Why did Matt Hagen become so big in TNBA?
>>156115863He stopped caring about his weak human self and embraced his power for everything it was worth, especially since his exposure to that chemical runoff pretty much made him more powerful.
For you
>>156115863He was bulking so he could make more little girls.
I never thought it was supposed to be Matt Hagen at all, it's just another disguise he's using. Batman did not recognize him, he didn't approach him like Clayface immediately until he tested mud on the crime scene, he's treated as an unknown perp before then.
>>156116254At least he's happy again>>156116457I thought of it as Matt assuming a newer form that Batman hadn't seen yet
>>156116457>>156116602To be fair, Clayface was still presumed dead after dissolving in the rain during Mudslide (one of the few continuity carryovers from the original BTAS). Batman wouldn't have any reason to think it was really him at first glance.
>>156116661He would find it suspicious at least if someone that looked like former movie star Matt Hagen appeared
>>156115863Lol I dunno
>>156116390All that mass has to come from somewhere.
>>156116457It wouldn't make for a good disguise considering how unnaturally massive he was
>>156115863Why did he give himself a widow's peak?
>>156115863Bruce Timm said fuck it, you're Ron Pearlman now and Ron wanted to be big enough so that he could say "lil Donnie" because he is physically larger.
>>156118733Probably easier to maintain that shape for long periods of time considering it's closer in stature to his Clayface form.
>>156119688But wouldn't it be easier to instead keep taking different forms unless this was his main human form?
>>156119898I don't think he was really caring about keeping a low profile beyond not looking like Clayface. His priority was simply getting back his rogue piece of mass because he underestimated his range of remote control over it.
>>156120621I think you could argue that if he doesn't care about taking on another human form and has a harder time doing so then this could count as main human form at the time
>>156119898There's no indication he kept this form for a long period of time. He uses it once in this episode and that's about it. He just needed to appear as a big father-like guy who could take Annie back in and maybe intimidate Robin a little.
>>156119420Because dudes cared less about stopping balding back then
>>156121063He robbed three stores in this form before that so it's not like he only had it for a little bit
>>156119520>>156121176Based
>>156115863To height mog everyone around him
>>156121247why does a man made of clay who doesnt need to eat, breath or whatever, need to rob stores for money?
>>156124527His mind completely fractured after the events of Mudslide which led to him fully giving up his humanity and also he still needs money to not have to live on the streets of Gotham
>>156115863that stubble kinda sexy ngl...
>>156126219Even with a broken psyche Clayface knows what's up
>>156119520*Ron Perlman
>>156126887Clayface and Amethyst share some similarities when you think about it
>>156115863Real answer: Because TNBA is its own separate continuity and not actually the sequel to BTAS. The sooner you accept this the sooner you'll stop comparing the two and just enjoy it for what it is. Nasty-ass warts and all.
>>156127144In that case would TAS or TNBA be part of the DCAU?
>>156127190TNBA only. It was made alongside Superman TAS and the crossovers between them ultimately shaped the greater DCAU.
>>156127736TAS would still have to be canon to some extend though considering this episode directly references Clayface's last appearance in that
>>156128221They really only cherry-picked the bits of TAS that they wanted to keep canon (Clayface, Mr. Freeze) and ignored the rest. They especially disregarded Zatanna's TAS appearance where she had no actual magic and was simply a sleight-of-hand performer.
>>156128257Maybe only those episodes could count as canon then
>>156115863So he could be more imposing
>>156115863He just felt like it
>>156129824Why would he want to be more imposing?
>>156132346You wouldn't want to cross the dark alleys of Gotham as a scrawny guy especially if you wanted to make some cash along the way
>>156115863He's a big star
>>156128257>>156128311That's dumb and overcomplicated, it's easier to just view it as BTAS is canon to TNBA but TNBA isn't necessarily canon to BTAS. Visual changes are just artistic license for the most part and personality changes are mainly just the characters getting more obsessive
>>156134625I don't know this seems more complicated to me
>>156115863Huh? we never saw Hagen in TNBA did we?
>>156119420widow's peak is the most masculine hairline shape.>>156121176huh? balding is the reverse, the middle of your forehead goes UP>>156126887wasn't he always?
>>156128257zatanna has always been both a stage and real magician, that's her schtick
>>156135296I thought picrel is Hagen's new form or whatever Hagen became but maybe after Mudslide Hagen stopped being a thing>>156135313>widow's peak is the most masculine hairline shape. The more noticeable the more masculine it is?
