I miss 22 episode seasons
I miss weekly releases
I miss season gaps of just a year if not less
I miss having shows all in one package
I miss feel good sitcoms
I miss scheduling my day to watch a new episode
I miss standing by the water cooler to discuss said episode the day after
Streaming and YouTube destroyed all of that and what we have now are either streaming shows that have 8 episode seasons, multi year gaps and get canned after 2 seasons or indie shows that take a year to release a single episode.
How do we bring it back?

So?

We can't go back, no one will pay for art the way they used to again, it's become too trivial to pay nothing and get digestable slop.

Once capitalism fully collapses in like 50 years, maybe.

Honestly I don't miss cable, I just miss bumpers. I can just watch random shit like cable on the Fast channels.

So many old Saturday Morning Cartoons are just dumped straight on youtube nowadays, even with commercial breaks

Start a network with curated cartoons and a built in audience.
Merch sales and cheap advertisement space are required.
From there it's a matter of which shows can be used as background noise and have new shows that are network only with no leaks or streaming options till months after the show has completed.

Anime works like that and is doing moderately well. If it ends up on pirate streaming networks then that's okay. Because it will act as advertisement for the network and if the show/movie is tied intimately to a brand it can act as a brand ambassador to watchers.

I would also attempt to create shows that are on par with viral shorts from streaming days and pay accordingly. Allowing streamers/content makers who can produce shows or just good advertisements to get a set fee for creating an ad for the network.

Small creators on YouTube have made more stuff to watch then I ever had on cable, and I can block adds and download them if I like for free. Watching big companies flounder and fail to adapt is just icing on the cake. Entertainment is a market like anything else, adapt or die.
