In comics and cartoons hypnosis is genuinely one of the most underutilized tropes. It’s always fighting or servants, but where’s the psychological warfare of someone being brainwashed into loving someone they already loved, bringing their true emotions into question
>>156105340Good question
>>156105340It sucks these days mind control is taking a lot of heat. Fuck payment processors.
Is this the thread
>>156107595Why not? I don’t see why it can’t be
>>156105340because the type of hypno stories people want will cause pearl clutching cry bitches to seethe since it's aimed towards females. everyone is fine with poison ivy and male rape victims but hint a female is getting something done to her and oh the tears and fake moral outrage to hell.
>>156105340I think it's a bit datedlike in comics it feels like the sort of gimmicky thing they used to write to justify whatever nonsense has to happen in the current chapter, which is easy to convey in visual media with spiral eyes or whateverso it feels a bit dated nowdays, and alternatively because the people who make decisions now are scared that it'll be fetishistic
Oh look it's my fetish
>>156105340because it's hella lazylike in OP, it takes maybe two panels and 3-4 sentences to have a character do, think, or behave literally however the author wants. it was fine when a comics had little space to work with and had to rely on gimmicks, but there's nothing that can accomplished with hypno that couldn't be better executed by gradual corruption, subtle brainwashing, unreliable narrators, etc. etc.for people that just want to jack they puds then w/e, i get it, but for real people it's just lame
>>156109323It's also a holdover from when cartoons and comics weren't allowed to be as violent. Threatening to hypnotize someone to be your slave is a decent G Rated peril.
>>156110217>Threatening to hypnotize someone to be your slave is a decent G Rated peril.and now hypnosis content is nearly illegal
>>156110227Life, eh?
