Lucy is fucking psychotic, Jesus fucking Christ.
Daisy should've stepped in lol, how dare she didn't get her shit wrecked as well.
Sue is this close to surrendering to her White Catess God, you can just feel she wants to submit like the hypocritical cunt she is
>>156087851Without the lightning rod, it is now becoming evident to Sue as the New Mike that Lucy is fucking exhausting
>>156087851>Oh, so it's my fault then. You being late started the entire chain of events, so yeah.
>>156087851fucker beat me too it i failed the captcha twice gdianyone got the Paulo funeral chapter?
McCain lives on
>>156087851...Was all that Lucy glazing on the blog because Taeshi had this loaded in the barrel, knew how bad her fursona would look, and the only solution she could think of was to straight up lie?
>>156087874So she doesn't even read the page comments, then.
>>156087874>Subtly blaming Daisy for not getting her shit rockedShe would’ve just gotten raped like Sue almost did
>>156087875It's looking bad for Sue. Either she admits to being oh so incredibly wrong about Lucy, on every level, or she submits to the tsunami of entitled delusion crashing down on her.
>>156087982Inb4 >Daisy would've liked the attention
At this point it's so unbearably hard to believe that it wraps back around to being unintentional(?) kino. Without her reality distortion aura this cunt would have had her ass beaten by half of the female cast by now
>>156087992it's blatant how easily she walked away before compared to this
>>156087851>You're so self absorbedComing from the bitch who couldn't comprehend that the guy she physically abused and socially ostracized to the point of depression didn't want to be in the same vicinity as her.
>>156087874Daisy being too afraid to do anything after seeing Paulo, Sue, and Mike get laid out is very understandable. She was thirteen and there's nothing that says she would habe gotten worse than what they did. plus she was holding Sue after her hit.
>>156088078*wouldnt have gotten worse
Lucy is about to start slapping
>>156088030She can't dismiss Lucy the same way she did Mike because there is too much ego investment in play. Lucy must be reasoned with. She HAS TO BE reasonable. Otherwise Sue would not have spent so much time trying to find that worthwhile core that surely must be there. Sue just needs to get through to it.She really is Mike 2.0, huh? >>156088036I honestly cannot even guess what Lucy took from that encounter, based on how stupid she was going in and her quick recovery afterward.
>>156088078Daisy would have submitted right away pulled her panties down and placed her hands on the wall pushing her hips out uttering be gentile.
>>156087851>It's your fault I got almost-raped!>>Actually you made some mistakes too>Oh so it's my fault I got almost-raped?Lady don't play the blame game and then get mad you're losing the blame game.
>>156087874"Almost broke my nose" is a really minimizing way to put it.
>>156088256I like how on the last couple of pages, Lucy's expression shows surprise that Sue is actually making counterpoints, followed by bitterness as she comes up with new gotchas to justify her resentment.
SELL SUECOIN NOW!!!!! She's wavering!
>>156088287Gotta minimize the impact on everyone else in support of the thesis that only Lucy's suffering really mattered and her anger isn't neurotic.
>>156088385Sue embodies the mistake of trying to reason with a Lucystan.
Poloshow was more interesting than this
>>156088420Abbey got subverted by Paulo and I see no reason to trust BCB when it comes to Sue.
>>156088439I think this is far more interesting for all the wrong reasons.
>>156088420
>>156088229>Be gentileOy vey
>>156087851>You're so self-absorbed.
>>156087982Daisy and Sue weren't canonically hot back then. Daisy still isn't. They were never at risk. Alejandro only targets the most developed 13 year olds.
>>156088594Lucy is nothing if not a hypocrite. Remember how she reframed her past abusive tendencies as defense mechanisms against the masculine wiles of the nefarious Michael Graycat.
>>156088229Calm down, Taeshi.>You're so self-absorbedShould've fallen headfirst. Mike was too nice during December.>>156088287>"Almost broke my nose" is a really minimizing way to put it.Yeah, Sue got her shit rocked. Alej really didnt like her.
>>156088404The correct answers when dealing with Lucy are either to walk away or wreck her so hard she tries to kill herself again
>>156088705It's not just that Sue got her shit rocked, she ALSO got creeped on, same as Lucy did.
>>156088808>Rape cat picked Lucy over SueProbably the worst mistake he ever made
>>156088808I'm honestly not sure how Sue expected this approach to work out.
>>156088921At 13, your long-term planning can just randomly shit itself.
>>156087851Sue is speedruning the six stages of Mike>she just needs to open up>she's just like this but I'm sure she doesn't mean it, there must be a reason >oh fuck she's just like this>why is she like this>Why is she like this ONLY with me? why am I the problem?>fuck this I'm out
>>156087851>Lucy I don't want to think about that night! I could have gotten seriously hurt!>"You're so self absorbed, making this about yourself"
>>156089000The entire context was extremely short term.
You can just call Lucy a PARASITE and win the entire confrontation.
>>156088921Same way she acts around boys she doesn't like or wants to attract like Paulo:- Make incendiary statement- Assert superiority- Insult intelligence- ???- Fail horribly
Confrontation but the gang runs into Yujiro instead of Alej
>>156089000There's also the fact that if someone's being creepy and invades your personal space, it's rather difficult to not react immediately.Really though, Sue was assuming that these random thugs weren't total psychos, and thus wouldn't be willing to beat up a bunch of literal children over a few bucks. A reasonable assumption, but unfortunately an incorrect one.
>>156089044How upset will the cult be when Lucy is framed as in the right here?
>>156088287Really hoping no one checks the archive to see what actually happened, same reason she hasn't mentioned how Lucy stood still while they were getting beat up
>>156089063>About to call her PARASITE>Word doesn't come out>Lucy stares at you>Gives you a smug grin>"Cat got your tongue?"Don't underestimate the power of Lucyspace, anon.
>>156089078Mike Prime sweeps.
>>156089018Lucy is projecting Mike onto Sue like Mike was apparently doing to James. Add that to the list of blog-exclusive sins of Mike's that are actually Lucy's.>>156088287Yeah she got spiked into the ground like a football, I would have led with that.
>>156089079Considering said thugs were holding up said children in the first place, having cornered them in an alleyway and showing zero hesitation about any of this? No, this was incredibly stupid on her part. Negotiating with your mugger in the first place is a dumb move because there are too many unknowns. Sue went pants on head retarded by daring to insult them on top of that.
>>156089078Yujiro rapes the girls and the boys who are also girls in his eyes
>>156088808Well, she didn't get pinned down and groped. But the sexually violent implication was still there. She just slapped his hand away immediately, and so he resorted to anger sooner.
>>156089123I'm pretty sure this is just Lucy's standard operating procedure when it comes to anyone she's got a problem with.
>>156088632Alepedo was acting “nice” with Sue before she slapped his hand away. Even if they’re not hot that won’t matter to a kid diddler
>>156089078Who is this yugiyoh and why would he be in BCB
ALL RISE FOR THE WHITECAT NATIONAL ANTHEMhttps://youtu.be/x4ZIOmttrVE?is=IeX-5rjYneNzIgNr
>>156087851I fucking love how she has to bring up the grade, how she has to make sure Sue knows she never cared to make that trip and it's all on everyone else, like it's her fault because Sue should have just been a morose who-gives-a-shit like her and then nothing would have happened, but they only got into it because Sue was only thinking about herself. I want you, the reader, to let this logic into your heart and see how insane you have to be to say "I didn't even want to dance" because you accepted to go to a party with your friends and got mugged for going through a dark alley
How is this going to get completely fucked up and leave Sue defeated while Lucy walks off triumphant?
>>156089078Yujiro wouldnt go out of his way to pick on children unless maybe if it was fight related. If they started shit with him they'd be dead
>>156087851I gotta say, it's actually refreshing and interesting that someone is even touching one of Lucy's main flaws that are constantly being ignored or swept under the rug, that she cares for no one but herself and that she actually hates everyone. Maybe this time it'll stick since it's not being told to the orange memory hole with legs
>>156087851Oh fuck, she's actually pushing back with arguments instead of folding like wet paper! We're so screwed!Quickly Lucy, you're gonna have to accept responsability at this rate! You NEED to distort now before she says anything else!
>>156089319The only way I can see is what someone suggested last thread where she somehow passes the buck to Mike somehow if/when Sue brings that up for why Lucy is actually so insane all the time. Lucy agrees, that satisfies Sue, Mike bad, Lucy has about 5 seconds of "oh no what have I done?" before shrugging and leaving
>>156087851>Does that matter to you?!No, I don't think it does to Lucy. Alejandro could've gutted or raped everyone and white cat wouldn't have even flinched.
>>156089319There's only one way it can.At least your mother fucking loves you enough to pick us up from the ghetto
>>156089058>The entire context was extremely short-term.Not when facing a grown-ass man trying to mug you; it ain't. You need to think of what he is gonna do to your face or, if he is tough, below your neck stuff. More surprisingly, no one needed an actual hospital after the beating.
>>156089344Shut up Carmen!
>>156089366She'd have cared to some degree if it was Mike but thats about it and only in the sense that he is her go to childhood chew toy
>>156089319In the comic: it won't, Sue will hit her limit because Lucy is not the kind of person to stop attacking as we saw when she sucker kicked Mike. Sue will leave the table and Paulo will make some dumb "about time" joke about it as Lucy keeps boiling in her own tarIn the side material: Lucy good Sue bad, follow my blog for a list of Sue war crimes and off panel offenses :)
>>156089319Sues ego will be shattered andd Lucyspace will takeover making Sue finally submit
>>156089386That is entirely short term because it is weighing immediate consequences. Sue demonstrated all the survival instincts of a metaphorical dodo bird.
>>156089319Sue is about to get a nosebleed from Lucy.
>>156089344>Lucy distorts>Sue attains EGO>Random Mili song intensifies
>>156089414Where could Sue even go, Abbey's table? She's cultivated very few outside relationships and Stacy is not available.
>>156089437Nonsense. She is getting her leg broken again
>>156089453Gamer table. Sue, Amaya, Abbey, Mike. Stacy would be invited but would ignore them completely.
Who would be the better wife? Sue or AMAYA :D? What about Mistress?
>>156089507Mike ain't gonna be there and they only meet up for guild stuff, not every lunch period. Abbey is more often at his own table, so it's just her and Amaya.
>>156089522Depends what you are looking for. Though Amaya would be a freak in bed while Sue would be a total sub
>>156089522They're both wife material.
Someone really just needs to ask Lucy the question that's needed to be asked since day one: does Lucy even LIKE any of them?
>>156089532I mean, not like she can't hang out with Abbey (and Jasmine) and Amaya. Haley is too much of a cunt to let Mike sit at the table. What could such an arrangement allow for character development between the siblings? Yes, then no.
>>156089593She has already said none of them are her friends. The actual golden question is: "Why did you REALLY come back?"
>>156089597I figure Haley's bitterness toward Mike would either exacerbate Sue's own or get her to second guess it, depending on the ratio of condescension to vitriol.
>>156089593Lucy has given that answer, many times. The answer is no.
>>156089453She's still a drama club nerd, so she could have more friendships going on, also Amaya will follow and make sure she's not alone. If anything I'm excited for a possible verbal smackdown if her getting David to apologize to Sue is any indication
>>156087851Lucky is a dumb bitch. This is like Gohan WHINING to Krillin about why he didn't stop Perfect Cell. Sue has not fought seriously a day in her life. You and Mike are practicing Martial arts after school and beating the shit out of each other. If Lucy needed SUE of all people to save her, she needs to jump off a taller building next time. Fuck this comic.
>>156089730Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't David just get awkward and run off rather than apologizing?
>>156089593>You just want my approval. How selfish of you. Stop using me to make yourself feel better
>>156087851Lucy's reaction to her traumatic experiences has been to become bitter and insane, engaging in paranoid fantasies and abusive selfishness. Meanwhile Sue demonstrates that adversity can foster hope, and resilience.
>>156089319It always ends in Mike Bad even when it reasonably shouldn't. Then again, Lucy threw reason out the window a long time ago.
>>156089764I remember it didn't really pan out but he did try to say nice things about it, the important part was that Amaya pressured him so much even James was surprised she went that hard on David
>>156089720I know people more often shitpost about the prospect for fun, but Lucy might actually be satisified if she became Al's bitch based on these.
>>156089806Any timeline in which Lucy ends up satisfied is going to be a total disaster for at least one person, and probably more.
>>156089867The Alejandro timeline "solves" that problem by making is so that the person for whom it is a disaster is Lucy herself. And her family, but they're a weird incest clan, so whatever.
>>156089720
>>156089806It's funny how much it would make Lucy seethe that her ideal life is being a housewife like her mom which she also dislikes
>>156090076>which she also dislikesLucy doesnt fucking know what she likes/dislikes.
>>156087874>Sue wasn't Daisy, she did try to help LOLETaeshi what the fuck? Do I have to explain the context of your own comic to you?THEY WERE KIDS. SHE WAS JUST A GIRL. AGAINST ADULTS. What the fuck she wanted her to do?Man I swear, I try not to rage against the author, but Taeshi just says shit all the time.
>>156087851I like how you can tell Lucy is thinking of her next one liner because she didn't expect to get this far
>>156090188That's because the conversation usually either bends in her favor (by shouting down the other person) or she hits the other person and says bullshit.
>>156090188
>>156087851>Distorts the fuck out:Lucy,Paulo, David, James, Augustus>Unstable EGO, could go either way:Mike, Daisy>Completed EGO:Abbey, Jasmine, Sue, Amiya :)
>>156089720>>156089593This would be fine if the story did not insist on the angle that Lucy is right. If Lucy suffered for her words and actions it would be actually kind of interesting. This chapter, with Sue acting the way she is, gives a small portion of hope that things might start to change, and the Lucy will be forced down of her high horse.
>>156090294What about McCain?
>>156090357Already dissolved into the light.
>>156089321>>156089078>Yujiro after Lucy characteristically antagonizes him and Sue desperately tries to claw his hand from around Lucy's neck
>>156090432At least it means Lucy's family will have a respectable male in it.
I believe in the reckoning
>>156090432Yujiro actually talks about his stance on these sorts of things from what I recall. To him, starting shit with him is essentially the same as a retard trying to pick a fight with a tsunami or set off a nuclear warhead on themselves. Them dying is just obvious and he doesnt feel bad about it.
>>156089570Sue has "reads smut" energy, might even write shitty smut fics herself. She's a writer after all. She's a total sub but she'd want to experiment.Amaya is probably not as kinky, she just doesn't have that energy.>>156089583Amaya making Sue stare down her they/thussy to establish dominance
The question that will never get answered: if she hates everyone so much and doesn't want to be around them that badly, then WHY THE FUCK DID SHE COME BACK?
>>156090633I swear someone has asked this before in the comic.
Man...every time these kids walk home it seems some kind of Lucy argument happens
>>156090659I think Paulo did and she just brushed it off rather than give an actual answer
>>156090659She didn't answer the question though
>>156090633As much as it sucks, the answer is: Mike
>>156090505Watch Sue get blown the fuck out and abandoned, then resolve through her tears to save Lucy from herself, having learned fuck all from this experience.
>>156090706>>156087851Do you think...in some small way, she is trying to prove Mike wrong...only to keep making him right
>>156090224
>>156090624Sue has sexy lingerie and micro bikinis that she only wears before sleeping and then sticks to a shoebox under her bed
>>156090633Betting no one at the other school were willing to put up with her bullshit, since they haven't known her since childhood
>>156090633Mike. That's literally it.
>>156090793In her own head I imagine she came back to "prove him wrong and face her fears" combined with whatever shit show happened with the Mystery Boy. Though at the rate she is going she is just going to pull a self fulfilling prophecy where she ends up "abandoned" just like Mike said she'd be. Only this abandonment will be the result of doing literally everything she can to push them all away rather than them preferring Mike
>>156090633There is no in-universe reason, Taeshi has outright said as much. Taeshi just brought Lucy back by popular demand, she didn't think about "why".
>>156089593Honestly I think she DID like this at some point. Unless im wrong, her hatred of them didn't start until Mike started avoiding her and went full blast after she returned from trying to kill herself.
>>156090633The kids at the other school called her a stupid cunt to her face because they aren't under her mind control
>>156090633Taeshi didn't have a good reason until recently. probably a mix of the mystery boy incident and wanting to get back at Mike. I think things would have gone a lot differently from her return if Augustus wasn't around. As for why she came back to the table for LitS?Well, like the day after EF showed us, Lucy is all or nothing and can't think two steps ahead of herself. She returned to the table because she wanted Mike punished for the letter bullshit. But now that the adrenalin from the moment has died down, she's stuck with a bunch of people she doesn't like and had to cope by saying it was all for Augustus.
>>156090943She is BPD, so her affection is all over the place. Sometimes she is seen as being friendly to them, other times she is indifferent or even hostile.Again, all of this would be fine if not for the fact that the story insists that this behavior of hers is right, when it isn't.
>Tae didn't have a reason for bringing Lucy backoh my god was she really planning on Lucy never coming back and then changed her mind?
>>156090633There was a boy that Lucy's mom didn't want her to see. Wonder if he wore a bandana
>>156090831She buys them but feels too embarrassed to wear them after trying them on so she just stuffs them in the back of a drawer>>156091085The original plan was to end on that page where Mike leans against a wall after finding out Lucy tried to kill herself. Then the comic was supposed to end at the end of the current school year. Now the story has been made longer again. I bet we'll get college BCB at some point
>>156091090How is Lucy this shitty at lying when she does it constantly?
>>156091090>Other school had Mike 1.5>However unlike Mike and thanks to the power of Offscreen where Lucyspace is powerless, Mike 1.5 simply told Lucy to fuck off in record time when she started pulling her shit>This is combined with the npcs of the new school similarly disliking her attitude or otherwise ignoring her>This triggered her and she needed to flee back to familiar ground
>>156091204Because she's very dumb.
>>156091221I'm almost certain it will actually be another excuse to feel sorry for Lucy. The boy used her latching tendencies against her, boo hoo hoo. Sure it makes her parents taking in Augustus make even less sense than before but don't think about it too hard. Taeshi sure wouldn't have.
>>156091090>>156091221>>156091245All I ask is that for once Lucy is painted as being clearly and undeniably in the wrong, and suffer the consequences for it, instead of the story warping itself to accommodate her bullshit. That's all I ask.For example, in the case of this boy situation in her other school, I sincerely hope it doesn't end up being "OOH IT WAS ALL THEIR FAULT! NOT MINE! I NEVER WANTED THIS!".I want the story to at least try not to paint her and being right all the time just once.
>>156091090>Lucy's aunt kept catching Alejandro crawling through her window late at night >Lies to Lucy's mom that the guy smoking and drinking post coitus with her daughter was "some boy"I can see it
>>156087874I still say this is only round 1Round 2 will be Lucy blaming Sue for her own suicide attempt
>>156091377>Accountability Buddy is actually Lucy pinning the suicide blame onto Sue as wellShe'd really be Mike 2.0
>>156091118Sue tries to "suck" on a banana and almost accidentally chokes herself to death
>>156090633It's hinted at that she was forced by her family to come back after an off-screen disaster with another guy at another school, which may actually explain a lot more than previously known>"I never wanted this" translates to "I never wanted to come back"Roseville does genuine psychic damage to her but at the same time she's proven she can't be trusted to not make the same mistakes in a new environment, so her parents brought her back to where they at least know what to look out for
>>156091377I know what you mean but it reads like Lucy is going to "suicide" Sue
>>156091396>She'd really be Mike 2.0> Apparently, the reason Lucy hates Sue is that she reminds Lucy of Mike, but Sue has a vagina. It all makes sense.
>>156091488Lucy IS a huge misogynist, so that tracks.
>>156091221I like the idea that Lucy started the new school with casts and other medical things since she was just recovering from a suicide attempt and the lack of focus on her voluptuousness made her lower her guard and distrust, and things only got bad when she recovered
>>156091085Lucy was always gonna come back. There was just no exact time frame given. She brought her back when she did due to fan demand and as a mental thing. She had lucy jump because Taeshi herself was in a bad place so bringing her back and having her "Girlboss" was her "Correcting a weakness"
Strange, you think Lucy would have addressed the important point that Sue brought up last page!
>>156087891We got a description of it, and a panel or two.
>>156088921She was hoping Alej was all bark with no bite.
>>156092125okay so sudden make Lucy have a baby bump next page
Sue has shown signs of true vision; she is close to awakening.
>>156092608>Sue looks at Lucy with old Mike's eyes of scorn>Suddenly Lucy starts feeling sexual attraction to Sue
>>156092608It's too much to hope for, but imagine if Lucy finally pushed too hard and a thoroughly disgusted Sue says she finally understands why Mike gave up on her.
>>156092608She now bears the heavy mantle of Mike
>latest Taeshi cope post says Sue is inherently self absorbed because she's trying to force her back to the tableHow is Sue guilty of this when it was completely David's idea and Lucy agreed
>>156093319>David's idea and Lucy agreedUh cause Sue welcomed her back and was happy she was there? I don't know man.
>>156093319Lucy usually spergs out in PTSD when someone grabs her shoulders, but when David did it to convince her to come back to the table, she just blushed.I think she wants him to murder her with his dick
>>156093319Maybe she gets off on telling blatant lies and indulging in Lucy's delusions in front of a live studio audience.
>>156090633The answer is simple. Lucy is the author's self insert, and the story of how the most toxic relationship in existence is really a OTP can't continue without her. Plus, fans wanted her back! (No we didn't.)In reality, there is no reason. All we know is "something" happened with "another boy" at the other school. So her mom made her come back. As to what that is is Taeshi's "big tease" (aka she has no idea and it'll take at least 10yrs for her to finally think of something). That's what makes this whole thing such a clown show. If Lucy truly is this resentful and this triggered, there's no legitimate reason for her to come back and go to the same school, especially after attempting suicide because of what happened with Mike - who goes to that school. What's frustrating this storyline could have worked. It's understandable for a victim of sexual assault to lash out from anger and confusion. And blame everyone and everything while they come to terms and accept what happened. But in order for it work, there has to be a reason for it and a way for the audience to make connection between events. But there isn't one. Lucy came back more bitter and meaner than before. Her friends were happy to see her, supportive, and continue to be there for her. Yet, she's being a bitch to them because....reasons ok!? Even though she's willingly hung out with them.It would be one thing if we knew that the boy at the other school made advances on her, thus triggering suppressed memories and therefore, sending her down this spiral. But it's another seeing this happen with no context. And there are more interesting ways to have Lucy be back without actually being back. She could have attend a different school in town or been home schooled without ever telling them she'd been back. Just for them to find out on accident by running into her at the mall or something. At least then there's be something to support her hatred of them.
>>156093319>Trying to force her back to the table Lucy's only at the table because her stupid ass tried so hard to spite Mike. Plus she just wants to know why Lucy's so angry with her despite not doing anything to make her that way. This is basic interaction with people, especially friends.
>>156094053I'm curious as to where any of this "forcing" is supposed to be found. Sue's certainly been trying to ingratiate herself to Lucy, but brown nosing and arm twisting are two very different things.
>>156093272Suffering under such a mantle, many might fall in the face of chaos. But not this one, not today.
>>156094173>"Hey, is something wrong? Is there anything I can do as your friend to help?">"FUCK YOU, YOU'RE MANIPULATING ME! I HATE YOU!"That's it, that's the "forcing". It's also a summary of like half the conversations in BCB.
>>156093319Either Taeshi is shit posting or there is an objective disconnect where the hand that draws has a mind of its own that differs from her
>>156094622>where the hand that draws has a mind of its own that differs from herWe've got that confirmed in lits, anon.
>>156093319>trying to force her back to the tableOh, she's trying to memory hole LitS? Is she that desperate?
>>156093319David can do no wrong.I heavily suspect he is an entity even above Lucy and her cute little Lucyspace. Beyond strength, beyond morality, beyond intellect. He's the Azathoth to Lucy's Cthulhu.
>>156094173She WANTS things from LUCY such as INTENTION and CONTEXT, and only abusive manipulators ask for such things! If Sue was her actual friend she would take the hostility and roll with it and say 'thabk you Lucy might I have another " while she spits in her face because she's spineless and she also doesn't like that. Remember the main point of BCB is that you should love your abusers and calling them out is a no-no!
>>156094622LitS and the artfight descriptions prove this.
>>156091377That'd be hilarious
When are we getting to the part where we find out Lucy's mood swings are because she's pregnant?
You know, if Sue does the impossible and escapes Lucyspace, she's going to hold a grudge. Sue ALWAYS holds a grudge against those who she thinks have wronged her. So what would that look like? Would she tell the rest of the table that Lucy is fucking insane or just sit there and quietly mald while bow cat continues her routine?
I'm so fucking confused by this plotline she's trying to shoehorn in. This was like 20 years ago real time???? And Lucy never brought up being mad at any of them about it?Also did she retcon in that Lucy was raped? From my memory she just got like groped at most
>>156096826Sue, despite her reputation in these threads, rarely picks fights. She still hung out with Mike during and after his sperg era, and still tolerates Paulo's presence despite him being an asshole. There's a rare chance she leaves the table entirely since with Lucy having shown her true colors there's no-one left there except Amaya who's actually Sue's friend. She's on decent terms with Daisy, but they're not close, and everyone else there actively bullies her. But she'll probably just quietly be sad, because Taeshi doesn't write characters as having agency.
>>156096826I don't think Taeshi would dare go for a vengeful Sue, since she's really trying hard to understand where Lucy is coming from right now and defending herself as well, what I can see her doing is telling Lucy that her issues are something she has to deal with herself and when she's ready to stop being a prick she can call her back, and make Sue leave the table out of discomfort
>>156096826>Sue ALWAYS holds a grudge against those who she thinks have wronged herIt's funny you say this like you have any justification for it.
>>156097239There is an entire chapter dedicated to Sue making a fool of herself to show up Stacy, and she trotted out December to shut Mike up for defending Paulo. While I agree she is mostly reactive when it comes to her grudges, Sue has shown herself perfectly capable and willing to go on the offensive. So that possibility cannot be wholly dismissed. While I also think you might be right about the sadness bit, that would be another boring, artificial, Lucyspace-driven outcome. Lucy has done so much to invalidate Sue on multiple levels, and she has refused to forgive over far less.
>>156098140Neither of those were fights Sue STARTED. Stacy ignored her and called her a loser, and Mike contradicted her and called her mean. And I don't get where Sue got the reputation of being unforgiving when every Sue chapter ends with her forgiving someone for bullying her despite them refusing to actually apologize. But yeah, of course it'd be boring and artificial, that's how Taeshi writes. Characters in BCB don't act and react according to internal motives, they follow the track of the current plot. Remember, Mike getting with Sandy, Mike souring on Lucy, and Lucy deciding to confess, ALL were the result of them getting prompted by other characters. More recently (as in "within the last decade"): All in the Mind, Witch Hunt, EF, Double Down, Track Meet, that chapter where Paisy happened, and LitS ALL only happend by virtue of characters getting teleported around to conveniently overhear each other.
>>156095392not really
>>156096744Lucy is for babytrapping into a marriage where she has someone else managing her life so she can't fuck it up (again)
The (good) smelly gamer girl you off-handedly mentioned playing WoW to a single time comes up and hands you this wat do
>>156099252Sue would never approach a boy like that.If approached and told you think she's actually not a nerd and really cool and a good writer, she'll probably put out faster than Rachel when she senses cat dick
>>156087874...What's wrong with this fffffucking cunt of a woman?
>>156097220Taeshi writes by the seat of her pants (barely) and just makes shit up as she goes because her goal is to drag the comic (read: her paycheck) out as long as possible, not to tell any kind of coherent story.
>>156098315>Sue chapter ends with her forgiving someone for bullying her despite them refusing to actually apologize.Lits since she supposedly forgave Mike and made effort to shut Paulo down from asking questions. Sue 100% hopds grudges and that game session njst turned into shitting on Paulo for no reason.
Also their was literally zero reason for that "Paulo sucks" party in the first place. Ends with him just going to get a pityfuck from Rachael. >We don't really focus much on the alternative mix of characters since it gets eclipsed by Paulo existence and such holding a grudge.Instead of something that shows the fun the characters can have together we are given a new reason why the table should just split.A major issue in modern bcb is the characters don't feel like characters and they don't act like friends anymore. One on one, they can sorta be like friends but whenever it's more than 2 it's a drag and higher chance someone is gonna be the lightning rod/scapegoat. That " fun" little ticket chapter was full of that with sue.
>>156087851>you're so self absorbed WHAT THE FUCK IS SHE TALKING ABOOOOOOOOOOOOOUT
>>156100273>Lucy ramblingSue didn't want an event like that negatively impacting lucy' future/life. Lucy responded with indifference and attempted to shift negativity onto Sue motives or something. Lucy of course forgetting that Sue got her ass: slapped, choked then bounced into full metal trashcans.>>156088705For some reason, Sue appears to be downplaying how badly she got beat.
>>156100495Probably to not make Lucy feel as bad in the current moment either due to being obsessed with Lucy for some reason or playing with super kid gloves due to the whole suicide attempt thing
>>156097220Taeshi pulled it out of her ass to try and justify why lucy hates her friends. Because there's no real good reason for her to do so and even this one makes her look crazy
>>156098315If that is the criteria for going on the offensive, the initial objection does not apply because Lucy would have kicked Sue's ego in the balls, repeatedly, thereby giving Sue something to react to. On the point of forgiveness, Sue doesn't often do that. The Stacy incident stands out as an exception, but many anons recognized that as another frustrating artificial outcome and argued that Sue should not have forgiven Stacy under the circumstances. Personally I do think the forgiveness works if Sue recognized she massively overreacted, but it remains an exception nonetheless.
What are Haley's thoughts on Sue? Just a dweeb lame friend of Mike's?
>>156100495In a better written comic where we could grant the author some benefit of the doubt, it would be a result of Sue repressing the incident in her head and so some of the details got sanded down.
>>156100670That has to be the point, right? Lucy holding an objectively insane grudge against people who don't deserve it (for this in particular)? I mean, Sue's being allowed to fire back and poke holes in Lucy's delusion with basic logic. She's not just buying it hook line and sinker like what happened with the letters shit. Could even Taeshi buy into this level of entitlement and hypocrisy?
>>156100853Lucy is a demonstrable exception to the rule, so it's possible that Haley might see Sue as a more mature member of the group. But personally, I doubt it. I'd sooner bet Haley regards Sue as a tryhard snob rather than a cool sarcastic bitch who barely tolerates the people around her.
Lucy is lucky Sue is cool calm and collected, because many people would be pissed the fuck off after hearing shit like 'you're so self centered', specially when they keep giving their heart and limbs for the sake of the person saying so, like Sue does for Lucy.I wonder, what explains Lucy's behavior, being so aggressive? Is it a purely biological thing? Was she coddled and spoiled when she was young, or was it the opposite, with her parents barely interacting with her? Or was it something else entirely?
>>156100947It's hard to say. If it was anyone else writing then I'd assume that was the point myself. But Taeshi's got such a bad case of disconnect between her brain and her hand that I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to frame Sue being in the wrong somehow.
>>156101460Sue is treating Lucy with kid gloves, and I think that has always been Lucy's problem. She's allowed to get away with shit way too often. Then the moment someone gets serious she breaks down like a big baby because she doesn't know how else to handle it.
>>156101622That or she tries to kill herself which doesn't help the issue as then people worry to what degree they can push back before she tries it again.
>>156101644I want to assume that is one reason why Sue is being relatively delicate with Lucy right now, given she's proving herself fundamentally unreasonable and should instead be dismissed outright.
>>156101460>>156101622It's funny how this is a narratively inflicted issue, Lucy's original issue was that none one wanted to play with her because boys rejected girls and girls thought she was too rude/boyish, and the reason she stuck with Mike is that he didn't reject her despite showing he wasn't happy with her forcing herself on him, and this moved to Mike being this perfect mix of kind enough to let her get away with bullshit but not a doormat enough to let her do it without a challenge (evidence: the Abbey Mike Paulo comparison comic) and without a focus on sexual attraction (supposedly Lucy is very self conscious about her body being her main attractive) and that contrasts with how everyone else seems to bend themselves for her more easily or motivated by lust. But this "everyone thinks Lucy is always right" is not really explained in the comic, the only thing you could really say Lucy is reliable for is having no filter, which I guess is considered honesty, but aside from that it's very author enforced. So now you have a character that doesn't like being treated with kid gloves (reason she prefers Augustus to the rest of the table) but whose author refuses to affect with consequences trying to defend herself with passive aggressive one liners because aside from violence she doesnt have any other way to solve arguments
>>156101622>that has always been Lucy's problem. She's allowed to get away with shit way too often.Yeah that's what I think is the problem, too, which is why I wonder if her parents didn't set limits or scold her enough. I really think that might be the case. One of the reasons she likes Mike is because she feels like he is actually real, like he treated her normally, instead of coddling her and her attitude.I believe she is physically more attracted to Paulo, but personality and behavior-wise she only likes (or rather, is obsessed with) Mike. It is also one of the reasons why she approached Augustus, since he used to just be sincere and straightforward with her, calling on her bullshit and all... until he got domesticated.
>>156101741Augustus does handle Lucy with kid gloves, though, which openly annoys her at times. And I assume that Lucy has good PR only because she bottles up her worst tendencies. Look at Sue finding out just how crazy her pet project is turning out to be. Then there is Paulo, who can't sustain an objective viewpoint on Lucy. Daisy doesn't even like Lucy but puts on a cheerful facade. David is not a real character and does not count. James is a complete retard with no respectable standards. Lucy's family gets exasperated with her bullshit but would rather believe she's at least mentally stable because they care for her. Most other characters, though, they just don't know Lucy well enough to realize she needs a good slap or two or twelve across the face.
>>156101790The Mike/Paulo thing being a question of personal wants vs fundamental needs would be interesting if Lucy wasn't an unsolvable tiresome twerp who renders the entire exercise moot.
>>156101867There's also the fact that Mike isn't around. He's not there to absorb the worst of her bullshit nor is he there th take the blame for upsetting her. As far as Lucy's family and friends knew, her entire emotional and mental state was in his hands.
>>156101900I agree. This comic opens up many possibly interesting scenarios, but it always reverts to Lucy or some other character acting stupid.
>>156101867Yeah meant that when Lucy attached herself to him he was actually a character, way before Taeshi turned him into a marketable plushie who can do no wrong>>156101935We have seen what unfiltered Lucy looks like twice now, once with Paulo and once now, the question is if it'll stick or if it'll suffer from Paulo reset syndrome
>>156101900>personal wants vs fundamental needs would be interesting if Lucy wasn't an unsolvable tiresome twerp who renders the entire exercise moot.Especially since Lucy doesn't seem to actually understand her own personal wants or needs & how to treat either. Her relationship with Paulo and Mike was toxic as fuck, and it's less a shock that neither worked and more so why either of them don't rightly hate her guts.>>156101741> that contrasts with how everyone else seems to bend themselves for her more easily or motivated by lust.Really, it's confusing since this explains Paulo. A lot of his behavior with Lucy is focused on her body and sexually harassing her early on, yet she was attracted to him to a degree(according to Taeshi, it seems to vary from desiring attention to a crush & messy, etc.). If you take Lucy's body issues seriously, Alej and Paulo are major reasons such a complex even exists.>>156101935>As far as Lucy's family and friends knew, her entire emotional and mental state was in his hands.Doesn't that make Mike's earlier points about being Lucy's toy accurate? That sounds like very bad friendships and parenting, imo.
>>156102239If not for the suicide attempt guilt chipping away at his memory, I think Mike would have kept on at least disliking Lucy. The girlboss shit would have for sure soured him on her real hard and I don't think EF would have gone down the way it did.
>>156102239I think what doesn't help is that Taeshi keeps turning her issues on and off, she'll have Lucy flirting with Paulo to get what she wants one chapter and reacting with dread to being touched on the shoulder the other, she'll say how content she is with her current life one chapter and the next one walk like the lone survivor of a war having flashbacks while everyone is trying to greet her, etc. Lucy is written with convenience in mind
>>156102479I think a lot of the story would've been better but different, without the suicide attempt, imo. Story-wise, this keeps changing who does and doesnt know, and it's the narrative equivalent of a cyanide tablet to any friendship plots in the story. The only thing it appears to do is give Lucy power over Mike to nullify Lucy's abuse. Lucy actually rarely uses it on anyone but him, which is what made her attempt to use it on Paulo surprising, and it fell flat.
>>156102239>Doesn't that make Mike's earlier points about being Lucy's toy accurate? That sounds like very bad friendships and parenting, imo. This comic never actually proved Mike's issues with her wrong or has lucy try to grow and be better as a person. It just gave her the ultimate argument winner against him with her suicide attempt.
>>156102704>>156102812It's very funny to me how Taeshi has this suicide attempt nuke to hold over Mike's head as the insta-win button yet seems to think the letters nonsense is somehow more important. It being a Season of Mourning analogue really amps up the narm factor.
>>156102704The story itself has not been able to prove Mike wrong, the only character saying the contrary is Lucy excusing her hostility as self defense which doesn't work because she was already like that since kindergarten, that's why the blog is where all the damage control is, it's why we have to be TOLD in complementary material what the comic fails to explain, but it just doesn't fit
>>156102851Because it's a literal nuclear option, she knows if she writes Mike as responsible of the suicide attempt there is no coming back from that, no redemption. Even if you wrote in bold letters that Mike apologized and offered a do over and Lucy had no reason to jump and it really wasn't Mike's responsability to see for her mental health there's no way Taeshi has the skill to make that believable
>>156102953That's a little hard to believe, given Lucy is blaming her friends for her near rape experience right this moment.
>>156093319Vero skipping her pills as alwaysor Lucy is in charge of the blog now
>>156103006Yes and any reader can go back and see that's not so, but the rest of the table don't have years of negative PR behind them
>>156103304Since when does Taeshi acknowledge the effects of long term negative PR?
>>156103233What's this? Evidence? Only manipulators use past events in context to back up their claims :)
>>156103233I've argued before that Lucy has no reason to treat Sue this way.
>>156103639Man, looking back, even back then Taeshi added the little blush on the cheeks on some characters for no contextual reason, though I guess it became even worse on future comics, with characters blushing all the time.
>>156103006Thing with that is, not only is it purely wrong, it's not like she's blaming them for raping her themselves (although it's close).Despite his apologly, regardless of its quality, anybody would chain "Mike told lucy to piss off-> That's why she jumped" together. Her family already blames mike fully for it so the suicide nuke getting out in the open would just add everyone else to it. The friends would never forgive him and I have no doubt things would travel through the school quickly. He'd have to change schools to another town to even get away from the harrassment he'd catch.
needs to be in big flashing lights at the top of every bcb thread that Mike did try to repair his relationship to Lucy prior to the jump, and she jumped anyway. The issue was and has always been Lucy's volcano of a brain
>>156102239>>156102812This isn't even a romance story, it's a co-dependence story
>>156104251>Mike tried to get closure out of Lucy to make himself feel better and ease his guilt Fixed that for you :)
>>156104251>Ruins your self worth >My bad lol didn't mean everything I said, we good?Yeah Mike did the best he could
>>156102239The parent angle of BCB is genuinely fascinating. Especially since more often than not its usually dad fucking it up. The greycat household is going through a divorce and you only see Hailey give her mom shit about it for example. Taeshi has said he's already moved out and moved on with another woman but Hailey's reaction to her father being the one to put extra stress in her life is just crickets. Very much the same way with Paulo's dad. Papa Paulo is a single father who seems to just feed and clothe Paulo at most, usually seen with a beer not wanting to give his son attention. Somehow this is fine and just never brought up in Paulo's many episodes. And smoking gun for me is the whitecat household. Lucy's dad isn't present most of her life and look how she turned out. I say and mean this, in many ways Lucy turned Mike into a ludo father figure in that he spends time with her when demanded and helps navigate Lucy through the world. But craziest shit of all is Lucy's dad just doesn't show up for any of the post jump panels. Dude didn't even stop his circuit for his daughter nearly dying. The whitecat mom is very clearly not doing all that well as a single parent but this is only ever reflected on her and not the absent father.>>156102479I really wish Taeshi put out a "Mike leaves the table" BCI when she was younger. Would've been interesting but if you look at all the other BCI's involving Mike it just boils down to who he ends up dating, and kinda bums me out that from start to finish Mike is just defined by who he chooses to be partners with. Think the one where he decides to date James just got under my skin.
>>156104342Lucy was still an abusive cunt. She didn't deserve a complete pass. He wasn't lying that he was pissed and some things that came out came from a place of genuine frustration that still hasn't gone away. Though despite that he wants to offer an olive branch to at least attempt to start over
>>156104342>Putting her entire self worth onto one guy that she abused constantly for years to the point he inevitably got fed up and explodes on herThat's more of a Lucy problem
>>156104342>What if I put all my self worth on a guy and don't tell him>Also I don't reciprocate and even get hostile if he wants something from me>He's everything I have, surely playing hot-and-cold with him is the best move
>>156104432Lucy dancing around the issue has been a problem even before the story started breaking, but it was actually treaetd as a problem. I'd argue the reason any "change" Taeshi tries to say happened falls flat is that Lucy fundamentally hasn't changed & has gotten worse.>>156104367> I say and mean this: in many ways Lucy turned Mike into a ludo father figure in that he spends time with her when demanded and helps navigate Lucy through the world.I can see the angle, but how would you explain her weird, abusive behavior?>>156104666You're right, Satan but I'd argue it was way worse than Hot and cold since she actually hit him.
>>156104342Had this argument again award
>>156104760>I can see the angle, but how would you explain her weird, abusive behavior?Lucy didn't have her dad around to do the heavy parenting, so she has Daddy Issues(tm).>Wants Mike as protector and source of affection (like a dad)>hates when others tell her what to do ("You aren't my dad!")
>>156104979Also she grew up with two older brothers, one's an angry autist and the other a pathetic manlet, she could've cultivated a middle ground of the two, an autist with violent outbursts that's actually pathetic for someone to understand her
>>156104374Arguably the one thing Lucy did to earn any second thought from Mike was texting Sandy to take care of him. The play itself was just nostalgia bait.
>>156101741>Lucy's original issue was that none one wanted to play with her because boys rejected girls and girls thought she was too rude/boyishThat's how it's framed, but the flashbacks show that the actual issue was that Lucy has always hated girls.
>>156104295>>156104342Lucy would honestly be a much more sympathic character if her goal before December wasn't to get Mike to leave Sandy for her. We didn't have the benefit of hindsight back then to know Mike was a cuck, and Sandy was genuinely a caring GF who opened his eyes to the fact that Lucy's slapstick violence was actually assault and shouldn't be tolerated
>>156105253Lucy demolished any semblance of possible goodwill since her return. She's only proven to only value Mike as an object and he was 100% right to call her a parasite back in December
>>156104374In retrospect now that we know that Lucy's excuse is "I was being hostile and dismissive ON PURPOSE because muh letters" it makes her look way worse, it goes from Mike not being able to handle Lucy's attitude which she didn't think was going too far to Mike retaliating against planned attacks done with the purpose of fucking with him and pushing him to this point and her acting like she had no idea.
>>156105288Story before.>Mike couldn't understand Lucy's secretive and hostile but also clingy nature. Her oscillating between needing him, hurting him, and keeping him at a distance finally drove him up the wall when Sandy pointed out this wasn't ok.Compared to now.>Mike was fighting back after years of abuse by distancing himself from his toxic "best friend" who gave him bloody noses and beatdowns every time she saw a 40-cent stamp in his house. Prior to this blowing up, said best friend, outside of ass-kicking, would latch onto him and also act like his very presence was annoying, & constant arguing with him.Lucy as a girlfriend would be hell; Lucy as a friend is fucking exhausting.
>>156103639More like Sue has no reason to treat Lucy as a friend
>>156103233>picI still think that page is pretty solid evidence that Sue isn't currently ignoring Mike out of malice, but out of a mistaken belief that he wants to be given space.>>156103639Lucy has no reason to treat most people the way she does. For some reason the only characters she gets along "well" with are Paulo & David, who've groped and sexually harassed her. Or Augustus, who did it to Daisy and who initially caught Lucy's attention while trying to lure her in for Alejandro.
>>156105517Outside of lust, that's true for most of Lucy's friends, imo.
Is this the lowest Lucy has ever been, both in terms of character consistency and how the fanbase perceives her?Sure, most of us haven't liked her for years, but nowadays it seems like most anons can't stand her at all. I can say for sure that I hate her, and I hate that I feel so strongly about a character in this shitshow of a comic, but the sheer audacity of Taeshi expecting us to find her behavior even remotely understandable is insane. Some anon asked whether Lucy's behavior could be explained, but I honestly don't think it can, unless we're supposed to believe she's genuinely insane. And that brings me back to the issue of internal consistency. The story just doesn't work anymore. Every new page leaves us wondering why characters are acting the way they do, why their behavior is so completely at odds with what we've come to expect from them, and why certain actions have consequences while others are seemingly brushed aside. How the fuck are we supposed to make sense of Lucy kicking Mike and James still taking her side? None of it makes sense. And Lucy is at the center of it all. I sincerely cannot fathom what Taeshi is thinking anymore. These characters don't even feel like recognizable human beings (cats) at this point.
>>156105519While I believe Sue to be far less intelligent than she would like to believe, she's not utterly retarded. Paulo picked up on something being obviously wrong, so unless we assume that Sue is somehow dumber than Paulo, it doesn't work.
>>156105661>unless we're supposed to believe she's genuinely insane.
>>156105792I don't think PTSD explains it
>>156105661Lucy's only been digging herself deeper and deeper since her return. Line in the Sand and the events that followed especially just making her complete shit. Now if this was the idea and she was intended to be the villain or build up to her eventually smashing into rock bottom by her own retardation to eventually start genuinely build herself back up that'd be one thing. What makes her more infuriating is the author tries to do so much damage control for her and excuse her actions, blaming some other random character or thing when Lucy has it on fucking easy mode. All the while Lucy continues to be a piece of shit with no actual consequences
>>156105816I would say it does. Taeshi is right there, that's the irl Lucy.
>>156105962I thought she had BPD
>>156105987Yes. And she also got raped.
>>156104342>Ruins your self worthThe fact that her entire self worth relies on what he thinks is the problem. Even if he was too harsh in December, the fact that he was just supposed to bear the load of her mental health is crazy.
>>156104760Bad parenting. Hitting others and failure to socialize are pretty big things to note in development, even signs of being neurodivergent which clearly runs in the family. Lucy isn't even the only asocial violent loser, Sam sees her sister trying to break a kid's arm and his instincts tell him to grab his sister and threaten the kid her sister was just bullying. Carol had 2 problem kids and she just dotes on the autistic one that kept to himself until he could move out. And she had to be at least somewhat aware because Jordan joked about how his older and younger siblings both wanting to beat Mike bloody and he'd better off without Lucy, which she ignores because she just assumes its Jordan being mean. She's got a real bad habit of just ignoring her kids issues like that.Something else to note is that Lucy doesn't swing at her family, meaning early on she knew that there were boundaries to adhere to. Lucy didn't get violent with anyone until she found someone who wouldn't fight back. Lucy just finds a perfect target in Mike in this framing and you gotta feel bad for him. Mike becomes Lucy's everything because she found someone she can "be herself" around while Mike immediately notices that this girl needs help and just accepts the role. Then Sandy happens and the pets come in. After "losing" Mike, Lucy finds a new target, one that can't leave her and worse, relies on her. And Carol just lets Lucy have a talking pet at age 7? Even weirder is it devolves into rings. Where Yashy gets her own kid and Chirpy calls Yashy mommy while Yashy still calls Lucy mommy while Lucy doesn't talk to her mom much. God there's so fucking much to unpack when you zoom out. Like how Lucy's "kids" blame Mike for her attempt and just leave. I know ultimately its because Taeshi wants her dork high schoolers to sort it out themselves but it starts painting real ugly pictures.
>>156104432>>156104666>Mike is just a silly ol guy and it's actually Lucy's fault for caring The usual tactic of downplaying isn't going to work, the word you're avoiding saying is "best friend" and really, Lucy's only friend. If your best friend and someone you completely trust lies to you just to make you feel unlovable that isn't your fault, sorry! It's not up to Lucy to keep her guard up for when her best friend feels like gaslighting her despite the autistic Don't Tread On Me types who claim every man is an island except when Mike is isolating himself then everyone needs to comfort him to be a good person
>>156088420Don't put him on the same level as Psycho Cat! Scarf Cat is a track star!
>>156105703Paulo has more information than Sue, because unlike her he doesn't back off and give people space when told "I hate you fuck off". Sue did back off when Mike told her to, and he hasn't spoken to her since joining the track team, so she doesn't know that he's still depressed and getting worse, or that he's not eating.
>>156106354Hot take: someone's mental health is not a kid's or teen's job. No matter if they are your BeSt FrIeNd (out of stockholn syndrome) your twin or your lover
>>156106354Do not confuse the response of the oppressed with the violence of the oppressor
>>156106490What pertinent information does Paulo have that Sue lacks? >knows Mike is on bad terms with Lucy>has seen Mike openly skipping lunch at the table (hence Paulo throwing the apple and chastising Mike for it)>has seen James slobbering all over Mike>knows Mike joined the track team>is aware of James' 180 on Mike>has seen Paulo's open concern (which should probably tell her something considering how little she thinks of him)>hangs out with Mike for guild shit but somehow never noticed anything off???So Sue either has to be dumber and less observant than Paulo, or she does not give a flying fuck about Mike.
>>156106745>What pertinent information does Paulo have that Sue lacks? >>156106490>>she doesn't know that he's still depressed and getting worse, or that he's not eating.Read, motherfucker. And Mike DOESN'T come to the guild meetings anymore, that was established with Abbey saying Mike hasn't shown up for weeks, which means Mike's been skipping out since before LitS. Meanwhile Paulo was hanging out with Mike in the new years chapter and has been showing up to ogle him during the track practices, so he's noticed Mike getting depressed again.
>>156106354Is Lucy evil for making Mike try to kill himself?
>>156106882Take your own advice. 1. I pointed out that Mike has been PUBLICLY not eating. 2. Mike only stopped attending guild meetings since the exile began. There is no indication he stopped showing up before then. And even if he had, what, Sue was seeing Mike every day and never brought it up? Because we've seen how upset she gets about that kind of thing. 3. Paulo only showed up to Mike's tryout, not multiple practice sessions, or at least that's all we've been shown. The only dip he's seen in Mike's mood since then would have been at New Years, and Paulo was busy with his own problems. So no, I find these arguments entirely unconvincing.
>>156106354I disagree. Lucy was given plenty of warning to not put all her eggs in the Mike basket, or at least to be gentler with it if she didn't want them to break, but she chose to keep going despite being unable to take what she was giving. Remember, Mike didn't START by telling Lucy she's an unlovable parasite, he started by just ignoring her bait, and responding to hostility with hostility. December was Mike trying to get her to stop bugging him to give her another chance when he'd already spent years giving her chances, and she'd finally burnt through his patience. That said, I don't feel bad for Mike experiencing the natural consequences of burning that bridge and blaming his other friends for not being sufficiently "on his side". He's perfectly within his rights to do those things, but If he feels guilty and socially isolated as a result then that's his problem.>>156106625So I assume that means that Sandy, Haley, Sue, and Abbey are all blameless in your books for not doing more to help with Mike's depression? Because I agree with that, but it doesn't seem to be a popular position in these threads.
>>156107042Shocked sue didnt question the sudden ghosting which coincided with Lucy reappearing at the table. Paulo is not academically gifted and he noticed shit stunk fast.>>156107144So I assume that means that Sandy, Haley, Sue, and Abbey are all blameless in your books for not doing more to help with Mike's depression? You're a fucking moron. Actually trying to help is fucking different when you notice something is off. Least sandy has an excuse of not being able to see Mike face but mike's working mum noticed something off with Mike before Haley did. Abbey os inexcusable and unless he just tells Mike's mum he noticed Mike seemed down or off, he is an asshole. Seriously, this is a major issue with bcb. Having a character notice something is wrong and not doing jackshit about it. Even Lucy parents noticed her broken stare and were accelerating the more cause they thought that would work.Sue just comes off like she doesn't care. Haley us wrapped up in her divorce troubles and teen envy.
A shame taeshi and suit chased off every artist that didn't conform to their narrative view of the comic. We could've had super cute SuexMike art and fanfics, like maybe Sue and Mike having a cute lil ingame date in Swordvale. And they'd both brush it off as just pretending and it doesn't count, but deep down they actually really enjoyed and hope to experience it for real someday.
>>156106354>Lucy didn't know what she was doing, Mike should have known better
I repeat, the working mom did more by just leaving a note and the only reason Mike won't know that is cause Haley decided to be a bitch our of envy(it has been a bit since we have had any of them pass notes). For something that does not take even 5 minutes to do. It takes even less if you just drop off the lunch. Anyone with siblings know this is some of the easiest shit you can do when you go to the same school or have the same stop.>>156107287No, Lucy knew exactly what she was doing, she just expected Mike to bounce back to normal. Like, this is no exxagwration that at one point she expected thongs to go back to normal.
Now on the topic of the CURRENT pages. What exactly is Lucy holding a grudge over when it comes to Sue? What does she think Susan could have done to prevent her almost getting raped? Because short of actually exposing her gentuals willing, in an attempt to entice alej, what could she have done, from Lucy's pov to help her?
>>156107431I'm sure Lucy has no coherent idea. All she can do to justify her irrational anger is accuse Sue of alleged sins after the vagueposting stall tactics didn't work. This is just Lucy lashing out in impotent frustration instead of checking herself and admitting her feelings are not based in fact.
>>156107230>>156107327I don't think Mike's a bad guy, but you can't have it both ways. If Mike being resentful and lashing out at his friends doesn't make him an asshole, then those friends not pushing through his walls to keep reaching out to him doesn't reflect badly on them.
>>156107431It's a general grudge of how she didn't help her in her time of need context be damned covered in her flaws multiplied to turn them into sins"Sue likes to think herself above it all" into "Sue's an attention whore asking for asspats for being better than everyone else""Sue puts a lot of importance and focus on personal things like drama club, the MMO she plays and school" into "Sue thinks only the things she cares about are important and drags everyone around her even if they don't like them"And so on. Really Lucy has nothing personal on Sue, she's clumsy and pushy but she means we'll and is one of the only characters that dont expect much from her.I think she's actually holding back, if it was Paulo Lucy would have already hit him to shut him up and if it was Daisy she would have bullied her with a screaming match into dropping the issue, but she can't hit Sue with anything but passive aggressiveness because she's got nothing on her
>>156107796Not either of those anons, but here is how I see it: If Mike was sperging out at the table right now and was not a walking carcass, I'd be a lot more understanding when they gave him a wide berth. But he stopped doing that, apologized, went back to his nicer self, started skipping lunches, suddenly traded places with Lucy with no particularly convincing explanations, and looks half-dead every day in class. The most resistance he ever offers is a cheery forced denial. That's not exactly daunting from Mr. Pushover. I have to conclude most of the table either huffs paint or do not give a fuck, because I know they are plenty confrontational. Hell, look at how Sue was just pushing Lucy to open up once she perceived there was a problem.
>>156107431We've been lead to believe that Lucy has unrealistic standards. Sue was apparently supposed to get back up and keep trying despite the fact that she was knocked the fuck out. She, Paulo, and Mike were. His drunk ass did jump in and try to help. He just happened to be the only one to get back up after Lucy tricked Alejandro.>>156107868>but she can't hit Sue with anything but passive aggressiveness because she's got nothing on her She does have something she can hit sue with. Her hands and feet. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if she bopped Sue before all this is over. Even if she ffeels bad about it right after, she just hits people reflexively when she's cornered. It's a repeat of her walk home with Paulo.>>156107796>I don't think Mike's a bad guy, but you can't have it both ways. If Mike being resentful and lashing out at his friends doesn't make him an asshole, then those friends not pushing through his walls to keep reaching out to him doesn't reflect badly on them. This is why LitS should have happened during the sperg era. Mike has been an asshole at various points. It's crazy to deny it. But he apologized for all that at the start of the Track team chapter and has been nothing but kind since then. As a result it makes the lack of reaching out confusing instead of making sense. Especially for Paulo who is basically the closest thing mike has to a best friend right now and has more information than Abbey, Sue, or Daisy.
>>156107144Yes. Once or twice u can check, but ultimately his parents should step up instead of stressing their kids. Dont you think?
>>156107431Sue didn't die in the defense of her therefore she did nothing
>>156107287Just so we're clear here, your argument is that Lucy should've known better than to care about Mike, her best friend's words, and that Mike didn't know what he was doing was bad while he actively lied to her to undermine her self worth and admitted he did it to make her feel alone Wow really interesting stuff
>>156107431Go anime protagonist mode like her precious Mike and defend her despite her injuries. Complete with defying physics of course. Mike did it. Why didn't they? Clearly they weren't trying and don't care about her.
>>156107431See:>>156105792Lucy is Literally Crazy so she can believe whatever she wants regardless of cause and effect.
>>156108077Absolutely. A certain amount of parental neglect is common in stories about kids/teens, since stories generally require their characters have agency and do stuff. But BCB makes it weird by having the parents be present enough that it draws attention, but not framing it as a failure on their part that the kids are pretty much completely left to their own self-destructive devices. On the topic of parents in BCB, there is exactly one panel that implies that Sue's complex over attention is due to her mother being busy all the time. I can't find it now, but the panel is of her mother at some kind of press conference while Sue tags along behind her looking starstruck.
>>156108425>Mike did it. Why didn't they? Clearly they weren't trying and don't care about her.The times when Mike defies physics either result in him getting hurt or nearly dying. Also, Lucy doesn't value people who put their lives on the line for her, we know this.
>>156107327That's kind of what it comes down to. Lucy has unrealistic expectations and just assumes Mike can be her punching bag and just bounce back to normal like nothing happened because that's what he had been doing until Sandy made him realize "Wait, being physically abused by a bitch is bad and sucks actually."We just saw it again recently with her trying to latch onto him after gut/nut punting him and socially exiling him. Bitch was somehow genuinely confused that he was treating her like walking poison
>>156108037That's a fair point, but there's two counterpoints I have. First is the "in-universe" point, which is that while Mike did apologize and stop doing it, he then immediately joined the track team, and he doesn't seem to have talked to anyone but Paulo much since then. Daisy, Sue, and Abbey all seem pretty out of the loop with Mike, and Abbey says he hasn't shown up to the guild meetings for 'weeks'. The conclusion I draw from all this is that from their perspective, Mike started making a new "cooler" friend group and ghosting them. This would be an easy assumption for those characters, because they've all had friends do that to them in the past (Stacy pretending not to know the MMO group, Paulo giving Daisy the cold shoulder, etc.).The second is the meta point, which is that Taeshi clearly does not respect her own characters and I refuse to play along with her bullshit favoritism. Taeshi has this double-standard where some characters are framed as "bad friends who should have done things differently" for not being infinitely patient and selfless, but then she turns around and defends David, Augustus, Paulo, and Lucy, smugly insisting that they deserve sympathy despite everything about them. I say fuck that, the side characters are infinitely more likable than Taeshi's "fun assholes", and whatever flaws they may have are tiny and completely forgivable in comparison.
>>156109442I'm going to ignore the meta point because fuck Taeshi, we all know what she's about. As for in-universe, we have not been told the table has made any such assumptions and I'm sure as hell not doing Taeshi's writing for her. I'd also point out the group would have to be both truly stupid and blind to believe as much. The track team is one table over. Mike is never among them during lunch. The math is not hard. Asking basic questions is also not hard, yet we've only ever seen Paulo even try. This whole thing is so fucking artificial because of how nonsensical it is, but the inescapable consequence is that the table's either retarded or negligent.
Do you anons not get tired of the same 3 conversations?
>>156109822How about you contribute a 4th and we'll see?
>>156104342He very clearly says that there's a far more in-depth conversation to come, this is just him offering the olive branch to make sure she even wants to have peace talks.
>>156104367>Papa Paulo is a single father who seems to just feed and clothe Paulo at most, usually seen with a beer not wanting to give his son attention. Somehow this is fine and just never brought up in Paulo's many episodes.Like with many things BCB, most of Papa Paulo's characterization comes from non-canon BCI's. He gives a very sweet eulogy for his son in the "Paulo fucking dies in the car accident" BCI.
>>156109822Anon this is a comic where for nigh on a decade, basically nothing has happened. Yet still, you opened the threads- now like me, you are a part of this place.
>>156109822Maybe if the comic stoped rethreading the same 3 plots
>>156109698I don't see it as doing Taeshi's writing for her, because it's not what Taeshi intends to write. In Taeshi's eyes, side characters like Sue, Jasmine, Abbey, Daisy, Haley, and even Sandy, are all just accessories to the REAL characters, their motives and perspectives don't matter in their own right. I reject that framing, and find those side characters way more interesting and sympathetic than the "main" characters and their recursive melodrama bullshit.
Bump
>>156087851Everyone is so rapeable in this
>Alejandro promises Lucy they'll get married before their first baby is born because Lucy keeps whining about it>Ends up not happening and then the new baby sets them back financially but he swears they'll save up to get married >Then the second baby comes, and another delay >Then the third baby >Then a fourth and a fifth and suddenly finding time and money to make their bond legally binding is less and less reasonable >Meanwhile Lucy's been coping the whole time calling Alejandro "my husband" and always proudly claiming herself as his wife and wearing a wedding band she bought herself >Suddenly Alejandro finds/steals enough money and after twelve years and five kids surprises Lucy with a cheap engagement ring and a date for their wedding >Lucy is so elated she can't help but go on her twitch stream and show off her new ring and her upcoming wedding >All of her viewers point out she's got a shitload of kids and she's always pretended to be married causing Lucy to poorly defend herself >Keeps saying she was common law married which is totally more meaningful anyway while her chat trolls her
>>156111291Then let me rephrase: I dislike headcanon excuses made for characters. It happened all the time on the discord, usually to excuse something a favored character did in the comic or to patch over a plot hole.
>>156112942Calm down Alejandro they're just arguing>>156113613I don't think Alejandro would live in a house with that many kids. He'd be out of the house for most of the time leaving Lucy to look after their gaggle of bastards
>>156109312She got revenge for that kick he gave her too lol
>>156108425I think one anon a thread or two had a point when they proposed that Lucy powerscales the people around her based on Mike's performance. Or rather, whatever idealized version of him lives in her head. Which locks out the real Mike, especially these days.
>>156113963>Which locks out the real Mike, especially these days.Which is 100% cause taeshi devalues Mike talent for no reason. Like she feels the need to make him lesser. Maybe Mike being too competent makes her bpd flare, idk.
