The Fragrance Groups 101 Chart
The Fragrance Flowchart for Beginners
Which arab clones are genuinely worth it?Tried Oud for Glory and Asad and they sucked
>>18782366I liked Oud for Glory. As a rule of thumb, Afnan has good fragrances that are actually worth trying, Maison Alhambra has decent dupes for the price, Lattafa and Rayhaan are mixed bags, and Armaf disappoints.
>>18782392>I liked Oud for Glory. It felt like a Baccarat dupe to meI wanted a heavier oud rather than a saffron bombAnyway thanks
Thoughts on Fan Your Flames?
>>18782366It pains me to shill this because it has a youtubers name attached to it but picrel is genuinely a good fragrance. You can actually smell it evolve throughout wearing it. Never smelt YSL 6 but Thriller is good on its own merits. I'd also like to suggest Exotic Oud by Gulf Orchid, an Oud Maracuja clone. Those two are my favorite arabs out of my collection right now. There's a few more I'd wanna suggest but I'm practicing restraint.
best gunpowder frag?
>>18782442Dior hommoe
SOTN Ombre Leather
Thoughts? Also got a sample of Althaïr Exclusif
Orange fragrances with good longevity besides TDH?
>>18782461Scandal Pour Homme
I got my 300$ scentsplit sample order last week but fedex forgot to update the status to delivered, should I try to lie and act like I never received it to get a refund
>>18782465Yes. They make millions from decants and their bottles aren't even discounted
>>18782442ELDO Fin Du Monde
>>18782366none (still commend you for dem digits)>sotd: HdP Encens Roichurchmaxxing and autumnmaxxing at the same time
>Burberry LondonJust got this in today. Any idea what I'm in for? Smells like cold air to me.
Is the a scent that replicates a dark wet rainforest?
>SOTD: Dior Jules (2026)this is fucking awesome>>18782589Yatagan but this new Jules also matches that vibe
SOTD meo fusciuni luce
Goddamn this is good. Absolutely beautiful.
Very glad I tried Hermann again, on skin this time. Easily my favorite from ELDO, so far. Afternoon of a Faun sounds interesting, that might be next on my list.
>>18782660not even the best rose frag from ELDO imho
Pulled the trigger on this. Thoughts?I did sample beforehand, it smells like a woman's hair without scented products. PS. i'm not a creep.
>>18782686I hate fragrances that smell like nothing
>>18782698Me too but I have too many vanilla, tobacco, and spice bombs. I've tried white musk and L'eau Papier but they just dont click. Another 13 has this weird yet addictive musky trail
>>18782448Nice picks, anon. Buio and Isola are two of my favourites from Meo. Buio is a real 2-3am kind of contemplative scent. Varanasi is a stanky and dirty Indian oud. Definitely an experience
>>18782612Based, I tried it last week at the Dior boutique and had the same reaction. Really different from anything currently in Diors lineup.
>>18782720niceimo it's somewhere at the intersection of Yatagan, Polo (Green) and Equipage which is incredibly based in 2026 and the quality is also great - a rare Dior/Kurkdjian W in my bookinitially i thought this will be the worst combination of cash grab and butchering classic frags and now i am actually tempted to buy other frags from this collection
Where do you buy samples from in Europe? Like Notino has a very limited pre-arranged packages to chose from but I can't find anything like>>18782448
received one of the nicest complements ever today wearing LV Lovers... a supervisor told me I smelled so good she was going to take me home and have her way with me (jokingly of course)
>>18782700how good is the sillage? I want to buy it, but i'm worried it stays very close to the skin and doesn’t project much
>>18782731fragrantworldshop
>>18782735Thanks! Is this a legit site? It's got some vibecoded red flags
>>18782736I ordered twice from them and it was very goodIf you live in western europe there's also noseparis which I can attest to being good though a little pricy
>>18782738thank you
SOTDI like it although I’m surprised how sweet it is. Fig isn’t listed in the official notes but I’m getting like a salty fig/salty sweetness
>>18782741I owned the EDP for more than a year and while it was good, it ended up being really boring due to how linear it isThe EDT Intense is better imo, the fig note is more prominent with added watermelon and no leather. Less versatile though, strictly for summer
>>18782735 Use them as your very last option. -Their products might be authentic, but their ordering process and shipment partner are not on their game. I ordered a few samples two weeks ago. Its been "in transit" for five days and still not left the country. I'm not the only complaining on that part of their operation
>>18782743Huh, things went well the two times I ordered from them but it was a while ago, maybe their logistics have worsened
What kind of accords do I want for winter?
>>18782741I like it in summer or autum. I dont want marine scents other time long lasting too
>>18782746labdanum, olibanum, styrax, vanilla, tobacco, tonka, incense, rum, honey, leather, anything dense, cozy and enveloping
>>18782746Cinnamon or amber scents.
>>18782743what do you recommend then?
>>18782752I haven't found any place. Just go to Douglas and get in a conversation with the old lady with experience.
1 Million Black smells very familiar and I can’t quite reason out what it reminds me of.
>>18782717Thanks. I've been checking out a lot of Meo's stuff and it's become one of my favorite niche houses.
>>18782731scentsplit ships to europe too pretty quicklyI also used eurodecants and testyourparfum because I wanted to try some designers not just niche
>>18782762Does it remind you of the smell of your mother's couch smells when you get home from a weekend at Dad's place?
Do you guys ever buy backup bottles? I'm always afraid a brand will suddenly discontinue a great fragrance because muh sales even though theyre raking in a shit ton of money anyways
>>18782660I like it too, but I find it hard to come up with an outfit that matches it.
SOTN Amouage Lustre.
Should I blind buy this?
>>18782817I would
I work in a fragrance house and I'm in a position where I can have pretty much any perfume I ask for. I work in the flavor side of the company, so I really appreciate all the guides here, as this is a completely new world to me. Anything in particular to take advantage of? Today I was given Delina Exclusif and I love it. Another piece of information: the best thing I've ever smelled in my career is pure Exaltolide.
Just blind bought dior pour homme parfum, what am I in for bros...
>>18782856should have bought dior homme original instead desu
Just pulled the trigger on a full bottle of Amore Caffe. It just fits perfectly with my personal style.
>>18782734Sillage is good. I think that is one of the main points in contrast to projection. it’s not a room-filling fragrance. It’s perfect if you want non-perfumy perfumes or if you work in a very sensitive office setting.
Bought a bottle of Oud Minerale. Love this stuff. Smelling like a coastal shipwreck.
>>18782856the kurky version is fine but i don't know the old version, drier than DHI and maybe a bit more linear
Is Imagination a meme?
>>18782898it's probably a good frag sold for an exorbitant price and made artificially scarce due to marketing considerations related to the notion of exclusivity (not unlike Creed before they went all out with beastmode sloppa)>tl;dr: yes
>>18782723Indeed I shall no longer call him Turkdjian
at least until his next L
>>18782906fuck, i forgot /fa/ doesnt do spoilers
>>18782804I have. Either so I can open it myself later, or berhaps so i can rub my hands together and resell it for 5x the price someday. I've got several backups of Dior stuff unopened
>>18782766Aye, Meo's one of my favourites too atm, I've got samples of their whole collection. Definitely one of the more unique houses I've tried. Got a fb of last season, planning to get a few more when on sale from one of my local stockists. Haven't tried Amara Vita though>SOTD BuioThat resinous and dry patchouli hits good, sprayed it at 6am and still somewhat detect it now at 6pm
>>18782872I've been eyeing this one for a blind buy. How does it compare to other marine scents?
>>18782908ohnoanyway>SOTD: Oud Ispahan Esprit De Parfumi like it but wouldn't pay 440 eurobucks for it, good stinky oud with rose and spices, quite similar to Prin's Saringkarn (which is imo more interesting), unisex, performance is good
I bet the future of fragrance is just recycling accords and then slapping a unique note on the marketing. Bet you in 5 years there will be a Drakkar Noir dupe with notes of "Italian herbs, gin, and Japanese hotel soap".
>>18782839No great suggestions for specific frags, only thing that comes to mind is if you have access to more raw materials, that can be interesting, though understand they all smell different at various concentrations. E.g. the stock pure stuff of some materials may smell bad, but smell heavenly diluted out to 1% or even 0.01%. Similar vain but less ‘exclusive’ is just using your “in” status to sniff random perfumes.
>>18782839a list of the fragrance houses company has access to would make it a bit easier desuyou can also lurk moar and check out the frags anons are shilling
>>18782736Definitely very legit.
bang for you buck
>>18782898Buy the Zara clone
>>18782793This seems very personal, I wonder what happened at your moms anon. Sorry about the divorce
>>18782898Its a reasonably good scent at an unreasonable price>>18782935Theres only so many combinations we can make that don't smell like shit. Kinda like how 80 of music shares the same 4 chords
>>18782930the drydown is spicy (even gourmandish), this frag changed a lot between top, middle and base (the base is not at all like Saringkarn desu)
SOTD Stronger With You Parfum. Got this for free. Not bad for vanillaslop, the leather really carries it
>>18782892old version is a lot more busy and less linear. very amped up leather and added rose in the drydown
Is Guerlain Mitsouko EdP suitable for men?
>>18782910kek was considering buying backups of dior stuff too. those guys love to discontinue amazing fragrances
>>18782898sorta. its great for people who dont really care about having a fragrance collection and just wanna smell good but those same people will be fine also buying a 100 dollar or less fragrance
>>18782935thats already the trend. a 500 dollar version of drakkar noir and a 300 dollar version of a&f fierce have been on the market for years
>>18783035yes>>18783038this
>>18782686I'm a guy and also own and wear it from time to time. Def more of a spring/summer scent. For an androgenous scent, it leans more towards the femme side of things. I have smelled more women wearing this than men. It fits a certain vibe to pull off, and has a kind of sexual energy to it. You have to be a certian kind of guy to pull this off desu. The Noir, and The Matcha are perfect scents for fall winter and a bit easier to approach.
>>18783055What kind of guy do you mean?
>>18782650Quick glance it looks like a lavender powerhouse, is it a similar lavender to laundry detergent or is it less harsh. Also how prominent is the rose, that’s the part I’m most interested in
>>18783058Either more fuckboy/sexcore or complete twink. Like I said, Another 13 has a kind of sexual/feminine energy to it, and you either embrace the more femme side of things or balance it out by being very masculine. If you fall somewhere in the middle you will be perceived as more feminine/gay.
Is Encre Noir known for having a lot of Iso E in it? It reminds me of a pencil sometimes and that’s what I keep hearing Iso E smells like
>>18783067yes
>>18783067yeah, shittons
If I like Pineward fragrances like Nocturnis, what other brands should I look into?
SOTD Amouage Reasons.Pretty mid for a $450 scent.
SOTD: Givenchy Gentleman IntenseA dry, rather than creamy iris, along with a lot of cypress and cedar. Good longevity too. Shame it’s discontinued, but I don’t see myself missing it too much once my 50mL is gone. Good office fragrance.
Which frags do you use year-round? Maybe even consider your signature?
>>18783115>use year-round>signaturei use NYI year-round but only for special occasions
>2-3 weeks remain before black friday and november sales begin>autistically aware of actual prices on hundreds of fragsthey won't get away with selling normal price as discount this time
>>18783030>try wearing SWY intensely for the first time>gf cannot stop burying her face in my neck>get told multiple times throughout the day by different people that I smell greatYes I know it’s a basic bitch frag worn predominately by teenagers, but it’s absolutely worth it
>>18783118Kind of a waste to have lovely frags and only wear them every blue moon.
I got COVID and I can't smell anything anymore. Pray for me.
>>18783130
>>18783130I also had no sense of smell or taste during covid and I'm fine now. You'll be back to picking notes apart in arab dupes in no time
>>18783134>>18783132Love you bros o7
>>18783038>a 500 dollar version of drakkar noirWhat is it?>300 dollar version of a&f fiercePercival? I think Kilian's Vodka on the Rocks is the better Fierce clone though
>>18783115Unironically Naxos, anytime, anywhereMight get Acqua di Sale or something for very hot summer days though
>>18782898nah. it's not my favorite fragrance, but it's easily my most complimented.
>>18783143which notes are they complimenting you on?
>>18783146ambroxan/ginger/tea if I had to guess
good dupe?
>>18783137mind games gambit
Best Tauer?
>>18783151I prefer Mont Blanc Explorer
>>18783153PHI Rose of KandaharSundowner is ok
Hope you guys don't mind me smelling more delicious than any of you this coming cold season.
>>18782913NTA but more animalic from what i recall
>>18783115I wear Orage and Imagination year-round and consider Orage my signature frag.
>>18782366ARMAF club de nuit intense pure parfum
>>18783151It really isn't, the opening sucks and the rest of it is just not that great. Not to the point of being hyped to death at least. This anon >>18783154 got it
How does Hedonist Extrait compare to Vibrato?I know they both share the Tygar dna, and I'm really liking Vibrato (disliked Tygar due to heavy musk) but I've yet to pull the trigger on a full bottle in case I'll love Hedonist - and that they might overlap too much.
It's not the season for it. But did CK stop doing their summer frags? I had the 2019 one that I gave to my brother and it honestly smelled fantastic. It was like a fresh summer breeze blowing across a river.
Is there a tobacco frag like Herod's opening but with better performance?
>>18783210of all the Tygar DNA frags, Hedonist Extrait is the closest to OG Tygar to my nose, like almost identical, so if you don't like Tygar you should definitely NOT blind buy Hedonist Extrait
Tried this today and really enjoyed it, gf smelled it on me and loved it but it turned into a skin scent almost instantly. Is there a longer-lasting alternative in the same aromatic profile? It's reminding me of Light Blue Capri in Love, like I'm getting a light fig from the tea accords but it's still on the lighter side instead of juicy sweetness. Oh and also Myslf L'Absolu rocks.
Just came in. Smells like a grapefruit picked straight off the tree, then practically aerosol of bergamot on opening, dries down to pomelo gummies. Really fun scent. I definitely liked it more last year when I tried it in store. Maybe it needs to macerate.
These also came in. Fucking disgusting. They smelled generic in store, even worse to smell them at home with the other smells from the fragrance counter not present. The Uomo has that distinct metallic lavender that all $20 nobody brands use. I recognize it as the base of Hawthorne Frozen Flame they sell at Target. There’s a name for that base I can’t remember. It’s used in so many male designers.
>>18782898no, the scent profile is unironically fairly unique and sophisticated, also it's quite versatile. you can easily spray it on in the fall and even daytime winter wear is probably fine. it's a compliment magnet to boot.that said there are much cheaper clones, inspirations, etc. out there who pretty much 90% nail it. if you're comparing side by side yeah imagination stands out as the higher quality frag but out on the street almost nobody will clock you.that said if you want something like a one-and-done signature scent worthy designer frag Imagination is one of the safest blind buys out there. but I would suggest
Praying for the soul of the anon above, who got sniped mid frag suggestion
>>18783100Damn, none of you guys like nature I take it?
I finally know what Another 13 reminds me of. It’s those white filters on cigarettes. It has a different scent profile than tobacco, more musky dry and papery. Honestly it should be its own note.
>>18783319I'm in Australia so i cant get pineward frags to sample for shit. They seem interesting though.>SOTD Higher EnergyNostalgic scent. Reminds me of yellowed grey early 2000s computer equipment
Idk bros I might be a noselet but it smells like bugspray. I also go noseblind to it very quickly. I like a lot of Bisch’s other fragrances but this one confuses me. I have a sample of Ganymede coming too although if it’s anything like this I’m probably not going to enjoy it.
>>18782804I don't because I regret it every time. I think it makes sense if you have a small collection. I also have discontinued fragrances that become harder and more expensive to find. Even then I have enough fragrances to make up for it. If I could never replace my favorite I would be sad but sure I could find new favorites.
>>18783339if you regret it cant you still sell the fragrance?
>>18783330I don't get bugspray, I get cheap synthetic florals. It's just not a good smell but the majority of people care more about the performance so they like it. Which fragrances from Bisch do you like? He is my nemesis because I'm not a fan of Delina or Bois Imperial. He is skilled, making a lasting fresh fragrance is no easy feat but he just does not appeal to my nose. My tastes are more cozy, relaxed, natural, and smooth.
>>18783374Yes. I just learned to stop doing it even when it is very tempting.
>>18783377I may have spoke too soon since the drydown is definitely more pleasant but synthetic is a good word to describe it. I like Le Sel and Kenzo Homme EDP. This reminds me of Le Sel but with all the aquatic aspects taken out.
>>18783153Incense Rose is probably my favorite. I also like Le Maroc pour Elle and his Attar. I own Incense Extreme which is an amazing smell but very overpowering for me to wear.
>tfw want a woody vetiver autumn scent>going frag shopping with my gf on saturday>they dont sell encre noire at the perfume shop in the UKsadge
>3 for high temperatures>3 for moderate temperatures>3 for low temperaturesCan you do it?
>>187834199 is already too much, I'm looking to cut down my collection drastically. 1 summer, 1 winter, 1 special occasions maybeNot sure what to get for summer and special occasions though. I feel like the latter overlaps with winter frags a lot, while summer fragrances tend to be too fresh for my liking
How did you find your signature scent?
>>18783427Sampled a bunch of stuff to hone in on the specific accords I liked, then sampled more stuff until I found something that made me go "yeah I could see myself wearing this every day without getting sick of it"
>>18783035I would say no, even if I'm a man and wear it. It's too soft and sweet for me to consider masculine. Maybe unisex for a gentle and dandy man.
Thoughts on Imperium Electimuss?
>>18783427I'm not the "signature scent" type. I enjoy rotating fragrances. There are some fragrances I identify with personally like Ungaro pour L'Homme and Leather Oud.
>>18783427>How did you find your signature scent?Quite by accident. I wear other fragrances, but this is the one that people recognize. It's a fragrance that I wear quite a bit that no one else in my area wears. Robert Graham Valour.
>>18783419>3 for high temperaturesH24, Neroli Intense, eau d'orange vert>3 for moderate temperaturesTerre d'Hermes, Encre Noire a l'Extreme, Lalique Pour Homme>3 for low temperaturesJaipur Homme, Dior Homme Parfum (old version), Fat Electrician
>>18783419I only need 7 since Imagination is my year-round signature. Call me basic but it's fucking divine and even in winter I sometimes just wanna smell clean and fresh.
>>18783499I was kinda disappointed by the Zara dupeIs the OG really much better?
At class young woman my age leaned very close close to my chest. I had one spray naxos. After class i talked with her. I think we are on good terms so far. Lowkey extra exp points talkibg to attractive woman. Its building my charisma
>>18783500I have never sampled an Imagination dupe so I couldn't tell you. I avoid dupes in general. I enjoy having real originals and money isn't really an issue. If I'm gonna wear something for years I want it to be the real thing and not some Arab facsimile or something.
>>18783500It's not that much better, just smoother while SOTRSD is a little sharp. Trying Imagination after buying a Sunrise decant is what made me decide to buy Sunrise, validated it as a good dupe for me. It's a simple scent profile done well.
>>18783499this but prada lhomme leau
Is Bentley Silverlake really the closest thing left to ADG Essenza?
>>18783427Tobacco Vanille was my signature scent. Then became Red Tobacco and Tobacolor. I just tested it in the mall on and said “that one smelled nice”. It’s pretty boring desu.
>>18783427Chance. I just wore something that clicked and felt like me. It’s Woodphoria before they reformulated it.
>>18783534How do you go from TV to Red Tobacco nigga
>>18783557Gave away TV to my dad since he needs to impress his new gfI just liked Red Tobacco better. I felt Tobacco Vanille was more mature for me and im a sucker for that cherry ashtray combo
>>18783427way too many frags to ever have a true signature... if I had to pick one it'd be L’Immensité and I only wear that maybe once ever other week
SOTD Penhaligons AlUlaBeen a while since a frag got me bringing my elbow up to smell it so often.Really smooth, bit of baccy, bit of plum, tiny bit of vanilla - all take the edge off a fair amount of smokey incense. Not incredibly sweet, and definitely more of a summer fragrance. The heat opens up this composition up a lot more
>>18783570What’s with this shitty AI photoshoot. Is this from the brand? I swear do marketing directors even realize this affects their image. It looks shit. At least pay a photographer or a 3D modeler to do the job
>>18783575Nah, I got it off Google from some site that sells them. You can even see the ai logo in the bottom corner.>At least pay a photographer or 3D modelerShould we tell him?
>SOTN: Dior Sauvage Extraita huge downgrade compared to the Elixir, smells kinda like a generic 20 bucks masculine frag, lasts for ever tho
>>18783590Which 20 bucks masculine frag/s in particular?
I buy middle eastern dupes for cheap and Im proud of it.
>>18783592can't say, go into the male aisle of a frag store, take a sniff and it will smell something like this (probably some shit amberwood in the base)
Any frags that give a feeling of restfulness, one that you would wear to bed mainly for yourself?
>>18783595Me too, my guy. I got 5 this week, I just sprayed one 5 times on myself as I work from home this morning. Imagine paying 3 figures for smelly water LMAO
>>18783427Sometimes you just smell a frag that really stands out to you and speaks to you. My first frag was Ferragamo F Black, I dont even remember how I found it and got into it. Then it was La Nuit De LHomme, my mom won some YSL beauty gift basket and that was in it, she gave it to me and I really fucking liked it. Another more recent one was D&G The One it just made me feel very nostalgic and sensual for whatever reason (before the reformulation, I still have mixed feelings about the new formula, it seems to have traded its sovl for performance, but a lot of people say it’s just a different opening note.)I have a few other frags that matter less to me. I like Bleu de Chanel a lot and wear it a lot but it doesn’t feel “100%” me. Maybe it’s just because I’m older now and still getting used to not wearing La Nuit to nightclubs anymore. I recently blind bought Moustache EDP and fucking love it. Waiting for the right time to wear it more, it’s very rich.
>>18783154I recently got explorer, i liked it more in the store desu. It has kind of a diesel note Im not really liking, know what I mean? I still wear it for weekday freshness now and then
>>18783598The smell of The Cachemire feels like Boa - Duvet sounds. Slightly melancholic, but relaxing
Guys I'm looking for a winter fragrance
>>18783649>Guys I'm looking for a winter fragranceHdP Encens Roiyou are welcome
Do you guys have an easier time finding a summer frag you like or a winter frag you like?
>>18783653Winter by farSummer frags are way more boring on average>>18783649Oud Ispahan, Alexandria II, Vanille Havane
>>18783503>naxosThis is just a niche/more expensive smelling version of le male elixirI mean it's not a bad thing it smells great, the drydown especially is heavenlyBut is Xerjoff like PDM in that it takes designer formulas and makes them better, or is this just a coincidence? I was thinking of trying torino21
>>18783675>I was thinking of trying torino21Then also check out Buongiorno by AdP. The better Torino21 imo.
>>18783677Are you >>18783499?I'm actually looking for a warm weather frag that performs well and had torino21 and imagination both on my "to try" list. I'll try buongiorno too, thanks
>>18783678Yeah that's me. Enjoy sampling them.
What is /cold fall wedding/ core?Thinking of throwing on my sample of Arquiste Aleksandr. It gave me formal vibes last time I tried it
>>18783678Try Vibrato Sospiro and Hacivat
>>18783694>HacivatI don't buy from t*rks but vibrato seems niceBasically tygar + TDH from what I'm reading? I'll try it out too
>>18783694>sospiroLiterally Xerjoff's twin that's been outsourced to the Arabs.
>>18783711I don't see a Xerjoff Vibrato
>>18783727It's Erba Pura
>>18783598Any powdery frag has that vibe, Light Blue EDT and YSL L'Homme EDT both give me this feeling, would wear them in the comfort of my home just for me. Soft cashmere-ish white florals also work, Soleil Neige by TF is a dope comfy frag
How does oud smell like?
>>18783123But… they will. Just like they have for the past 5+ years. Maybe -you- won’t buy it, but they’re still gonna sell it at that faux “discounted” price, because other people will still think “Ooh, it’s Black Friday, this must be a deal!” and buy it. >>18783740Like most “individual” notes it can have a range of a profile. The most tame, or normie friendly profiles are woody, with some herbal/spicy undertones. More “intermediate” profiles are still woody but lean more herbal and can even take on rubbery scents, like if you walked into a tire shop/warehouse. The really “acquired taste” profiles have nuanced woody facets, but smell mostly of feces or dirty barns.
Trying Naxos first the first time today (and also CK One on my other arm). It’s… pretty good. Unlike most /frag/gots I do really enjoy sweet gourmand profiles, but I feel like this deserves… maybe I’ll phrase it as ‘less’ hate because it’s a bit more complex than just Dump In All The Ethylmaltol. I’m sure some will disagree, maybe it comes with experience of actual testing a variety of sweet gourmands, but think it smells different. It’s definitely a smoothed over creamy sweetness, but I get facets of the honey, the jasmine gives it a bubblegum type sweetness, the cinnamon I can’t pick up quite as distinctly, but I also only sprayed it less than a half hour ago, so I’ll see. I will say the opening was registering a little more feminine than I was expecting, and I couldn’t place why. Still needs more testing, but it feels like something I would swap back and forth with Egoiste depending on the weather.
>>18783750>smell mostly of feces or dirty barns.who the fuck would ever want to smell like this
>>18783769Again, “acquired taste”. There are a lot of “bad” flavors that we train ourselves to enjoy, bitter coffee, rotted grapes, fermented fish, etc. you do it enough and eventually you start to pick up distinct nuances in the taste that are enjoyable. The same can be true for scents.
>>18783598i wear Nice Bergamote or Fico di Amalfi to bed. the former is more adequate for bedtime imo but Fico is so clean to lie in bed with. Ghost in the Shell i wear to bed too
>>18783737not even remotely similar. ones very fruity and the other citrussy. Sospiro does have its own Eba Pura as well
Oud just smells like leather to me. Idk how people smell poop maybe I have a genetic mutation or something
>>18783803Ouds that you likely haven’t smelled. They’re not particularly common because they’re not mass appealing.
>>18783675I have accentoI tried mefisto, opera, irisss, uden overdose then a bunch at airport. They are good. Im trying random everytime i pass. While they are generic some synthetic its overall good quality. Discounters is ok price. Btw it was me attracting young woman using naxos was just cold calculation. It was safest quivk term bet.
>>18783810Which ones are the best?
I only have Lira from Xerjoff. It's a nice lavendernilla citrus combo. Smells like a meringue.
>>18783063I find it beautiful. You know that lovely smell of lavender in the air when you walk past a garden that has a bunch of lavender in it? Flowery and sweet and gently herbal and green. Delicious in an herbal way. Beautiful. Not at all harsh or like detergent.I don't detect any rose. I guess they just used tiny amounts to increase the flowery aspect of the lavender. To make it a bit more soft and gentle and round off the scent as a whole.Though I admit that when I sprayed it for the first time the lavender hit was truly intense. I think it takes a wear or two of getting used to. At least it was like that for me. But now I find it absolutely enchanting. It also radiated pretty nicely and leaves such a lovely trail. Been asked about it several times already and I only started wearing it this week.
Do you ever buy something blind without testing first?
>>18783830Almost always
>>18783831do you resell it if its not your taste?
>>18783832Nah I use it. But I've rarely been really disappointed. The most recent "disappointment" I blind bought was Megamare and it's only because I go noseblind to it way too quickly so I can't really enjoy it. Other than that I know what I like and dislike so my blind buys are usually successfulThe real redpill though is that when you blind buy your frags you'll trick your mind into enjoying them more than if you sample them beforehand.
>>18783839>when you blind buy your frags you'll trick your mind into enjoying them more than if you sample them beforehand100% and that's not good
>>18783842I've almost never bought a full bottle of any frag I sampled beforehand. Only times it happened were with Naxos and LADDM which swayed me at first sniffBut I usually find something that's not ideal upon wearing the sample a few times, something in the scent profile that could be improved, so I don't get the frag. Blind buying solves that issue
>>18783844lmao you are wearing scents because of buyers remorse?????
>>18783845Your reading comprehension is not good.
>>18783847You are blind buying scents but you're not wearing them?!
>>18783850Where the fuck did I say that? If I blind buy something and end up not liking it I'll just give it awaySo far it hasn't happened because I know my tastes
>>18783851then dont imply something when replying to a post of mine when you say that you use the scent.
>>18783852You are really fucking stupid and I truly mean itLearn to read dumbass
>>18783769Me, it's just odor gatekeeping. It stinks at first but then it smells amazing. The problem is that it becomes something you only wear for yourself because everyone is smelling it for the first time and it will stink to them.
Just tried Black Sea Lorenzo Pazzaglia, it smells like an actually good wearable Megamare. I found Megamare pretty mid
What's the best skin-but-better frag, and why is it Black Tie?
>>18783803My favorite oud smell is when it smells like Play Doh.
>>18783653Winter frags are way more fun. You can have more bold smells. Summer lends itself to freshness as a rule
>>18783769who do you think? Browns, where most of the Oud stuff is popular
>>18783830Moustache EDP. Do it. I should be paid for how much I shill it
>>18783830All the time desu I'm not gonna hunt down an $8 sample of some $20 arab dupe/classic drugstore cheapie or try to find it locally. If the notes look cool I'll just redeem it
>From the very first notes, fine lavender from Drôme Provençale Orpur® unfolds its aromatic backbone, reconnecting the fragrance with the signature of the original 1934 composition. Its vibrant, floral freshness opens into a soft balsamic roundness. Enriched French clary sage Orpur® joins the composition, bringing dimension and texture. A clear, uncompromising freshness.>At the heart, an oak wood accord brings depth and substance, while Ambrofix™ envelops the composition in an amber warmth that carries the trail forward.>As the fragrance unfolds, German roasted barley extract Orpur®, inspired by the art of malting, reveals a dry, enveloping warmth. Warm grain, caramel, cocoa, soft tobacco and hay emerge in turn, touched by delicate vanilla nuances. Fir balsam resinoid adds a resinous, balsamic depth, softened by a naturally caramelised facet.Sounds pretty nice desu. I wanna try it.
>>18783885opposite for me I hate clutter id rather way 5$ for a sample of a 20$ frag
>>18783883sell me on it without mentioning the price
Should I blind buy the EDT or the La Parfum version?
>>18783912EdtParfum version is some vanilla slop that smells vaguely of fahrenheit
>>18783912Either or both. I somewhat prefer modern le parfum to modern edt. Parfum also pulls a lot of compliments, very easy to wear. Has a hint of sweetness but not too much. Edt is a lot dryer and has that squeaky new leather out of the box type of smell. Each is refreshing in their own way and different enough to warrant having both
>ordering sample box through notino in eu>process stalls on "preparing package">after a week it is cancelled and i get my money sent backThis will be the second time, and now 2 boxes worth of actually good stuff will just vanish. What the fuck are these retards doing? Why list stuff in your store and accept payment only later to say "oops we dont have it after all", wasting my time. This started about a month ago, there were no issues before.
After buying a lot of samples I've settled in to only wearing Aesop Hwyl. This is basically my signature scent at this point. Any thoughts on this scent or Aesop?
redpill me on cdg 2 (not 2 men)
>>18783852you write like you are really really insecure. get help man and leave us alone.
thoughts?
>>18783888It’s already on your radar
>>18783956Legitimately smells like the NICU. Neonatal intensive care unit. If you’re not familiar, a bunch of ill newborn babies hooked to and fed from plastic tubing and ventilators. Rooms where there is an excess of babies, the air is purer/more oxygen. It’s such a specific smell and this perfume captures it. Milk. Silicone. Sterile skin/musk. A mom holding her dying baby. Fuckass smell.
>>18783956I love it. Went through a 50 ml and re-upped with a 100 ml. Some people here shit on it and refer to it as a basic hand soap scent. I wear it as an alternative to citrus/freshies in extremely high heat. It just smells like a very pleasant, enjoyable clean scent. I’ve also had two different women smell it on me and (unprompted) say it smells “Just like clean skin.”
>>18783115lolita lempicka au masculin and zara vapeur blanche are my usual picks when it's not too hot out. i only spray on days i don't feel like being invisible. most days i'd rather be invisible.
>>18783427>>18783429400+ samples later. that was over a decade ago at this point, but i haven't felt a pull to get back into the hobby. it's a lot of fun but i have bills to pay. i just spend that money to restock instead.
>>18783607You would like D&G Pour Homme
>>18783912depends if you prefer more classic and drier or more modern and sweeter
>>18783919What's it like?
Tea should be its own accord. Tired of seeing tea notes on fragrantica only to be paired with fuckass citrus.
>>18784031I have been on the lookout for a bitter black tea without le bergamot meme but I can't find anything
>>18784032Russian Tea from Masque Milano is exactly that https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Masque-Milano/Russian-Tea-28499.html
>>18783969tons of shit is on my radar. my collection is fairly large so im trying to be selective in the next ones i get
>>18783919i think Aesop frags are cool. they're natural and earthy and clean. i think they're not the most performant frag, but that's fine considering their DNA. i do love their other products too. hand creams, soaps, incense, room sprays... it's all great to me
>>18783956i like it a lot. i was looking for a clean skin scent and that's the one i went with. it's definitely a bit thicker than other frags that fall in that category thanks to the lactonic notes but isnt cloying. also works well in the heat thanks to the citrus
just got Sauvage Elixir.what am i in for? is it as loud as people claim it to be?
>>18784060yesit is also good which is rare
>>18784054>the most performantI doubt this is proper english. I think you could say "the best performing" or "they don't have the best performance."
>>18784073yeah correct, that's the French term for it. got the message across. Except maybe for Marrakesh Intense, Aesop frags tend to be more suble with a mid to short longevity
>>18784070sick. im pumped then
>>18784089>the French termGood to know. Now I'll be able to reverse engineer the original language.
Is this thing a more kourosy Kouros?
>>18784101it's not more animalic, but it is also very smoky
>>18784108>>18784101but yeah it's clearly a spin on the aldehyde-dirty DNA of kouros just with a big incensy twist and without the barbershop elements or honey
>>18784098you come off as rather smug for someone that's likely only fluent in a single language
>>18784109Incense/no honey is meh. Skip, then. Thanks.

A dude is selling his barely tested Black Afgano for $160 (it's usually $200 where I live with taxes). Should I pull the trigger? I fucking love this frag and it's about what you'd expect to pay directly from Nasomatto anyways. Shame it's only 30ml>>18784127proved his point lmao
>>18784127embarrassing response. I don't understand why you thought this was a clever comeback
>>18784136go for it
>>18784136buy it if you like it>it's usually $200 where I live with taxesgrim as fuck, in EU it can be found for 100-110 eurobucks>Shame it's only 30ml30ml is quite a lot of this frag, you don't really need more than two sprays
>>18783956its definitely aimed at the "i want a perfume that doesnt smell like perfume" crowd. thats not a bad thing, and part of me is in that crowd but this goes way too far and smells like handsoap in a public restroom to me.
>>18784119I wasn't being smug, you took a random riff way too personal. I'm also ESL. I tried to coddle my response so you wouldn't take it the wrong way but you still did. I wont stop correcting my fellow ESLs but I'll get to the point in the future. Insecure people will always be too sensitive so it doesn't matter how careful you word things for them.

How different is encre noire vs extreme? extreme is double the price of base version in the uk
My thoughts on this?
>>18784136do eet
>>18784127Found the American
>>18784201I wear the Intense pretty often, it works better on me than the OG. Smoky but not "ambery". Citrus is more bitter than sweet. The opening feels brash and old-school, the drydown is more modern and almost 'blue'. Good for milder weather, say 10-25C.
>>18782356Why did they discontinue the Wanted by Night bros. I put off getting a bottle for so long and now price has doubled.
>>18784221Also what should I look at picking up for a fall scent this year? I was planning on getting wanted by night. Last year I dailies spicebomb extreme. I loved it but it was hit or miss with some women. About half thought it was too spicy and intense.
SOTN Fucking love it. Going to get a bottle once my decant is done. Smells a little like Le Lion.
I want a fig bottle for the summer but I can't decide between Debaser, Fig Extasy and Adam & Eve's Dress. Help
>>18782650Interesting how this is only concentrated at 10% up from 5% of the original EdT, but the molecules of the specific oils used are so large and stable, as opposed to those of citruses for example, that even at what is pretty much an EdT concentration this has significant projection and staying power.
>>18784201It's pretty versatile, enough so for any season even if it's probably more suited for autumn/spring. The incense in the drydown is lovely and it's pretty cheap to boot so it works well as a frag you can just mindlessly reach for.
Best Spongebob fragrance?
Habit Rouge? More like Punjabi Rouge
>>18784168Same base, different 30-60 min opening. Also, so the extreme is 10$?>>18784221>>18784223Honestly not sure, but The Most Wanted Parfum fills the same role.

>>18782686It's the only frag from Le Labo that's worth the money IMHO, and I've sampled over 75% of their catalogue. Very much a personal scent so if you're after compliments from people around you I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. That said, you can't go wrong wearing this anywhere - to the office, on an airplane, formal events, it's very classy and sophisticated.
>>18784060Daddy dick late fall/winter ONLY frag. Very little in common with the regular Sauvage imo. Beastmode performance and projection. You'll smell like a 55 year old architect/surgeon/CEO with a 22 year old art hoe gf, who lives exclusively in 5 star hotel suites around the world.

SOTD Spicy, woody, interesting carrot seed note at the top. Idk why but evokes eating a taco at a Taqueria. Overall not bad.
Indian dude who served me my food today was wearing an Aventus clone
>>18784527how did you know it was an aventus clone?
what kind of perfume do guys like on women? i usually wear different variations of vanilla (especially kayali 28) but i’m considering this cinnamon one for fall. is this brand good?
>>18784531I’m not sure what I would like to smell because women are always wearing these cloying floral scents that I can’t stand. I would just stay away from things that are heavy in the floral notes. I personally like deeper, more rich perfumes on a woman that make me want to delve in and explore the scent.
>>18784531i generally hate women and nothing they do ever creates a positive response in me
>>18784531>what kind of perfume do guys like on women?anything tbqh. my ex used to wear a lot of Maison Margiela, but also some Cartier that i gifted her and it worked really well on her skin. but i do like gourmands on women
>>18784531Nothing too sweet. Fresh flowery or fresh fruity is nice. Of course sweet, but just not overdone.
>>18784531white florals
>>18784531It’s no different on women than it is on men, it matters little (not ‘none’) what specifically you wear. The fragrance is an accent, not a core feature. If you’re attractive, engaging, funny, etc. (doesn’t have to be all, any mixture that works well together) enough that people/your specific person likes you, in most cases they’ll associate that smell with liking you and like it as well. Age also plays something of a role, albeit less so. It would be weird to smell cinnamon rolls (perfume) on my grandmother or mother, but if you’re under ~25-30 it’s pretty stock standard. How old are you? Also also, it’s best to avoid the low hanging fruit stuff. Just like if a male is a neckbeard, wears a fedora, and he wears NYI or any other ‘old man’ perfume, he’s setting himself up to be a joke. If a woman is obese, leaning too heavily into the gourmand genre is asking for jokes. Vanilla alone is not gourmand, however, but cinnamon buns may be pushing it. >alsotitsorgtfo
>>18782856It just came in, smacked with lipstick first, once you get past that it's very leathery with some amber and floral tones. Enjoy it but probably wasn't the best blind buy, I can see some people not enjoying it
>>18784544the og was a lot better
>>18784544The iris (lipstick) tends to be love it or hate it. There’s always exceptions, but I think the Europeans tend to like it more than Americans, and I’m definitely in the hate it category. It just doesn’t register as masculine to me, at all, and I don’t even associate it with lipstick like most people. It smells more waxy to me.
>>18784552Are there any clones of the OG? I know there's some dispo that carry sample bottles of discontinued scents but I don't really trust them desu
>>18784533you are so silly
>>18784540thank you for the thoughtful response, i appreciate it and will ignore the last line lol. i’m in my early 20s so hopefully not too old for sweet scents.
