they? Microshart has only ever complained about piracy and copyright when it helped to push through regulations that would hamper their actual competitors.
>>
>>110184977
Microsoft should rather take action against the enshitification.

If they don't care, why don't they open source Windows already so we can have an updated 7 and let shitty 10/11 die?

>>110186476
just vibeslop the windows of your dreams bro
>>
>>110184977
Because Marketshare + Data Collection is better & more worth than $80 bucks.
>>
>>110186476
They want you to be on windows, that doesn't mean the want windows to be good. It's not like linux or anything else will ever actually be real competition against them anyway.

Because the more you use their OS, the more money flows their way. Even if you don't pay to use their OS, the developers of your software do, or they pay licenses for shit like Visual Studio or to use shit like OneDrive. Companies also pay a lot for E5 and E7 licenses, which cost a fortune and keep corps locked in to shit like Sharepoint, Azure, Copilot, and shit.
>>
>>110186476
Don't fucking mass quote, you retarded shit.
>>
>>110184977
Why would they? What's the positive outcome they could expect from doing something like that? Pushing more people to Mac and some to Linux? They've already been bleeding users incredibly heavily for like 10-15 years now, mostly to Apple. They would rather have the user base, even if some users are pirates.
>>
>>110184977
It's more profitable to keep them tied to the Windows ecosystem than to drive them out by preventing unlicensed use.
>>
>>110186988
>Don't fucking mass quote, you retarded shit.

if anon mass quoted he would have repasted everything those other posts said. you are an idiot. also its not against the rules to reply to multiple posts you fucking newfag

Instead of mass replying, read the post. Investors would not allow for macroslop to release a product for free, especially one they traditionally charged for.
>>
fuck microsoft. only time I purchased windows was back in the day I paid for the windows 95 upgrade CD for my old windows 3.1. thats the first and last time I ever paid for a MS product!

it is so funny someone made this image lol

It's a psyop. They want goyim to get used to using Windows and when they grow up they will always have to use Windows. Microsoft doesn't care about goyim, the corporates pay billions for their Windows licenses because the young goyim grew up using Windows.

>Why doesn't Microsoft take action on the millions of pirated copies of Windows?

They don't make their money selling software, they make their money harvesting user data.

With that business model, a pirated copy is earning them as much money as a "legal" one.
>>
>>110184977
The user isn't the customer anymore.
>>
> Although about 3 million computers get sold every year in China, people don't pay for the software. Someday they will, though. And as long as they're going to steal it, we want them to steal ours. They'll get sort of addicted, and then we'll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade.

Bill Gates, 1998
>>
>>110192736
Nigga went full batshit with CopilotOS dataharvesting trying to mimmick google.. badly. While still charging a installation fee for manufacturers that gets passed on to the goym.

Greedy fucking misathrope.

>>
>>110184977
There's no money in going after consumers.

They get much more money out of suing businesses, educational institutes and governments running illegal copies.

On top of that, the modern versions of windows are all about data collection. They earn money off spying on you. The licensing cost is just a formality at this point. And if you go on to buy cloud services, they've really hit the jackpot by letting you use windows for free.
>>
>pirate
People still do this? I just pay cents on the dollar for an illegal resell of a legitimate OEM key. No fuss, just works, only need it to be alive briefly and don’t care if I can’t reuse it in 5 years.
>>

Just use mass grave even Microsoft employees admit to using it
>>
>>110195425
This. I recently activated my enterprise system using HWID and it works flawlessly. I previously used an OEM key which also worked until I reinstalled Windows from the image file so from that point on I chose to opt for massgrave as I'm not paying for another OEM key.

Besides I thought OEM keys were supposed to stay active even after reinstalling the operating system from the bootable image image.

After a few months or so it kept saying my system was not up to date even after installing the latest updates including the Security Intelligence Updates which I still received on a daily basis. It still allowed me to update the system but for some reason to kept saying "You're not up to date" even when it was. Briefly it went back to normal over a week ago but only for less than a day. Perhaps Microsoft flagged the key after I installed the 22H2 payload and enablement package. Who knows.
>>
>>110184977
Because (You) are the product.
>>
They'd rather have you in their ecosystem. If you run windows it's more likely you'll get skills to administrate server is that runs windows or use cloud office software.
>>
>>110184977
Do you know what a "software audit" is? There's no point going after private citizens who are fucking broke when those resources can be given to the (((auditors))) instead.
>>
>>110184977
Cause it still means people on windows used to windows who will get work and demand their company has windows that was the whole point of the mass market share strat they ran
>>
>>110184977
Because if they did nobody would be on Windows except people who just recently bought a computer with Windows on it. This keeps Windows as the "default" even for machines with no OS.
>>
>>110184977
Because they'd rather have people pirate it than use something else.
>>
People who pirate are cheapskates and might switch to Linux if they couldn’t pirate. Keeping that 95% desktop marketshare is all that matters to M$
