Give me one reason for why you are not using Debian GNU/Linux right now.

Thinking of trying devuan
>>110176465it's just a github fork of fedora these days

>>110176465Been meaning to, but Mint just works, so I cba to switch.
>>110176465but i have always used debian. twenty something years ago i remember trying debian, red hat, and slackware. i settled on debian probably because it was the first distro i figured out apt with and that made everything easy.
macOS on my Dell laptop has better battery life than Linux
>>110176860What you can do with it though? Just put it idling and watch the battery drain?
The creators of my series of laptops actively supports arch. The latest debian release broke my keyboard, can't even unencrypted the drive without plugging in a USB keyboard to the laptop. If shit's going to break I'd rather use the distro with active support and the latest releases. Also niri + noctalia is so cozy
>>110176465because i've already moved on to gentoo linux
>>110176465but i am using it?
>>110176465Stop posting this transsexual, he doesn't even look feminine
Because I'm using Nix.

>>110177437Dayum, you'd shit in her mouth?
>>110176465I've seen her penis!
I have to use mac at work for JAMF but otherwise I use it yeah
>>110176552debian is far more minimal and has a world of difference in its package management and repository structure. this is just nonsense
>>110176877everything, it's my daily driverit has obviously more software than Linux
>>110176465That desk is right up against a radiator in front of a window so you just know it's top cozy in the winter. I use Xubuntu LTS now because Debian had a lot of little hiccups that annoyed me. I don't like having to fidget with my OS when I have something I'm trying to get done. Xubuntu just works. Although I probably should have gone with Mint Xfce but it's not worth the time to reinstall.
>>110176465because its a pain in the ass to get things working, i dont wanna spend hours to get shit working just to avoid telemetry that i can already easly do on windows 11.
>>110179079it took me less than 2 minutes to touch up your dogshit picture. how lazy has /g/ become?
>>110176465Because I like my software up-to-date

>>110176878>niri + noctaliai googled it. their website has a gallery on their front page and every single screenshot is some riced desktop with a tranime wallpaper. maybe if you got a job you wouldn't have the time to sit around jerking off to ever weirder porn until you can't differentiate between the pharisaical brainrot on your screen and your own identity causing you to troon out, have a series of embarrassing public melties, and then kill yourself.
>>110179383tttthanks....?
Because I'm using Ubuntu. It just werks.
Because they STILL won't include qemu-guest-agent in their Cloud images.
>>110179648You know they provide a more up-to-date branch (Debian Testing) that you can use instead of the mainline version (Debian Stable), right?>>110176541I spent some time living in a Devuan build before. It was comfy. It's basically Debian; but with either SysVinit, OpenRC or Runit. Your choice of init will obviously change how you manage services on your system, but other than that, it feels almost exactly like Debian.I would actually rate Devuan above Debian, simply because it gives you the freedom to choose your init software. I recommend at least giving it a shot and seeing what you think. You can always go back to normal Debian later if you don't like it.

>>110176556thats for the weak minded, lfs or nothing
>>110176465Two reasons. One specific, one more general.Specific: There is a specific program that is only available as a binary. It runs fine on every distro I've tried it on except for Debian.General: install Debian and then type "which which." Go down the rabbit hole to find where the executable actually is located. Spoiler: Debian is a series of kludges of and workarounds that would make Rube Goldberg envious. Why aren't you using Slackware or Void?
>>110176849Same actually. I maintain my moms Mint desktop and my brother does her Fedora? Laptop. Personally I want something that runs XFCE and It may as well be Xubuntu. But I think Mint is the more based version of Ubuntu by disabling Canonical snaps. My gaming PC gets CachyOS but that's a single-purpose OS for maximum frames. And I like that it just hands you options on a silver platter like the thing with keeping your Firefox profile in RAM.I loved Debian and the OS on my first PC was Debian Sarge when I was about 13. I was really proud when I installed java runtime and could play Runescape but had to manually kill the sound server and start esd or alsa I don't remember.Anyway so... I think I don't run Debian for no good reason whatsoever. I think I am bored though and I told myself I would be a much cooler hacker if I set out to use other distros.I tried KaOS and it's cool but I don't have a multi-monitor setup. I don't have anything productive I do with any PC really, so I have a hard time judging what I'm doing and what if anything is effective and ergonomic or whatever. Mint is comfy and lets me forget about the OS I'm using. In pursuit of an interesting OS I'm going to install eweOS and decide it will be my OS I use for everything except gaming.Distro's I miss: the original Mandriva. So gorgeous and comfy. Ubuntu 6.06 with the brown theme.
>>110176878Niri with Noctalia is cosy
>>110179757It's a ROG. Asus supports it through their gaming on linux initiative.
>>110180491>You know they provide a more up-to-date branch (Debian Testing) that you can use instead of the mainline version (Debian Stable), rightNo I didn’t, but it’s still two 1-2 months behind rolling release distros. KDE is still on 6.7.4 and Firefox for Debian testing is still on 153.5 I’ll stick to Tumbleweed/Gentoo, thank you very much
>>110179864First of all, lol.I riced my desktop in my spare time because having a waybar with solid color rectangles instead of icons was not aesthetic. Niri is convenient and easy to use/configure once you learn how to use it. Better than a floating window manager where you have to click and drag windows into place, click an icon to expand, shrink or hide. With niri, everything just falls into place. It's simple and elegant. Noctalia makes it look pretty: changes themes to wallpaper colors, even makes it easy to have audio display every time you play audio. Makes your desktop look like an old stereo.Maybe you need some time away from the computer, buddy. I'm being genuine, as that's not a healthy response to someone liking a window manager with a shell.
>>110182020>Firefox for Debian testing is still on 153.5Why are you niggas so retarded?>the firefox in stable/testing is ESR 153.5.1>the firefox in the sid repo is 158.0.1>the newer versions of both weren't released until earlier todayyou can also just use the firefox repos since everybody supports debian
>>110176465Because Arch is better
>>110182601What the fuck are you on about? Your image says it’s one week behind as well, and apologies that I didn’t know that I was supposed to use the unstable debian instead of the supposed up-to-date testing debian??

>>110182710>>110182710My bad, looked at the site when 153.5 was still the one listed. Regardless, my point still stands, KDE progress on debian testing still lags behind around a whole month
>>110182754>a month behind for a well-tested stable distro vs shit breaking every 6 monthsseems like a fair trade. other than security patches (which get ported in for debian), the only use case for having software updated that rapidly is autism
