And still have a soft spot for the show. Its pretty much Monster Inc. but better monster lore and actually scary looking monsters. Horrific even. Would it be safe to say this show kicked off the Newground's artstyle? One little detail I really appreciated was the voice acting and how hard the voice actors went on this show. I miss hearing cartoons who's voice actor can actually "act" and not just using their normal talking voice or trying to mimic anime characters.

Monsters Inc has has conceits that make no fucking sense if you think about it. Has the monster universe ALWAYS relied on screams for electricity? When was this discovered, during the Monster Industrial Revolution? How was the ability to travel to the human universe discovered? How did no one ever notice that laughter is more powerful than screams?

Ahh! Real Monsters is just a simpler, neater premise. The monsters live in OUR world and they scare people because scaring is just what monsters do. Far less complicated.

Also, I love how the monsters themselves didn't believe in ghosts and this led to some genuinely freaky ghost/poltergeist episodes.

I can barely remember any episodes, but I miss it. You don't get cartoons with that kind of atmosphere these days.
