They're only doing this with public messages in public servers, no? This sounds like a good thing to me, I've been in various Discords for things like open-source projects and their tech support channels are constantly, constantly filled with the same kinds of questions over and over and over, because there's no proper searchability or discoverability on previous Discord messages. Back in the day such projects might've had a forum which was properly searchable both from within and from search engines, I think it's good if public messages in Discord become searchable too. A lot of information should be much easier to find without going in some godforsaken server and once again asking the same questions yourself.

Public servers, which opted in to being discoverable, and within that server, it only applies to public channels (the ones that require no role to access it).
Most servers ask for a bot verification or something and hide channels based on roles, so it doesn't apply to any of these.
On top of that, a channel where this actually applies to, would mark in the header that it makes it public.
And on top of all of that, what you say will not have your name attached to the public version.

I hate this platform and I despise it with every fiber of my being when some installation instructions can only be accessed by joining a Discord server nobody cares about (looking at you RiiConnect24, but at least it's no longer the case now).
