those sports watches look pretty good, but I dislike exposed screws on the bezel. it's a trend that can't die soon enough, imo.
    >>
    >>18764428
I guess I just tuned those screws out. I like that they're 37mm and have a date at the 6. And that they're $130. But I have a couple watches like that already. I don't have a bullhead but I don't know if I'd want one so big. Then again they might all be big.

Bought a Lenqin just for shits and giggles. It's alright I guess but it loses about a minute per month despite being a quartz watch and the seconds hand never stops at the indices. It's also loud as fuck, I can hear it ticking from across the room

This one is at a better price and the brand looks better than the logo on the SH. What would your issue be with this one?

yes, but poorly, from everything I've seen. their proportions seem worse than usual, I think because they just buy everything off the shelf and kludge it together rather than having anything made to any unified specifications
    >>
    >>18772730
eh, you should probably shoot for smaller, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. a black dial with that thin case/bezel wears pretty small.
    >>
    >>18772733
sheesh this is already 37mm, so maybe 34?

I agree this a 9 or 10mm case thickness , it's really what makes it wearable
    >>
    >>18772734
wow, your wrists are even smaller than mine. I wouldn't agonize over it, if that's already 37 then what're you gonna do, right? although, some male/unisex models do come in women's sizes, which is a good cheat especially if the "male" version is 40+
    >>
    >>18772736
yep 6" on the nose basically , maybe 5.9 if precisely measured.
    >>
    >>18772730
It's close. Is it 39mm? 36mm? I'm pretty sure I have that watch in green (I never wear my Bernies) but I don't remember the size. Does it look that big in the mirror? Sometimes close photos make it look bigger than it appears IRL.
As long as you're happy, but the lugs should not extend the width of the wrist. You have like a quarter inch clearance by the looks of it. Pushing it.

It's not random but it's definitely ahistorical using letters to represent the first syllable of the number

    On this one they put
    1 i for isa
    2 da for dalawa
    10 sa for sampu
    11 la for labing-isa

    Other models they have
    3 ta for tatlo
    6 a for anim
    9 si for siyam
    12 la for labing-dalawa

They can't put 11 and 12, or 4 and 6 on the same design since they'd have the same character

Kind of funny but I gotta respect them committing to the aesthetic

What's your wrist size? Wrist pics always make the watch look bigger because of the lense.

    If you're around 6' / 15cm , 36mm is your sweet spot and you can still check a bit below, 34, 35.

For a diver look at the Citizen EO2020. I think they stopped producing it recently but it should still be on Amazon, chrono24, etc. It's a 36mm solar diver that sizes pretty small. A bit too small for my taste but it's a great option for skelly wrists.

Once upon a time, I knowingly went out to buy counterfeit watches. I was living in a place where fakes were hawked openly by dudes riding up and down the street on bicycles. The first fake I bought was a, "genuine replica, nuclear-powered" Rolex for the equivalent of about $10 USD. It definitely ticked and the thing stopped working after three days. Out of curiosity I went to a souq with a friend to see their "watch guy" who had a way better set-up than the guys on the bike. Well-lit, display pieces, the works. He didn't hide the fact that they were fakes, he just made sure to sell good fakes. I bought two Tag Hauer something or others for about $65 USD. Idk if anyone knew or cared that they were fake but they drew compliments. One of the watches died within half a year and I lost the other in a move. All of this happened a decade ago so I'm wondering if fakes have improved since then

I do feel like buying another watch, but I will spend a little more time shopping for it and then sleep on it or even wait a week.

This Hruodland 36mm auto is a great deal at $113. Other stores want $30 more for it.
Don't need another small seconds watch though.

No more quartz watches for me.
Imagine in about 18 months when my dozens of quartz watches all die. And you can't leave batteries inside once they die, right? They corrode or something?
So I'm going to need to purchase dozens of fucking batteries and learn how to open the back of each watch and change them all.
Or I can pay $20 each to have the jeweler do it.
Collecting quartz watches was a huge mistake. How could I have not thought about all the fucking batteries???
    >>
    >>18785304
    what's the ref on that?
    >>
    >>18785381
    >So I'm going to need to purchase dozens of fucking batteries and learn how to open the back of each watch and change them all
this is not nearly the chore you think it is. a lot of cheap quartz watches have a tiny slot on the back for a jewler's/eyeglasses screwdriver and you pry it and they just pop off. the Casio backs just have 4 little screws in the corners of the back. for the backs that screw down into the case, the univeral tool with a clamp to hold the case are sold as a set for like ten bucks on Ali. then you just read the tiny alphanumeric code on the battery and match it to the ones on the rack at the supermarket. sometimes the main code will be different but there's multiple names for the same battery and the others are also written on the package.
    >>
    >>18785443
Not 100% sure this is the ref
    >>
Do I repaint the dial for it to say Penis?
    >>
    >>18785538
It'll ruin the sunburst. You're not equipped to do that anyway.
    >>
    >>18785537
it's tricky looking these zeniths up. that serial number isn't a ref, but looks like it was used in the mid 70-80s, although maybe the case backs had different serial years than the movements. seems unlikely but possible.
the model name I found for zenith squares was "respirator" but the only info from a watch nerd post said zenith also made non-respirator squares, also. the respirator models had a compressable seal around the crystal that improved under depth pressure but didn't seal well under normal pressures, apparently.
they're all really cool looking but yours is one of the better ones imo.
please post any info you can get from the guy doing the service.
    >>
    >>18785656
Ah If youre interested in the history, then I can tell you: Its a pre-respirator essentially its a model the looked almost exactly like the later respirator model, like the one that was worn by JFK, except mine has a Zenith modified 2850 manual wind, the respirator has an automatic movement and was 2 mm larger on the width
    >>
    >>18785691
I'd pick a manual anyway since I'm a tradie and can't daily something that nice. that's a better option.
so they just call them "zenith squares" or is there a name for them?

    (my) unpopular opinions:
    manual > automatic
central seconds hand > small seconds
painted hour markers > applied markers
    white dial > black dial
    unusual lugs > clean lugs
    long lugs > small lugs

I'm really digging these 34mm Thorns they have. And they come with a really cool tool-less link removal system on the bracelet.
Might drop $180 on one. I like the blue also. Really dig the rectangular thingy on the second hand.

    >Put tension ring inside crystal
    >Crystal impossible to get perfectly flush with the ring inside
    >Only attempts where it did had the ring pop out
    >Already cracked 1 of the replacement crystals
Is there something I'm missing here? It shouldn't be THAT hard to pop back in a new crystal with the retaining ring. I'm using one of those center screw watch presses, but that's still not getting the job done. Either I'm not getting it totally right or someone's lying about all Vostoks using the same crystal
    >>
    >>18788859
    Have you tried contacting meranom?
    >>
    >>18788866
Not yet. Right now I'm just comparing the OEM and the first cracked replacement. They seem to be identical, so my guess is that I'm not seating the ring deep enough into the crystal for proper mounting.
    >>
    >>18788869
Fuck me I'm retarded, I just remembered one edge of the ring wasn't sitting exactly up against the internal notch every crystal has to properly seat the ring, and this is most definitely why one edge of the crystal kept sticking out no matter what.
I need to master seating the ring perfectly before I can do this again.

Meranom jacked up the prices for everything. Also meranom newbs don't know that just because something isn't on the site anymore doesn't mean it won't come back. It might take a million years but it will come back eventually. Except the 020 case. That's never coming back.
