Some people may complain about shows where you have to watch an episode a hundred times and study the background for hidden lore, but we loved the quality of the animation and the characters so much that we'd watch every episode multiple times even if it hadn't been necessary. It was beautiful and I miss it.

Some things you have be on the look out for and spot, or you have to put the dots together and connect things the series shows you. Pretty much everything, with exception of the gags, are shown to you with some kind of intent. Yes, the best way to experience the show was back when it was coming out so you could take part in the discussion after each episode and follow along with each new development. But it's not THAT complicated, just don't binge watch through it all in one go - pay attention and stop to look at things. Maybe a couple rewatches and you'll spot loads of stuff you didn't see before.
