So no fake leather and polyester lining, real denim, not stretch shit, 100% cotton, you get the idea. Also, anything that's worn like a costume is going to look cringe. You're supposed to wear the clothes, not the other way around. Meaning that the clothes have to adapt to your life, you don't adapt your life to your clothes.
