>>11595957>>11595958I love clownification. It would be nice if more artists drew it. Very few seem to really get it.
>>11595970the turn-off for me is that most of them gain giant red lips in the processlike, yeah, i get that's part of clown makeup usually, but im still not a fan
>>11596168There's a lot of different directions you can go in to make a clown costume that works. There has to be some intent with it though, and a lot of artists seem to just vomit as many bright colors and patterns as they can, creating a horrible outfit. Clowns shouldn't get to break the rules about colors and shapes that all other art has to follow. There also doesn't seem to be much consensus on what being a clown is about. Like, with maids, all maid characters and stories are centered on serving their master. All nurse characters center on caring for others. Sometimes they subvert the role, but everyone still knows what it's about. Clowns are all of the place though, getting pulled in different directions, and sometimes drawn on commission by artists who don't care about clowns. So you get a whole range, where clownification is treated like brain drain but with extra laughter, or clownification where it treats clowns as if they're all evil minibosses or fodder minions. In western art, you often get the horror clown, and those are universally awful. In my opinion, the best clown stuff is about the performance. A clown should be outgoing, confident to the point of shamelessness, have impressive talents, and love being the center of attention. The true heart of a clown is wanting to bring joy to people, whether that's through laughter or anything else. Obviously not all clowns have all those traits, especially someone who just got transformed, but it should push them towards those traits. So clown tf doesn't do much for me when the clown starts laughing for no reasons or starts telling lame jokes. If they act mean spirited it ruins it for me. Doing things for only their own amusement or only being the butt of the joke goes against what I find attractive about clowns too.Of the artists who've done clown girls that I like, most have only drawn a few, so it's always nice to find more. Everyone has seen Menma of course though.
>>11596253you do have a point; even in the rare bits where ive seen this stuff with text they dont really describe them doing anything clown-like, or even showman-likeyou'd think some people would get mileage out of girls suddenly feeling the urge to masturbate (with a balloon dildo or something idk) in front of an audience in a perverse form of being a consummate entertainer, but nah
>>11596287You kind of need to get everything right to make it work, and there aren't popular clown characters to draw inspiration from. Good fiction is built on the shoulders of giants, and clowns are niche enough that artists are stuck trying to do it from scratch. Things have gotten a bit better though. Ruche from the Heavy Knight Exile anime is extremely cute. Despite the costume, she isn't getting all the clown archtype points that I would like her to. The anime is also pretty mid. It still beats Geiru and the other murder clowns that are everywhere though.

>>11596821I was just sharing a tf I liked friendo
>>11596910There's no need to get defensive over me seething. I understand my hate for Harley is a me problem. I still hate her though. I don't understand why she's so popular, it's bad enough that she's a constant in /aco/ clown threads, I don't want to see her here too. I could at least understand a little if they stuck with the original design, but they always use the trashier modern ones. Absolute blight of a character.
>>11596946I think the issue with Harley is that as soon as she stops being with the joker it just defeats the point and wouldn't make much sense for her to keep the clown gimmick, I she doesn't really work as a heroine either given she did some pretty bad stuff
