I've completely given up all hope that the apocalypse either accidentally or otherwise was caused by Asami. The microsecond I saw that water tribe broach necklace around her neck immediately I was reminded about how much I despised Book 4. Like it wouldnt surprise me at all that Asami and Korra probably werent even dating that long going from what happens at the end of Book 4 and into the books so give or take probably to have the White Lotus get her company out of bankruptcy married Korra maybe like a year or 2 into their relationship and it lucratively improved Asami's chances in completely giving her company a new image out of her dad's equalist legacy. the Tenzin/Pema age gap was necessary in order for Tenzin to:1. be old enough to serve as a contrast to a teenage airbender from the previous show2. have kids that were in their teens to somewhat parallel said teenage airbenderthat being said I do find the age difference to be awkward, and I don't know if that has to do with me being a zoomer, because my view is in a relationship where you treat you partner as an equal it just makes the older person seem like a manchild. just got caught up with this series, and I find it really frustrating. it's a really great concept, but the execution is just so awful. Every other bit of dialog is some lame ass unfunny marvel quip. Half the jokes are just "DUDE, FOOD! LMAO!". Every fuckng character has to be a quirked out chungus, and for that matter there's also just too goddamn many characters. We're only 6 episodes in. Why the fuck are we being introduced to every god damn member of the bender force like they're all supposed to be someone's favorite character. MOTHER FUCKER, YOU GAVE THEM ALL THE SAME PERSONALITY: QUIRKED UP CHUNGUS! By this point in the main series, there were maybe like 8 or 9 characters if you count Appa and Momo. The big mystery plot is an interesting way to distinguish this show from the previous two, but I feel like the writers are just not great at setting up a lot of the foundational pieces of the story and world, and even Bryke with Korra did a much better job at establishing the setting, stakes, and players within. I still have no idea who The Faceless even are besides just general defectors trying to RP as Robin Hood, and it turns out their big plan is to go a location that we likewise have no context for. There's one batch of episodes left in the season and I don't trust that the writers will be able to cleanly answer all the questions they've presented. We have four episodes to answer:>What was the true nature of the cataclysm?>How are they going to exonerate Korra so she did nothing wrong because fucking obviously>Which twin is Vaatu and which one is Raava because fucking obviously>What happened to Pavi and Nisha's parents?>Why did Pavi and Nisha get memory wiped?>What the fuck is the evil spirit monster thing and what is Pavi and Nisha's connection to it?>What is the nature of the afflicted and how, if at all, can they be cured?>What's the deal with Republic Forest?All while simultaneously wrapping up the general plot and character arcs, or more likely going through the same motions over and over again where Pavi and Nisha have an argument over something stupid and Nisha tells Pavi to fuck off so she does. Again. It really feels like we're at the point in the story where we should be getting some answers but it seems like all we're doing is raising more questions.
