It's rumored that the Mephisto event next year will result in a soft reset of 616 that just makes Peter and MJ more similar to their Ultimate 2.0 counterparts and hand-waves continuity issues. If this is so, what are the chances they would use this to fix the two broken Hanks, Pym and McCoy? Is there any other Marvel character that needs a universe reset?
>>156107691>eventHard pass.

>>156107691> Mephisto desk gets reset> Pete and MJ both remember what happened> Peter swings down to talk to MJ> MJ: "Peter..."> Peter puts a finger to her lips, shushing her.> Peter: "Mary Jane a lot has happened these last few days, and a lot of people aren't certain about a lot of things, but one thing I AM certain about is that through it all you've always been my friend, so I went to make sure we stay friends no matter how the world might change. So let's just keep being friends for now and if something ever changes down the line, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it."> MJ: "O.K. Peter."Post yfw

>>156107691You would lose a lot of what makes Hank Pym him if you just reboot without the great deal of continuity that made him interesting in the first place, you would need to get someone to write him a good origin story and have him go through his more important milestones as a character like changing names or creating Ultron, it would be a way to write his mental breakdown as Yellowjacket without the slap but his story is ultimately one of fall and redemption. After all that one would need to actually adress the current problem with Hank, nobody knows what to do with him once he gets redeemed, this is almost a cycle of all his recent stories being all about redeeming himself of something he already got redeemed, the closest he had to a new direction is being a teacher with the Avengers Academy.
>>156108658>you can't retcon or reboot your way out of the stories that damaged a character because you'd lose too many well-regarded stories and too much character development>but we also can't just move on and stop constantly revisiting those stories and rubbing the damage in the readers' faces all the time either because nobody know what else to do with a damaged character
>>156107691>more similarSo not just straight up married?
>>156107691All of the cosmic and magic stuff needs to be rebooted badly
>>156109676And not in a way that blatantly copies another timeline, either
>>156107691>If this is so, what are the chances they would use this to fix the two broken Hanks, Pym and McCoy?thats a good one. stark is one of marvels biggest scumbags and they let him walk around like his shit doesnt stink. theyve had chances to fix things with both, but with pym they let it linger and have others shit talk him into oblivion and mccoy they doubled down on the one thing people didnt want from krakoa. theres no helping them at this point
>>156108730the real problem is when the character becomes iconic when it's damaged and everything before was fuck all and no one cared, when characters stray too much from their original intent they usually have a period of going back to basics, pym never had this stick because his solo act was a such a footnote
Let's have Hank fuse with Ultron again.
>>156111356Make it Jocasta instead
>>156107691>a soft resetgay resets/reboots are only worth shit if you go all in, also it doesn't matter if the same people who created all the problems are still in charge you'll just get the same bullshit again
