If you were on the planet and in awe of the incomplete shapes you could make out in the atmosphere the size sense kicks in. The Giant Girl Club games have a good scene or two depicting this for example.

This is pushed even further when you notice that not even her entire foot fits into the frame, so the foot itself feels larger. Sure the tiny is extra fucking small, but he's also near the bottom of the image (and mostly in shadow). Generally, closer to the bottom means "weaker" and people in shadow CAN mean "less important." These aren't hard and fast rules mind you, more like visual tropes. Something in shadow could also easily mean "threatening" depending on the surrounding context.You'd be surprised just how far composition goes into making you feel something when you look at a piece of art.
