Old cartoons should be viewed with CRT filters too it shouldn't just be used for games. The coloring was intended for the scanline effects to blend together and adds a richness to the cartoons not otherwise present.
>>156104444I actually do this and it's comfy. Especially if you get a TV with a built-in DVD/VHS player
How "old" are we talking?
>>156104878The year the media came out typically isn't a secret.
>>156104444Post examples of crt'd cartoons.
>>156104832My CRT is just a TV and the DVD/VCR combo I own is external. Is that a bad thing?
>>156104444You're kind of half right AnonYes this does apply to old cartoons, but only those that used really really old digipaint like that one busted Scooby-Doo scanimate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLMA8w2jrykThese relied on being rendered at such a low resolution (either 480p or 384p) that the TV stopped showing the jaggies or chequerboard pixels. Only a few cartoons were made this way, 1985's The Jetsons and 1988's A Pup Named Scooby Doo come to mind. France had Mimi Cracra which basically demands a CRT so that it doesn't look like complete shitThese are such a rarity that I don't think this is much of a concern until you come across said edge cases

>>156104444agreed. I hauled a 22 inch one from behind a salvation army (they dont take them anymore) specifically for this purpose.
>>156104444>CRT filtersFuck that meme garbage I watch animation on the real CRTsAbsolutely gorgeous, it gets overshadowed by the gaming scene's usage of it but I highly recommend getting one
>>156109752We need to just start fucking replicating actual CRT technology again.
