Android is the dominant global OS for mobile phones and because that many OEM's use the firmware, competition breeds technical innovation and reduces RRP. Apple used to sell mid range specs for premium prices because their OS was highly optimised. Competition from Android has pushed Apple to compete and surpass other OEM's in some key areas, e.g. powerful SOC's.

I was part of the OxygenOS beta testing up until OOS12 when they suddenly reassigned the engineering team and merged it with ColorOS. The firmware was a mess and I moved on to other things. Now that OnePlus has retreated from the global market, I'd avoid Oppo; impressive tech but their software is bloated and they lock their bootloaders. I'm waiting to order a Motorola Signature 27.

Android is never beating these allegations.

Do you guys have RealMe in America? Here in Russia it's pretty popular. I just boughted RealMe for myself and my family and it's excellent. Devices ranging from $200 to $350, all run smoothly. Tested C85, 15 5G, P4 Power - all are fantastic and fast. P4 Power is especially cool, with 10,000maph battery.
>>
>>110138320
Very nice Russia anon, they are the third most popular smartphone brand in India as well. I see the direct correlation between the two countries and why they would choose to buy such low cost budget friendly devices.
>>
>>110138334
I don't really understand why would anyone call RealMe P4 a budget device. It's literally top, except for the price. With 12Gb RAM it runs flawlessly. Why would anyone pay more these days? What would you even do on a more expensive decide that would demonstrate it being better? I mean I once boughted Samsung S20 back in 2020 and it was worth it, I suppose, because at the time, other androids weren't as smooth. But these days?
>>
>>110138364
A $350 smartphone is not a flagship and it is a budget device. No one’s trying to be rude. We only post facts here.
>>
>>110138378
I mean sure, maybe. What I'm trying to say, can you explain to me why would it "feel" budget in everyday use? Because it sure doesn't feel budget to me, it feels great. Even the cheaper RealMe 15 5G is excellent and it's like $250. It sounds to me like price is the only indicator. I just don't understand what would I even get from a $800 Samsung.
>>
>>110138403
It’s the year 2026, and you want a random stranger on a website to explain the difference between a budget and flagship smartphone. There are so many reputable places for you to get this information and it’s pretty much common sense too. It’s cool that you like what you bought, but trying to relate it to top-of-the-line flagships is a little ludicrous.
>>
>>110138430
I don't think my question is unreasonable. Have you tried actually using any of those so called budget phones? I literally cannot understand what could you improve in the experience. I the same OS and it runs just fine on them. So what's the catch?
>>
>>110138448
Sorry, dude I only buy flagships. I would never and could never see myself buying budget phones and publicly walking around with them too, but it’s cool that you don’t mind. I respect you for that but you’re not gonna trick me into thinking it’s the same thing quality, wise and hardware and spec wise lol just cut it out already. If you like it, that’s all that matters at the end of the day. I’m glad that you were happy.
>>
>>110138463
Lol, who cares what phone are you walking with, the even look the same these days. Only faggits the the most golddiggest out of golddigging whores would care about your phones. Like I said, a flagship mattered in 2020 (snd even that's stretching it), but these days the look the same, work the same and I am yet to see proof that flagships are better at anything.
>>
>>110138501
You’re just making things up to feel better about your very low budget smartphone with extremely mediocre hardware and it’s nowhere near on the same level as a flagship and you’re not convincing anybody here that it is. This is a technology enthusiast board not a budget phone buying board. If you’re having trouble figuring out the differences, why don’t you just do some research pick any flagship and compare it to the SOC in your smartphone, do the same thing with the cameras and end of discussion.
>>
>>110138526
> You’re just making things up to feel better about your very low budget smartphone

FYI, I can definitely afford a flagship, but I just don't see the difference. I don't care about specs - what difference do specs make if it runs the same? If you can't answer that with specific examples you're just coping with the fact that you spent extra money to feel privileged, but actually you're not. I tested both flagships and these phones, you only tested flagships, so how would you know?
>>
what's the point of these threads since its just one faggot spamming the same posts?
>>
>>110138637
What’s the point with all your complaining? Is it because you don’t have a brand new flagship to show off here and you’re really salty?

I have used Samsung/Android all my life because I've always valued having more control over my phone. But now as I get older I feel like I'm doing less and less with that "control". The only non conventional things I do with my phone nowadays are install modded/open source APKs like Revanced, Chance for 4chan, and ytdlnis. My current Samsung flagship is 5 years old now and I wanted to update to the latest one but the amount of AI Samsung has been pushing really turns me off. I really do not want any sort of generative AI in my camera or photos.
What are some other things I'll lose out on if I swap to iPhone? I know there are alternatives for Revanced/Chance and I can ssh into my own server for ytdlnis if needed.

Everything you need to get an ad-free YouTube Music experience on iOS without paying for a subscription, you can sideload custom modified IPA files like YTLitePlus or YouTubeiVanced using tools like Sideloadly, AltStore, or SideStore. With Google locking down, it's crazy to think in 2027 iOS will be able to install files without a pc and android will need a 24 hour wait than a pc adb file load. No waiting time is needed to use ipa files and sideloaded apps on iOS.

Your welcome anon. I'm tinkering trying to get SailfishOS running on a Note 10+. It'll install APK's on a compatibility layer so I'm genuinely intrigued. The Nexphone is a little bit too underpowered but I'd love to see a Snapdragon Elite X2 with the same concept. I'd seen someone was running MacOS on an Asus laptop with the same SOC, a Snapintosh. Imagine a device in a mobile form factor that you could plug in an OTG cable and run on a monitor as a desktop. Class.

Went to the Apple Store this morning on the off chance I could get a duo on walk-in. Unfortunately they had already all been reserved but I did get to go into the store and handle a display model. My thoughts are that at least initially the crease is invisible, I literally could. It seems it. Obviously I know this will change with use. Secondly, the phone feels more well built than the Samsung folds by far. It does not feel like a first gen product at all when it’s in your hand. A lot has been said about its weight. Personally I didn’t think it felt heavy compared to my iPhone 16 pro max. I think you would really need to hold another foldable in your hand at the same time to notice the difference. The inside matte screen looks really really good. I didn’t perceive any degradation in sharpness or color output because of it and it was VERY anti glare. I mean no glare at all. When folded form factor felt fine in my hand and I did a little typing on the front screen and actually preferred it to my current iPhone. That bit of extra width made the keyboard bigger. It kind of felt like I was typing on a touchscreen blackberry.

Overall I think it’s already way ahead of the Samsung folds in many many ways.

I tried it out in a store today as well. It feels really premium and high quality. Also tried a Z Fold 8 right after and it felt like cheap plastic in comparison.
The screen is genuinely breathtaking. I was worried you'd be able to feel the matte display, but it feels like regular glass on the fingers.
Kinda sad my order got pushed to mid-late November now because I'm really convinced.

I was also surprised by the lack of texture on the inside display. It really didn’t feel all that different from the front glass to my finger tips. I also couldn’t feel anything below the folding screen. It just felt perfectly flat and smooth. Mine is supposed to come in mid to late November as well but oh well. One of the store employees told me they will probably getting more phones in in the coming days but they won’t know exactly when so it may still be possible to get one this week if you’re persistent and enough.

Really?! I thought the matte finish was built into the screen itself and not just the screen protector. And it looks like they've bought a cheap screen protector off Amazon.

If you go looking for it, yes you will see it. Once you start using any foldable the crease will more or less disappear because you'll be too absorbed in whatever you're doing to notice it. I thought punch hole cameras would annoy the shit out of me, then I ended up getting a phone with one and it turns out your brain ignores it like how your brain ignores the bridge of your nose between your eyes.
>>

I need to get a new smartphone soon because my GPS on my oneplus nord n20 keeps dropping out at the worst possible times and it's probably time, my banking apps will drop support for Android 12 in the next year or 2 probably.

Should i get the moto g stylus (2026)?
If only because it still has a headphone jack and expandable storage and an active (not capacitive) stylus and every other 256gb/8gb phone at $500 doesn't have expandable storage and I feel like my window is closing to still be able to buy a mid-ranger with expandable storage before they inevitably get rid of it next year with the 2027 model.
I know you can also get a oneplus 12R and a Pixel 10a at this price range but the expandable storage thing is kinda non-negotiable to me, I save fucktons of images and never delete anything and need 1TB storage with me.

You really don't have a clue what you're talking about, do you. Consumer electronics break. Just because a random phone is pulled off the production line and passes all the barrier tests doesn't mean you won't have multiple FIF from that production run.

Has there been any incidents involving silicon carbon batteries, or a series of phones using said batteries that had to be retired, recalled or whatever because they failed?
>>
Recommend me a phone please guys.

I have been using an A52 for the past 5 years or so. It's just a youtube machine for when I'm bored at work or driving. But my job makes me travel sometimes and carrying my personal laptop in addition to my work laptop sucks. And getting my personal gaming laptop out on a plane is a pain in the ass due to space. I bought Viture Beast glasses so that I could watch tv or movies on my phone without getting my laptop out but it doesn't support video over USB-C. So now I need a new phone. And if I'm going to buy a new phone I might as well buy a nice one that can play games so that I can just leave the laptop at home.

A coworker has a set up where he plugs his phone into a hub, connects a portable display and connects an xbox controller. Then uses DEX or something to connect to his home pc, so he's playing first-person shooters off of his home PC at the office. It seems kind of convoluted but if it means I can put on my Beast glasses and use a wireless keyboard and mouse, with my phone still in my pocket, and game off of my PC hundreds of miles away then I'd be all about that. Or if I'm in a hotel and I can access my home PC with my glasses for a monitor and keyboard and mouse or controller for inputs that would save having to carry my expensive laptop with me on flights and risk it getting damaged.

Any advice? I don't really know where to begin getting this set up. But I know I'll need a new phone.

Samsungs own forum is FULL of complaints about its foldables lagging and the screens bending into the device at the corners. It’s also full of people complaining that their Samsung smartphones caught fire or exploded. Meanwhile here you have anons defending a company that can NOT STOP its devices from blowing up and causing third degree burns to people.
>>
>>110149599
Also theirs MANY complaints about Samsung smartphones getting green lines from software updates which causes overheating and the device melts from the inside. Truly remarkable engineering placing ribbon connectors next to the SOC.

>searches across reddit....
Stop reading there.

>>110149725
Way to try and discredit the post. It also did searches across local news outlets, YouTube and Samsungs Official forum and it was not only from Reddit.
>>
>>110149747
You have been told many times in this general that social media posts are not valid sources. Not my pig, not my farm; I'm not trying to discredit anything and you seem to be heavily invested. Suffice to say your sources are shit and anything referenced wouldn't stand up in a court of law.
>>
>>110149773
You made that all up. Samsungs Official forum is very credible and so are local news outlets. Samsungs forum is heavily moderated by Samsung and they don't allow anything fake to be posted. Your opinions are not facts.

What have I made up? I could go onto any social media site now, post an untruth and none of what I claim would be fact checked.
>your opinions are not facts
Exactly. Social media is user posted opinion, not fact and thank you for the concession.
>>
>>110149814
If you make a fraudulent post on Samsungs official website it gets removed and repeat offenders have accounts removed. Local news outlets can be held accountable for making false claims via defamation lawsuits. You made everything up and are failing at discrediting this post >>110149705 and you are not fooling anyone.

Based DameTech video, the s26 ultra kept crashing without a cooler. The A19 Pro achieved higher frame rates as well.
Example of a s26 ultra thermal throttle crashing in under 15 minutes. See: >>110133611

So why can't Samsung figure out how to properly design future smartphones that don't overheat and explode? Even brands that don't sell globally are not having issues with Qualcomms latest Snapdragon flagship SOC.

>>
>>110149960
Yeah, you can still buy HTC phones but they're low to midrange models. HTC aren't the market leader they used to be. The HD2 was an anachronism; I can't remember the exact specs but it had a Qualcomm SOC and about 500mg of system memory but you could install pretty much any mobile OS on it, Windows, Android, Ubuntu, Sailfish, it was a fucking beast of a phone.

Samsung initially avoided Si/C because first gen Si/C batteries were more prone to degradation than current gen Si/C batteries and needed about 10% of their capacity artificially capped to serve as a sort of buffer zone to prevent accelerated degradation. Current generation Si/C batteries are less prone to degradation and have less of their capacities artificially capped, so I'm guessing this pushed Samsung to finally use it. Samsung started using Si/C with Fold8 series and methinks they'll adopt it for S27 series to reach or exceed Apple's current battery capacity on 18 Pro series.
