Adventure Time should have been more like Simon & Marcy.
>>156115296And fuck up the series' tone even more?
>>156115309Simon & Marcy and I Remember You were the best episodes and I'm tired of anti-lorefags who were never fans of Adventure Time to begin with.

Bump
We're not allowed to acknowledge that AT has some good loreslop. Not all of it, but a fair bit.

>>156115296I disagree. A big part of what made Adventure Time so cool was the VARIETY of stories it could tell; the Simon & Marcy subplot was just one part of an endlessly imaginative whole.
>>156116364What are the good parts, and what are the bad?
>>156119733This thread is literally about the best part of AT lore.
>>156115296Adventure Time should have ended with Ward’s run.
>>156115296It's amazing how history is rewritten by autists and contrarians who arent able to move on from a series. I remember back when this episode came out and literally everyone heralded it as the best thing in animation and the start of actually good AT. Before Finn being given all the angst stuff in seasons 4 and 5, the consensus of this website was that he was the worst character in the show.
>>156119990Doesn't matter
>>156119990I think it's one guy look at this >>156120018, literally a schizo/bot reply. Simon & Marcy was the peak of AT.
>>156120161Eat my ass; you'd like it

>>156120305You are crying
>>156115296I Remember You was great but I just don't feel like anything they did with these two afterwards improved on where they left it at the end of that episode. I feel like a lot of adventure time was like that. Nothing was at its most compelling at its end. Most things were most interesting in the first episode where they were really focused on it(as opposed to just one line hints) but before the very fact of focusing on it ceased to seem novel or special. This is why seasons like 3-5 were particularly memorable. All the elements like this are becoming a real part of the stories themselves without yet having been so explored as to be demystified or have to fully stand on the strength of the writing and the on screen events themselves. I remember being way more into Gravity Falls at the time and I think part of that was that the quality of the writing actually increased as more was revealed. The relationship and backstory between the two stans everything was building up to was naratively and emotionally equal to the weight the show had cumulatively placed in it, even if the show lacked some of the more sophisticated artistic and intellectual trappings adventure time kept reaching for

>>156121633>bubbline chads Oxymoron
>>156115296ehh, it was cool to get a glimpse of Ooo just after the apocalypse, but do that too often and it's not cool anymore. I think a large part of what made AT's world interesting was the space left for fans to imagine what happened in between. You gotta keep a little of that mystery sauce.
>>156120983about what? All I did was call it what it was and you got all defensive. why? It's not like anything I said was wrong.

>>156120945simon didn't prevent the solar power, only vampire king.
>>156115296Trying to be more like Simon and Marcy is what killed the novelty of the show in the long run. Seemed like in the later seasons every other episode was an attempt at a melancholy, heartstring pulling artsy episode.

>>156115296Yeah, they should have done more about the two
Seeing this thread made me so mad about what the writer did to these two in F&C. They had Ice King revert to Simon in the finale, and not once after that did the two interact properly, except for that stupid phone call
>>156127439simon mentioned they interacted a lot in the time between the series finale/obsidian and fionna and cake but it didn't matterhe was depressed being simon because he felt out of place, he was a normal guy surrounded by freaks of Ooo and the advanced futuristic humans and didn't fit in anywhereso his life pretty much sucked
>>156127452Yeah, true, his life sucks, but I still want them to show me and not have Simon tell us that he hung out with her
>>156127439I mean, the three of them had a whole subplot to themselves. It wasn't a very good subplot, granted, but there were some fun interactions in there.
>>156127499I didn’t watch season 2, but most of the scenes I saw of them together are mostly Simon talking to PB, and Marceline was just there.
