I know it's memed a lot, but I am in a weekly binge/starve cycle. I feel disgusting every time I eat, and I feel uncontrollably hungry every time I don't. I can't seem to consistently lose weight because of this either.
Sorry for animu pic, chose a random in my downloads

intermittent fasting was good for me.
first few nights had to drink calorie free soda or tisane herbal tea to put off hunger, but once i got used to it, its only white knuckling the hour before lunch.
but once you're in it, its not a big deal
intermittent fasting does not automatically lower your calories, but shrinking the window, eating what you naturally do majority of fatties lose weight with minimal thought

Not OP but I do quasi IF most days. I only really eat protein outside of my one proper meal a day. Like cottage cheese or yogurt in the morning, a protein shake in place of lunch, no blood sugar issues, no hunger or overeating issues.

If you're trying to lift weights or exercise on IF it gets really disgusting trying to cram an entire days protein into an afternoon.

Something is compelling you to use food as a cope mechanism and/or avoidance strategy. Figure out what it is(you probably know already) and address it. Unless you do it, the cycle of shame-behavior-punishment will keep repeating itself or taking different forms like jumping between addictions. If you're addicted to food, you're probably addicted to something else too, and deep down you just want to distract yourself from yourself.

Can you maintain literally any form of anything no matter how small just to prove to yourself that you can in fact exercise the self discipline necessary to enact change over time?

For example: you're in a binge-purge/fast cycle, thats probably your default, you've probably lost no weight but keep thinking somethings gonna change with THIS next purge cycle. Can you just, eat a set amount every day, without the purging or binging? And i dont meant to restrict anything, food wise or calorie wise, you can eat two full pizzas and 10 cups of ice cream every day, doesnt matter, but are you capable of tell yourself "I will eat exactly two pizza and 10 cups of ice cream and not a single thing more or less nor a single item different" and can you just stick to that one promise you made yourself for even a week?

If you can do that for one week, you've proven you can make a plan and stick to it REGARDLESS of the up and down of your emotions, and from there you make SMALL changes that you can maintain. For this example, in week two, you'll have two full pizzas but only 9 cups of ice cream every day. You get what I'm saying?

I've genuinely fixed BED in myself by doing this. I took way too long to finally stick to it cuz id ride a wave of motivation and say "lol fuck that im gonna go cold turkey and fast for a week" and then binge and repeat the same cycle for YEARS. If you cant find the discipline to do the small stuff, you'll NEVER find the discipline to do the hard stuff, no matter how much your delulu brain tries to convince you otherwise (with no evidence lmao)

Sound advice/insight. I've had problems with BED and at least for me - I've found it's majorly tied to my mental state at the time. When I'm in good stretches, it's usually because I have good habits (exercising, eating satisfying whole foods and staying hydrated) coupled with a better state of mind. Like one of the anons - I've kicked it (or am just in a really good stretch currently) by just being honest with yourself and trying to look at the whole picture and set goals/boundaries when it comes to food (like any good relationship). If you find yourself compelled to gourge it's usually not tied to extreme hunger, it's tied to something else mentally (emptyness, sadness - whatever grey, unpleasant emotion) and you're trying to distance yourself from that emotion by giving yourself the dopamine response that you get from food. But like any drug, it only works for so long and you can (literally) destroy yourself chasing it. Just like any addict - be honest, be forgiving but most importantly be accountable for your actions. My advice - try to stay busy, try to stay active and take steps to get yourself into a more positive/clear/transparent state of mind. Good luck my friend >>77587810

Post body. i want to see how fat you are. Likely you are starving because you managed to wait an extra hour for lunch and binging because you consider it a treat for fucking around in a gym for 10 minutes

Eat a lot of fiber
Supplement it with each meal
Slow your meal consumption. Seriously give yourself a few minutes between sides. Your gut hormones need time to circulate and reach the brain to tell you you’re full. Fiber will elongate the sensation of fullness. If your blood pressure feels low make an electrolyte beverage: lemon apple cider vinegar and salt.

OP here, thank you all for the responses. I haven't gotten the chance to get back to all of them until now.

I will try this, I'm unsure if it will stop the binging that occurs during eating windows.
>>77587831
I am genuinely unsure of what it'd be other than just being a little sad/depressed. I have no real issues or traumatic events.
>>77587847
I genuinely, wholeheartedly believe I cannot do this. I cannot stick to anything, no matter how much I try.

I eat about 800 calories a day for a week or two, then binge for a week afterwards. I do not go to the gym or exercise. I am definitely quite fat though.

Sorry to waste everyone's time, I appreciate the responses.

I counted calories and just observed at which calorie count or protein count I felt full. So that established an expectation in my head that I "should" feel full at X calories and any more was me emotionally eating or being gluttonous. And then if I eat a little under that then it's a bonus, but if I eat a little over it's no big deal. And of course I figure out the baseline while eating whole healthy foods and not on fries, I can eat an infinite amount of fries lol. And then from there I just cut however much I'm comfortable with.

You just contradicted yourself, you said you cant maintain anything and then say you can maintain 800 calories a day for two weeks before binging for a week. Can you maintain 800 calories a day for two weeks + one more day? No? Two weeks + 23 more hours? Plus 22 hours? Anything is better than nothing, if you can maintain 800 cals a day for 14 days, I KNOW you can eventually build up to 15 days, then 16 days, etc
