This true?
Suit larpers are some of the most cringe people alive Suits are completely dead and are never coming back
just thrift a suit and use the budget on tailoring. you can find decent suits with tags on them for $24.99
>>18786038i make 10K a month as my regular salary and I wouldnt be caught dead in a hugo boss suit, and canali is kinda cringe (the sports anchors in canada wear that shit) I do have a brioni silk suit, I got it from the thrift store for $40
>>18786046idk I like sex so I wear suits, ymmv
>>18786038>caring about the brand and not the silhouette, fabric, and pattern might as well just pick a different hobby
>>18786366>playing dress up in suits is a "hobby"yikes
>>18786038Guy OP posted is pretty cringe. Imagine even making a video like that and expecting people to take you seriously.Any suit costing over $2000 USD you are just paying for the brand name unless you are going Bespoke.
>>18786046>sheit dems suits is whack muhfugga
>>18786700the first 3 brands he listed are all fused/glued suits made in china (in the same factory) and the last 5 he listed are all machine made canvassed suits made in italy (in identical factories). there are only 2 actual categories he listed in that video.
>>18786038This guy looks like he begs all his relatives for money. All of them.
>>18786038>$50k - $100k monthly>buying prêt-à-porter slop from [brand] instead of going to an actual tailor on savile row or in hong kongLMAO. Guy can't even larp correctly, nevermind what he actually wears himself.
>>18786715Kek, I have seen Canali and Corneliani suits here in department stores and they are hardly out of reach for a guy like me that "only" makes $80k a year.
>>18786046I make $195k TC at 25 and almost exclusively wear a polo or casual button down with chinos or shortsI have black and blue two-pieces from Men's Wearhouse and State & Liberty with the waist taken in on the rare occasions when I have to wear a suit to a formal event or meeting with a client's c suiteOf all the execs that I've met, 90 percent give less than half a shit about fashion/suits, 10 percent just have 1-2 custom suits (and only because OTR suits fit their physique poorly), and only 1 guy had an actual collection
>>18787349shut the fuck up no one gives a shit about your job
>>18787354clearly you do lmaogo waste your money on another suit if you're so mad
>>18787413>"please keep talking about my made up salary!"No.
>buy used suits on the cheap[ from brands people masturbate over like zega, canali, brioni woteva>pay to get them tailored>larp as old money with good taste despite being an airheaded fashionista>proiit??
>>18787418buying a fancy suit doesn't get you "in" with wealthy peoplebeing connected to wealthy people gets you fancy suitsbeing connected to wealthy people also makes you realize that they don't care about suits either unless they're europoors who aren't actually rich
>>18787443>being connected to wealthy people also makes you realize that they don't care about suitsThis reminds me of the story about some guy meeting a potential business partner and he whipped out an old Ferrari he had thinking it would impress him. The rich guy saw through it and told him something to the likes of "this doesn't impress me, I can buy one of these on a whim, you can impress me by showing me what you can do." You'll never impress the wealthy by having the same stuff as they do, because to them it's just basic stuff. Show them you're not a basic person.
>>18786038Anything over $500 should be bespoke by a tailor, with the quality of the tailor increasing with price, under $500 should just go to a thrift store in a nice area and find a bespoke suit close to your size and get it tailored. You should never buy a branded suit
>>18786038Well of course. Don't tell me you don't buy a new suit every month? Good God man, just how poor are you?
>>18787448I'd say if it fits you perfectly off the rack and the tailoring is good then it'd probably be worth spending up to $700. Otherwise I probably wouldn't even spend over $300
>>18787418>buy used suits sure, you can also wait for sales, and spend time looking at discount sites, but you're exchanging your time for the discount. this matters more the older you get >>18787448bespoke in europe costs way more and is mostly a meme. literally no one has a bespoke suit except industrialists and aristocrats who buy 5-10 suits a year just as a matter of habit. you can't walk into one of those places and order one suit, if you do, you may never actually receive it, there are stories of this happening. there's also the bloggers/influencers who get suits made (for free or discount) for marketing purposes, so that the tailor can start making lower quality ready to wear for the plebeians to buy and cash in on their name.
If you're spending real money on a suit you'd buy bespoke not some Shitalian menswear brand.
>>18787520>bespokewith who? be specific. you do realize bespoke tailors will just give you their house cut. you don't go to savile row and ask for a neopolitan jacket, you'll get garbage. bespoke has turned into made to measure with a lot of salesmanship
>>18786038>>18787631redpill me on suit supply. is it worth it to get just one navy suit for all purposes. i don't wear em often
>>18786038Practically the only demographic which regularly wears suits are trial lawyers. If you are not a trial attorney, you probably don't need a suit. If you need suits for whatever reason, it would be better to spend money or 2 made to measure or ideally bespoke ones from a tailor that has a house style you like (eg an english cut), and then buy some beater second hand ones for regular court appearances off of ebay.
>>18787646>suitslopply fills the gap between fused made in china and canvassed made in italy/england. they came on the scene in a big way about 10-15 years ago when slim fit suits were taking off and millennials were buying their first suits. >i don't wear em oftenthen get something better. you don't need multiple suits in 2027, in fact, you don't need one at all. >navy suit there's nearly no social situation where it's required anymore, not jobs nor job interviews nor weddings (the rate of which is going way down anyway). the advice that 'your first piece of tailored clothing should be a navy suit' advice really needs to be updated because in the last decade it's role in society has been completely phased out, even if people on /fa/ or SF wish that weren't the case. some better advice would be just get a sport coat with a visually interesting cloth, either pattern or material, so it can be a part of a stylish outfit you wear out night for fun, you'll get way more use out of it instead of the navy suit that sits in the back of the closet.
>>18786038stop pretending that anyone at all wears suits dudes dressing up to make tiktoks are cringe
>>18786146People in 100$ outfits have sex with women hotter than you ever will pull.
>>18788072press x to doubt lol
>>18787349That was interesting to hear your perspective since a lot of menswear influencers are pushing bespoke or made to measure now. >>18787443>>18787446It will get you noticed when you are in a sea of proles used to dressing in thugwear. Being able to dress for the occasion and knowing how to properly wear a suit can get you noticed and put into leadership positions. I endured years of butthurt from more senior co-workers because wearing a navy suit to family day got me noticed by the higher ups and fast tracked on a leadership course.>>18787856>>18787875Bad advice
>>18788126dudes dressing up to make tik toks is cringe though
>>18788131Yeah I wont disagree with that. Plus is it just me or does his suit look like it is made of Rayon? He strikes me as one of those guys that work a a normie menswear shop and got an employee discount.
>>18786038Eh.... not really. I started my career earning $43k, and now I make around 290k. (so 3500/month at the start, now 24,000). Early on I had shit suits, not quite Zara but probably somewhere around there. At mid-tier (when I was in the low-to-mid 100s) I would do Corneliani and Canal, so that part is roughly accurate. But Even though I can afford Brioni and Kiton now they aren't staples in my wardrobe. Setting aside bespoke pieces, Sartoria Partenopea is where I generally go for suits; Pal Zileri and Caruso are where I generally go for odd jackets. But provided you have a decent tailor, once you hit canvassed suits, the diminishing returns are real (and really they start diminishing pretty quickly at half-canvassed).
>>18788126The advice about navy suits being passe is spot on, at least in coastal US cities. They occupy a formality level that doesn't really exist anymore (slightly more formal than a suit of any other color, less formal than black-tie). A suit with a non-patterned fabric is really as formal as you get now unless you go the full step up into dinnerwear.
>DUDE, SUITS!>works some cuck job and is poor every time
>>18788126>Bad advicewhat's bad about it? you're setting up a false dichotomy of streetwear and suits. you'll get way more use out of a casual sport coat and it will be appropriate in every occasion you need to dress up for
>>18788150Thats just your experience. I worked in govt so perhaps the culture is different.>>18788157>there's nearly no social situation where it's required anymoreWhat? You still need a navy or charcoal suit for certain occasions.
>>18788194That's somewhat funny, as I also work in government (which is really the only industry besides law, referenced earlier, where suits are still expected). And I will still say that the navy suit is less adaptable than a gray suit, and that in most cases a coat and tie will work just as well. It's not that you *can't* wear a navy suit in situations where you would otherwise be wearing a suit, it's more that there are many situations in which a navy suit is out of place, when another color, or even better an odd jacket, would be better.
>>18788198You are probably American.
>>18788207Yes, hence the reference to coastal US cities in my earlier post.
>>18786701Nice of you to post a selfie.
>>18788194>certain occasionsgo ahead and name them. be specific
