For acne, been on doxycycline and clindamycin for about 5 months, and tazarotene for two. It's not really working. I'm almost 40 years old and look like shit.
skin 1004 face wash15% azelaic acid moisturiser, was using 345 relief cream but i switched to a cheaper one i forgot the name beauty of joseon spf, open to recommendations im not a huge fan of thismy skin is awful desu and azelaic acid is the only thing that improves the PIH and keeps the acne at bay. i have some hydroquinone that i might just use up this winter

Anyone have a purging period when starting a retinoid cream?

>>18786761Why do people bother with OTC retinoids if you can get prescription Tazarotene or Adapalene? My derm just said "oh you'd like some? Sure" when I asked.
>>18786774Aren’t these for topical use only? I don’t struggle with acne really, I want the general anti-aging benefits of it. I just may not know better so explain.
>>18786774Some derms are fucking assholes who treat it like you're asking for stimulants lol. I got told no when I asked for tret as well as finasteride at different points.
derm put me on 7 months of accutane to fix my skin condition. she made a guess that i had folliculitis and not acne anymore based on the fact that the remaining white pus spots all had a hair follicle in the middle. she then prescribed me erythromycin topical solution for the folliculitis. i saw no progress after half a month, so looked online for help. i saw a reddit post about using hibiclens antiseptic chlorhexidine gluconate 4% solution + eucerin eczema on the affected area to clear folliculitis as well as aloe vera as a safer option. i started doing that about 9 days ago, and while i did see less and smaller white pus spots, the affected area on my cheeks and upper lip is still super red and itchy, looking pretty much unchanged. ill attach some pictures i took. it looks way redder and darker in person, the pictures don't do it justice. the affected area is also super dry with flaky peeling skin, even after being off accutane for almost a month now. there's also white dry bits stuck to the beard hair strands.recently she prescribed me with 10 days worth of cephalexin capsules. she also flat out told me that she is out of ideas on how to treat me and to see other dermatologists for their opinions. i asked for a culture swab and the culture swab results came in and the anaerobic and aerobic cultures both showed no growth, and no infection. genuinely at a loss for what to do next. if my condition isn't caused by bacteria or fungi, what could it possibly be? how could i possibly treat it? i don't even know anymore

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but I'm sick of still having a bunch of stubble after shaving, what are good razors?I know single blade ones are considered the best but I am also a pussy and am scared of cutting myself a bit.Frankly I'm outright considering laser treatment, if anybody has info on that, and if it will mean my hair growth is slowed like 2x to 3x and/or it will get rid of the visible greyness on my chin and below my nose from stubble.
>>18787807That's weird. Have you tried doxycycline and a retinoid? Otherwise, yeah definitely get more opinions if you can, a doctor shouldn't be giving up like that.>>18787924Single blade can work well for some people, but it's mostly a meme for men who want to be more "manly" and "old school". Using one blade by itself is not guaranteed in any way to get a closer shave. There is a point where too many blades does lead to a worse shave though. 3 seems to be the sweet spot. Also, what is your prep and technique? I find that rubbing my face vigorously against the grain with wet hands helps pull the follicles out a bit further, then I lather up, then shave against the grain with a light touch, does pretty well.
>>18787807Also, since it's mostly around facial hair, is it possible it's some kind of allergic reaction? Is there some product you're using on your beard or for shaving that could cause it? It's possible the formulas might have changed without you knowing.
>>18787989she put me on minocycline pills before accutane, but the condition came back as soon as i ran out.>>18788041 last year i ate 2 slices of cheese cake which caused the worst acne i ever had in my life. then used de la cruz sulfur for like a week to try to fix it, and used it exactly like the instructions said. i also started eating red onion for like a month. after a month of no results the derm (highly rated in my area) put me on 2 months of minocycline. didnt work, then she put me on accutane like in my earlier post. aside from the sulfur and red onion i havent changed any of my shaving habits or diet from when i still had perfectly clear skin
Switched from tretinoin 0.1% to tazarotene 0.05% a few weeks ago and it's been a genuine improvement already. But on Amazon pharmacy it $300 for a tube instead of $20 for tret fuuuckkkl
>>18788293If an antibiotic did work for a while, ask if you can try a combo of low dose, long term doxycycline and a retinoid, also clindamycin. That's what I've been on. It didn't completely clear everything up, but it got a lot of the way there. But heads up, there was a couple weeks after starting the retinoid where it got worse though.>>18788353Can you use that Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs site? It's like $40 there. I haven't used it myself, I get it through my insurer's pharmacy.
where do i buy accutane online in the US? ive been on 0.1% tretinoin for almost 10 months now and its done nothingdont wanna use indiamart or pay using crypto
>>18788509being on doxy long term if harmful because it kills good bacteria and flora. as soon as you get off the doxy, the bad bacteria will come back worse and spread farther because there is no good bacteria left to contest it.
>>18788509This is crazy, what the hell goes on in the gel manufacturing versus the cream
>>18788756At a low dose, it's fine. At least... that's what my doctor told me. I'm on 50mg twice a day.>>18788773Oh, I don't know. I'm on the cream.
For me it'sPM:>La Roche-Posay cleanser>La Roche-Posay moisturizer
threadly reminder than anything but salicylic acid, tretinoin and zinc oxide is a complete waste of money and is doing absolutely nothing
very basic to skin care looking for some pointers.AM-apply sunscreenPM-double cleanse with Cera ve oil cleanser followed by LRP effaclar cleanser w warm water (not hot)then I rotate nightly applying salicylic acid or LRP B3 retinol serum back and fourth (my skin is kinda sensitive and I can't use the retinol every night or too heavy.)Overtop of this I'll apply a layer of cerave moisturizing cream to absorb overnight.I have pretty healthy skin and look a bit younger than my age, but I've been noticing more enlarged pores which I've been trying to combat with the salicylic acid.Any tips? I'm trying to keep it relatively simple product-wise and not get too complicated when I'm not certain what I'm doing.
