Also, nobody has "taken his place" because Marvel character popularity and prominence has always been a fluid thing. Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor reaching new heights of popularity in the last decade just means that they hit it off with general audiences the same way Wolverine hit it off with general audiences back in the 90s. The only constant is Spider-Man being the company's golden goose.
