> The absolute last thing goth-girl Raven and her vampire boyfriend, Alexander, need is another hitch in their nighttime-only romance, but dark trouble hovers on the horizon when Raven and Alexander discover four freshly dug graves filled with empty coffins. When a crew of sketchy vampires takes up residence in Dullsville's lonely graveyard, Alexander finds this motley bunch led by his very own blood-sucking cousin, Claude Sterling. Shocking! Claude and his creepy crew can only spell out more problems for the pair, especially when Raven finds them in daylight in the very last place she could ever imagine. What could Claude and his invaders be doing or searching for in Dullsville? For those that don't know, Vampire Kisses was a book series released from 2003 to 2013, which makes this series actually pre-date Twilight by two years (the first book was actually written in 1997 and released in parts of Europe in 1998 but for some reason wouldn't be released in America in 2003). Even though I know YA literature is generally shit, I actually enjoyed the books. They're flawed and have issues, but I really like the main character Raven, and unlike Twilight her romance with her vampire boyfriend is pretty sweet. There's nine books in the series, but they're all fairly quick reads, so if you wanted to check it out it's not a big time commitmentVampire Kisses is a spinoff of the series, taking place between the sixth and seventh book, with the first two volumes having art by Rem (River City Girls, Devil's Candy). There's three volumes total - however, there's a fourth volume that really is connected to the main plot of the first three and frankly I don't think it's worth story timing (it's also not available to download online)I'll also provide some details on some events and characters in the seriesWithout further ado, let's get started

>>156124862In the series, Alex left town twice due to a feud his family had with another in Transylvania. Basically, he was betrothed to a girl named from another family who was a half-vampire he hardly knew, and left before they could be boded together (which is basically a Vampire version of a wedding where you go to a cemetary or any place with dead bodies, drink some champaign from a goblet and then bite the person you want to bond your sould with for eternity). The brother of said girl essentially follows him to America, and soon the girl and the youngest sibling also arrive, and books 2-4 involve dealing with them.

Afterwards she fled to America, where she gave birth to Alex's father. There is a plot hole in the original book where Alex's father is a full vampire and not half, but there's a possible explanation for why coming up

At the start of the series she's extremely shy and doesn't really have much of a back bone, but as the series progress she grows one and becomes more popular with her other class mates. Raven does care a lot for Becky in the original books, but for some reason she seems a bit more annoyed with her at times.

Isnt this a Manga?
>>156127101There is no such thing as OEL "manga." Tokyopop has learned the hard way that anime and manga purists don't buy fake anime and manga from western authors. That's not to say I don't like Bizenghast or I Luv Halloween, they are fun reads that sadly were mismarketed as manga from Tokyopop instead of just western comics. Those were as "manga" as Megatokyo and Sexy Losers.

>>156134596The guy on the bottom is Trevor. He doesn't really factor into the plot until Volume 3, but in the main series he's pretty much Raven's rival who have known each other since Kindergarten. Their relationahip is essentially teenage Calvin and Susie, except swap their social standing (also Susie's a goth). There's some hidden sexual tension that goes on between them in the series, where Trevor's pretty much a tsundere for Raven, while Raven also has a tiny bit of underlying feelings for him (although she never cheats on Alexander with him)

>>156134734These two are Raven's brother Billy and his best friend Henry. They're both nerdy kids who are into Math and Science, and also like typical nerd stuff like Star Wars and Star Trek. Raven teases Billy for his nerdy hobbies and gets annoyed by him, but she does love and care for him deep down. The fourth book involves Raven trying to stop a vampire kid from turning her brother and friend, while the ninth has Billy bonding with Alexander's sister
>>156134836
>>156134850
>>156134863Here are Raven's parents, and the last characters we'll see that are regular characters in the series. They're former hippies who raised Raven in a hippy environment until she was 4. She was extremely close to them as a child, and used to watch monster movies with her dad all the time, but when her brother was born, they became busy taking care of him, which left Raven alone to watch vampire movies at night, which is where her vampire obsession comes from. They also eventually conform to the rest of the town, which Raven slightly resents. Despite sometimes venting about her parents being uncool, she's generally pretty respectful to them and loves them regardless

Uh. Excuse me. Stick to you're own board, weeb! >>>/a/ -------->-___->>156127101Yeah. Comics are manga are comics. TokyoPop tried to scam people by calling cheaper American comics as "manga". It's all manga. It's all comics. The real issue is if it's any good and if you like it.
